What makes this scene really poignant for me is that the English man probably served in the First World War and would have seen the impact of incompetent officers causing unnecessary injuries or death. The look he gives at the end makes it feel like he is remembering his own experiences…

Winters makes a tactical approach, while sobel hiho silver's up the middle of the road with all his men. Strangely, I can't figure out which is the more 'American' approach.

Always liked this scene too because it showed Sobel resorted again to having them run up a road in a column like in training because that’s all he really new how to do correctly.
