@chooba chia She did play with her left hand though. The "fake" part of this is that she didn't improvise. It was entirely intentional.

I’m a flutist and I feel like she might’ve been because most of the notes she was playing weren’t THAT high and I even if that was the case I didn’t see her moving her fingers on the hand that was playing the flute. So from my viewpoint really the only way she wasn’t faking was if she was changing the pitch by constantly adjusting her embouchure and her breath to make the right pitch which while not impossible, would be very, very difficult. So there’s a chance she was actually playing but it’s very slim.

I don’t know which came first, but there’s a full three-movement PDQ Bach bassoon sonata with the same gimmick. You’re supposed to start the piece by saying the pianist will be late, and they arrive in time to play the last three chords.

The most traumatizing musical moment in my life was during a school concert. we had practiced at the tempo we were supposed to play at at the concert, but when my music teacher was announcing to the audience he had said we would play it at 200bpm and it surprised a classmate of mine and he started playing exceedingly fast causing everyone to go along with him and i must say it sounded like a severe train wreck. Then after the embarrassment of already playing bad we sat next to the strings players and the played after us and literally sounded like heaven, i wanted to die of embarrassment the entire time i had to sit on stage 1 hour after finishing.

For those that might be interested: what the doctor was mimicking by hitting the Violin is what health professionals have to do when a baby is born. It is called: Stimulation. Stimulating the baby through unpleasant sensations helps him to "wake up" and take a breath. It is not done in every baby, only those that do not have an appropriate breathing effort at birth and it is NOT done by hitting the baby, it`s more a strong rubbing motion.

Concussionists is a clever nickname. I've never hit someone in the head, I've knocked my own head on a bass drum but it just made me phase out for a sec. Fr, I have multiple scars from my time in percussion lol but it’s so much fun I really can’t complain, every injury tells a story 😂 Edit: The ones I remember atm - cut hand while catching falling bongo drum, cut leg on marching xylo while running back to the band room (and then had to go back and perform with a bleeding shin), crushed middle finger between my marching snare and a metal railing - which probably nearly broke my finger - dropped practice pad on foot and probably fractured the top of said foot, sliced wrist on my vibes this past fall right before going out for our halftime show, and a bunch of blisters from 4 mallets in the past year or so (that’s as much as I remember rn)

The University of Regina Wind Ensemble Fall Concert on Dec. 4 was going off without a hitch until Gustav Holst's First Suite in E Flat. What happened is the stuff of internet gold. "At the end of the first movement of the suite, there are three massive bass drum shots that are supposed to be very loud and very prominent," percussionist Brennan Kowalski said. "The first two went great," Kowalski said. "The third one, I knew even winding up for it, the beater felt a little slippy, but I let it go anyway — and then the bass drum beater flew out of my hand." Hannah Wildman, another percussionist, was caught in the crossfire. "All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I see a bass drum mallet," she said. The mallet plunked her in the forehead. Now a video of the incident has been viewed tens of millions of times on social media. A video of this incident, where a University of Regina student is hit in the face by a bass drum mallet has been viewed over 30 million times on social media. The two percussionists were shocked by the missile-like mallet. "That doesn't happen, or it's not supposed to happen," Kowalski said. "I felt terrible." Wildman ran off the stage to make sure she wasn't bleeding. She said Kowalski came backstage to check on her and kept apologizing before having to go play in the third movement. After the concert, Wildman asked for the footage and posted the video, because it made her laugh. "I know this is a stressful time of year for a lot of other students," she said. "Maybe it will lift their spirits a little bit." Wildman said the general reaction to the video is that people can't stop laughing, even if they feel a bit bad. She said they joked about it going viral. Then it happened "It's got 30 million views on one page, three [million] on another, it was on the front page of Reddit," she said. "It's kind of surreal." Wildman said the hit resulted in a bruise and a bump that went away within a week, and there's no resentment between the two friends. "I just tell him that I'm going to wear a helmet next time I have to stand next to him."

It may have shocked her but it shouldn’t have hurt her enough for her to walk off in the middle of a piece (except for embarrassment maybe, but still) Source: having been a concert/marching percussionist for like 8+ years or something who’s pushed through performances even while being injured because of my instrument on multiple occasions lol

07:19 The cartwheel during the high note actually makes sense in the story. It's from the opera "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss II. The cartwheel doesn't necessarily makes sense in this one particular aria (called "Mein Herr Marquis"), but it definitely makes sense in the character's second aria "Spiel ich die Unschuld vom Lande" or "Adele's audition aria", because she's asking someone to sponsor her acting career and is showing off her skills.

Huffypuff percussionist here (not orchestra tho) that’s 100% accurate lol we had nap time sometimes whenever we weren’t playing on a piece in HS - and we got up to soooo many antics back there we had so much fun Also, that girl was being kind of a baby when she got hit - in my opinion - because in reality the soft side of that bass mallet wouldn’t hurt that much at all (if it was the wooden shaft, that’d be a little more painful but still not bad at all). It’d be a blunt, soft blow that would surprise you but it really wouldn’t hurt that bad, she totally could have finished the piece without walking off like wth 😂

What exactly did doctors do during covid? Except for denying people visits in their surgeries, complaining in the media and putting people they had failed to examine on respirators and watching them die, the doctors didn't really do anything.

Well, to the intro question: yes, I actually was in such a Situation. I am from germany and we went with our Orchester to Paris, where we gave two concerts. In one church we had a choire performing before us, but the conducter was so comically theatrical with her conducting, that my friend, who was sitting beside me, and I had to struggle for survival, because the situation was so hysterical. Not being supposed to laugh, because of etiquette, is the worst. 😂😅

3:03 As a flutist, I can confirm that all the notes she played can be played with one hand, i.e. only pressing the keys with the left hand. I am just doubting about the stamina and how she can maintain focus and the vibrato and the tone colour whilst doing the piano at the same time. also, with the E flat, it shouldn't sound this nice if you only play it with the keys on the left hand (you normally also involve right hand to give a better tone, but it is possible to sound the note out with only the left hand keys.) Anyways, I feel like it is staged coz I dont think there'd be a piece that's entirely consisted of notes that can be played with only the left hand keys, i,e. D, G, Bb, B, A, C (, Eb).

the piece, ambidextranata by gary schocker, is composed to be played with one hand! it focuses on using the harmonic series to sound out notes. it’s similar to how the harmonic series works in brass instruments- by fingering one note, you can then overblow and achieve different harmonics (for example- e4, a4, e5 and a5 can all be sounded using the same fingering). it’s a 3 movement suite- definitely an interesting piece for flute repertoire

@Bernabé Ibarra I had a book as a child where a boy travels to the country of musical instruments in his dreams, and it really was like that. The mum was the viola, the dad the cello, the grandma the double bass, and the children violins, including smaller ones, I think the youngest was eighth size.
