The voice over, put the word 'insult' too literally. They didn't make fun of the situation, just played the wrong anthem & the athlete inform them abt it & redo the ceremony as it should be. It's just basic human decency & respect to sing the national anthem for the country u represent out of all those in the same field to compete, take pride in ur winning. It's shows the quality of an individual's personality, if one does not have respect & take pride in the things they do. Sure to say, why should a stranger care if they know or they don't know the national anthem, or if they sing or don't sing, I won't. But u just make known in the comments section (publicly speaking) that ure that kind of a person, thanks alot for exposing urself 👍

@Clarkké Peterson it's a personal preference. The contestant wants her own nation's anthem to be played. That's her choice and her interpretation.

It's hugely insulting to the athlete. Basically "your country matters so little to me I won't bother checking the anthem is right". Gracefully handled by Viyaleta Skvartsova.

@Nancy Couch well like I said I only found two and it was copy pasted, I'm not denying it I'm only saying what in found and know. Also there are meant to respect those who participate as they all hold to a higher standard as you said so for them to play the long thing is extremely disrespectful and against their own rules it goes both ways. If you have any links to anything showing me information then that would be nice as like I said this video and one website with the copy pasted description says this.

@FadedDeathKnight There are several links and articles about this all over the internet. And yes, they could have taken her medal away for disruption of the ceremony. The Olympics have strict rules regardless of the situation and they are held to a higher standard of sportsmanship than any other sporting event in the world.

@dreed100 yeah they did it according to the rules and after finding out it was their mistake, apologized, corrected the ceremony. However, in my opinion, a game this big shouldn't have made this kind of mistake in the first place. Especially in the medal awarding ceremony, and to the gold medalist who are meant to be the peak of the whole event. So I kinda wished they could offer her more for compensation; cuz after all, not playing the correct anthem is very insulting, not only to the player but also the country she represents. Hopefully it's only a one time thing and never happens again in the future
