I would have never catch that in high school, it was always my nightmare, because for some reason, I always seem to think, the ball is further away/closer than it actually is. I used to have that problem, when I'd think I need to catch it, I'd look at it, but my body just wouldn't cooperate. It gotten better since I finished school and I didn't have to stress anymore while doing something physically, but it was so, so bad. Some of my worst grades at school were from p-e lessons.

Reread the end of my previous comment; I made it extremely clear that it's people's _entitlement_ about it that _suggests_ they may be sick in the head/makes it reasonable to say they're acting _like_ someone who's sick ... That's completely different from just doing mistaken/accidentally harmful actions. So, like, don't put bs words in my mouth and mischaracterize my statements if you're going to participate in a sincere conversation. 2. Surprises can be done in a way that doesn't involve a shock/startle or otherwise _physiologically_ throwing someone for a loop. That's pretty easy and generally known to be good practice anyway. To draw on a popular example of this kind of wisdom, most people eventually learn that you don't tell a romantic partner you're going on a casual date to McDonald's and then spring a proposal on them in the town square while they're in their jammies with messy hair; you set up a situation where they'll feel comfortable and not too caught off-guard or embarrassed by the circumstances around the surprise part. Or for another example, you don't pie someone in the face who's dressed up nicely and trying to be very dignified and has lot of emotions about the occasion, unless you know for sure that's their kind of humor and something they'd be cool with. Same basic idea. 2. If a surprise is sprung on someone who either has declared/evidenced that they don't like surprises, then yeah it's a really selfish insensitive move on the part of any thusly-informed people doing it. I tend to hate most surprises unless I'm at least mentally prepared for something _like_ the surprise, but I also make it my responsibility to communicate that of course, and people understand it easily enough. Never been an issue. 3. If it's done to someone who nobody is sure either way likes or dislikes surprises, like a new colleague or something, then it's mildly risky but intent does count for something (when people are guessing without info to go on), and it's fair to guess that this move will usually go well, especially because in a situation like that the party itself is generally the surprise but the person is typically expecting to see their colleagues at work so it's not too wild a change. But then, if the surprise doesn't land well with the person and they're uncomfortable, and _then the surprise-makers get petulant and entitled about it and complain that the surprised person didn't react like a good little toy playing along the way they wanted,_ then yeah they're manipulative jerks with issues they need to work on and maybe possibly issues significant enough to describe as disorders. A surprise should be arranged for the joy of the surprised, not for the ego or desires of the surprisers. Nobody owes anyone joy at something uncomfortable just because it was meant well, and truly caring people will care about the actual impact more than being pissy that things didn't go the way they intended. Being a decent human being who doesn't apply lots of selfish assumptions to others is not really all that complicated. This was a good question for exploring some of the nuances of how to be decent to others while still being able to have the fun of creating surprises for those people who enjoy them. Hope this clears up the overall idea that people are not all the same, and that nobody is entitled to control or make demands of anyone else's personal taste or comfort zones 👍
