My theory about Mechagodzilla is more along the lines of humans desecrated the dead. The humans took the skeletal remains of the Godzilla Skeleton it showed at the beginning of the 2014 movie and built Mechagodzilla around the bones of the fallen Godzilla and in turn caused Godzilla to feel like the humans done wore out their welcome. Like Kiryu in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS, Mechagodzilla either develops a mind of its own and starts thinking its Godzilla or the terrorist group from KOTM has control of it.

I really doubt that this theory is accurate. People want to see Kong vs Godzilla, not Kong vs Mechagodzilla. It'll be disappointing to see Kong fighting someone else. The trailer kind of disproves this anyway, they emphasis that something provokes Godzilla, and since we saw in the post credit on King of the Monsters, Ghidorah's remains may be what Mechagodzilla was crafted from. Godzilla may be sensing Ghidorah's presence somehow, and thats personally why I believe he's gone mad.
