The Addams Family world gets bigger in Wednesday Season 2, Part 1, now streaming (Part 2 will follow on Sept. 3). Gen Z horror standout Jenna Ortega leads the altogether ooky drama’s cast as the titular supernatural detective Wednesday Addams. The new season explores a new bone-chilling mystery at Nevermore Academy, as well as characters both familiar and strange to Wednesday fans.

“Wednesday Season 1 was a table setter, but there’s still so much of the world left to see. It’s been exciting to expand the scope and the vision of the show this season,” executive producer Alfred Gough said. Fellow co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar agreed, saying, “We have a broader canvas and more toys to play with. The world of Nevermore is much expanded — and we had a great time doing it.”

Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley) is one of the many new characters welcoming viewers to Wednesday’s sweeping Season 2. You can see the fashionable matriarch in the Addams family portrait above, alongside Wednesday, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and the rest of the uncanny clan. Plus, give some snaps to the new character art below.

So who’s who in the Addams family tree? And, what friends, foes, and Nevermore newcomers will you find in Season 2? Well, fix your pigtails and dive like hungry piranhas into this complete Wednesday cast guide. You’re going to want to memorize these faces like you’re prepping for Nevermore’s toughest midterm exam.

Jenna Ortega

as Wednesday Addams

About the Character

Wednesday used to think that no school could ever feel like home — until she prowled the halls of Nevermore Academy. In Season 2, she returns to the Gothic grounds, where fresh foes and woes await. Razor-sharp witted Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.

For Season 2, Ortega has taken on the expanded role as a producer. “I’ve learned so much this season. It’s been so cool being a part of conversations — talking about the color of blood or the color of prosthetics,” Ortega said. “To be able to learn from someone like Tim firsthand has been a very special experience.”

All of these discussions only energized Ortega more onscreen. The Emmy nominee was excited to step back into her character’s Mary Janes once again for Season 2. “Wednesday Addams is one of the coolest characters of all time, so to have gotten the opportunity to play her once was incredible, and then to be able to slip into the costume and tone again, it’s so much fun,” she said. “She runs circles around everyone that she has a conversation with. Getting to play someone who’s so much more intelligent than you will ever be is quite funny and strange and enjoyable.”

Ortega played fan-favorite Los Angeles teen Ellie in You Season 2. She also starred in horror movies The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Scream, Scream VI, X, and Burton sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Issac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams in Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’

Isaac Ordonez

as Pugsley Addams

About the Character

If Wednesday is the brain of the Addams family, Pugsley just might be the heart. Sweet Pugsley brings out the protective side of his supposedly heartless big sister. In Season 2, he enters the supernatural fray that is Nevermore Academy as a student — and he’s bringing some electrifying new powers with him. However, Pugsley’s new schoolmates don’t exactly seem impressed.

“Pugsley isn’t easily accepted. He really wants to fit in and he really wants a friend,” Ordonez said. “As far as making friends goes, it’s not looking very good.”

Previously In

Ordonez previously appeared in Chromeo’s music video for “Must’ve Been.”

Victor Dorobantu as Thing in Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’

About the Character

Thing returns as Wednesday’s confidant, helper, and ongoing tie to her Addams family roots.

The character is played by Romanian magician Dorobantu. “Over the course of the three years we’ve been making the show, Victor has become so dexterous and adds so much personality to his performance,” Millar said. “When you watch Thing on-screen, he expresses such innate humanity. It looks simple, but it’s not. Victor can do so much with so little.”

Previously In

Wednesday is illusionist Dorobantu’s first on-camera role.

Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams in Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’

Luis Guzmán

as Gomez Addams

About the Character

“Gomez Addams is one of the most loving individuals that you will ever meet in this world, galaxy, or universe,” Guzmán said. “He’s a very loving father, very loving husband. He definitely is a family man.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones

as Morticia Addams

About the Character

Morticia, the definition of spooky glamour, is Wednesday’s mother and a main source of embarrassment for her teenage daughter. Well, the familial cringe will be closer to home than ever for Wednesday in Season 2 — Morticia is moving to campus. Wednesday’s mom has accepted an important philanthropic position at Nevermore, putting her right in her daughter’s backyard.

“Morticia and Wednesday’s relationship lends itself to times of separation,” Zeta-Jones explained. ”The family being more associated with Nevermore is a little bit of a thorn in Wednesday’s side.”

Previously In

Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for dazzling audiences as Velma Kelly in Chicago. She has starred in The Mask of Zorro, Traffic (alongside her on-screen husband Guzmán), and Ocean’s Twelve, among other hit movies.

Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Helen Frump in Season 2 of ‘Wendnesday’

Joanna Lumley

as Grandmama Hester Frump

About the Character

The Addams family is getting a little more mysterious, and a little more spooky. Meet Grandmama Hester, Morticia’s formidable mother. She is the fabulously wealthy mogul behind Frump Mortuaries — one of the most successful outcast-owned businesses in the country. Immaculately coiffed, emotionally cold, and armed with a razor-sharp tongue, Hester is calculated in everything she does, from running her empire to managing her family’s legacy.

Wednesday’s co-creators promise Hester will bring a “different mother-daughter relationship” to Wednesday. “Wednesday and Hester get along great. Other than Fester, her Grandmama is probably Wednesday’s favorite person and the one she feels the most kinship with,” Gough said. “Hester is also somebody Wednesday can use against her mother. It’s a delicious family triangle to set up.”

Lumley was made a Dame in 2022 for her achievements in drama, entertainment, and charity. She led touchstone British comedy Absolutely Fabulous, and appeared in crime drama Fool Me Once and Burton animated romance Corpse Bride

Fred Armisen

as Uncle Fester

About the Character

Wednesday doesn’t trust a lot of adults. But she does put her faith in eccentric Uncle Fester. He’s a master of the dark arts and always ready to work a telekinetic trick to help Wednesday solve her latest case. We just wouldn’t recommend leaving Uncle Fester alone with a bank vault.

“In Season 2, you get to spend more time with Fester. You see that he is helpful,” Armisen said. “He really does put himself in what you would think is harm’s way to help Wednesday. He really makes it his business to help Wednesday out.”

About the Character

Enid is all vivid colors, warm fuzzies, and school spirit. Although Wednesday wouldn’t expect to find her best friend in her polar opposite, weirder things have happened at Nevermore. This cheery werewolf is continuing to find her way on her lupine journey — and it’s going pretty well.

“She’s been to a few werewolf music festivals, maybe dated around the pack a little bit, met some new friends, and finally found a pack that she’s fitting in with,” Myers said. “She’s definitely grown as a person, because now she has fully unlocked her werewolf abilities.”

Hunter Doohan

as Tyler Galpin

About the Character

Although Tyler doesn’t attend Nevermore, he certainly has a lot in common with its outcast students. Once upon a time, this former barista seemed like a regular normie. But, in Season 2, the entire town of Jericho knows Tyler is hyde-ing a dark and deadly truth. Following his Season 1 rampage, Tyler has been moved to Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility for care and monitoring. Unsurprisingly, Jericho’s most infamous serial killer isn’t a fan of life behind bars.

“Tyler’s been chained up there for a few months since the end of Season 1,” Doohan said. “He’s spending every single moment scheming and plotting, trying to figure out if he can have a chance to escape.”

“Wednesday and Bianca have much bigger problems than they did in Season 1,” Sunday said. “There’s still that friendly competition between them, but there’s also a lot more on their plates this season. This time, they need to find a way to come together so they can help each other out.”

In Season 2, Eugene gets even closer to the Addams family by becoming Pugsley’s roommate. But these two aren’t exactly BFFs just yet, according to Ordonez. “Eugene’s relationship with Pugsley is … well, he doesn’t exactly like him, but he doesn’t hate him,” Ordonez said. “Eugene tolerates Pugsley.”

“Agnes was actually very easy to relate to,” Templeton said. “It’s not difficult to be a big fan of Jenna. She’s a very gorgeous person.”

Steve Buscemi

as Principal Dort

About the Character

Nevermore has a new boss. Principal Dort is the ambitious new head of the Academy. The polar opposite of his late predecessor, Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie), Dort embraces outcast pride to the extreme — advocating for normie exclusion in his mission to “save” Nevermore.

Co-creators/Co-showrunners Millar and Gough explain that Dort will bring “outcast pride” to the school. “Steve Buscemi is such an amazing actor, and he plays a principal who is incredibly into Nevermore,” Millar said. “He wears purple, branded baseball caps, he’s basically Mr. Nevermore — and the opposite of the late Principal Weems, who was so put-together and chic.”

She takes a special interest in Wednesday’s musical gifts, even though they tend to “rub each other the wrong way,” according to Piper.

“There’s a lot about the fact that Capri and Wednesday are both kind of control freaks,” the Dr. Who star said. “They like things to go a certain way — they’re drawn to perfection and they’re very methodical.”

Instead, she’s behind bars at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility for the crimes she committed as Tyler’s master in Season 1.
