The audacity of running men up the middle of the road just floors me! And the dry with of an Englishman is exactly where it needs be for this

Frankly, this show didn’t have enough sarcastic English in it.

You’ve gotta love the old dudes smile considering he would probably have fought in the war before.

Winters makes a tactical approach, while sobel hiho silver's up the middle of the road with all his men. Strangely, I can't figure out which is the more 'American' approach.

Always liked this scene too because it showed Sobel resorted again to having them run up a road in a column like in training because that’s all he really new how to do correctly.

Quick fun fact. That old man was the most brilliant German spy on the island!

What makes this scene really poignant for me is that the English man probably served in the First World War and would have seen the impact of incompetent officers causing unnecessary injuries or death. The look he gives at the end makes it feel like he is remembering his own experiences…

The interesting thing about "Hi Ho Silver!" is that this comes from a Ranger from the 2nd Ranger Battalion that assaulted Hill 400 as they charged up the hill. It was documented by Steven Ambrose who was a consultant for the series, and I think either David Schwimmer or the writers fell in love with the phrase. I would love to know whose idea it was to have him use the phrase, it was cool!
