What Has the Brexit Crisis Revealed About Britain? Have Our Elites Broken the UK & its Institutions?

  • Am Vor 10 Monate

    Dauer: 36:46

This week on CounterCulture, the panel debate whether the political shenanigans post Brexit referendum have damaged Britain and its institutions and how they are perceived by the British public.
Joining Rafe Heydel-Mankoo are journalists & political and cultural commentators:
    Tim Stanley
    Madeline Grant
    Tom Harwood
    David Oldroyd-Bolt
    Among the questions explored are:

    * Is Britain broken? If so, was it broken by Brexit or did Brexit merely reveal long-existing damage?
    * Peter Oborne's book "Triumph of the Political Class": Has the post-1997 political class ushered in by Blair & Mandelson and continued by Brown & Cameron brought us here? Will they triumph or collapse?.
    * What, if anything, has Brexit exposed/revealed about us, our elites, institutions and nation/union?
    * What dangers, if any, are posed by a great swathe of the British public having this "revelation". Once seen by the British public, can it be "unseen"?
    * What happens now? Can/Should Britain be fixed? Is it worth fixing?
    * Is Brexit/the General Election about to prematurely force the political realignment in British politics that some have seen coming for some time? (Dr. Stephen Davies, Prof. Matthew Goodwin thesis: politics is aligning on cultural/values lines rather than class: Thus we would have Brexit party + Blue Labour + Tory "right" on one side and Labour right + Tory left + Lib Dems on the other)

David raises a really good point ala if voting should fall to 20% for example as this fiasco could well lead us to. Johnson delivering brexit had a lot to do with his gains and labour being down to one seat in Scotland to do with their stance IMHO. It was not a typical election but one which will probably be known as The Brexit Election. Any serious opposition and it would have been much closer. Back down to earth for one second. As I have been saying since I was old enough to vote; the option 'none of the above' is missing. That receives the biggest chunk of the vote (which I am convinced it would if all the so called apathetic abstainers turned out) and parliament should then automatically go into recess for some serious long overdue reform. Unfortunately UK politicians would probably not bother to put a contingency such as that in place and come up with something on the hoof as and when it happened. Baden Powell has been in the news recently, regardless what your opinion of him is he had a really good piece of advice worth heeding in these stupid times: BE PREPARED. With the exception of somebody like Claire Short, virtually nobody takes any notice of spoiled papers and as she pointed out during the demise of Blair; there can be a lot and reveal some harsh opinions. You want public opinion in all its glory, dig some of those up and make an archive that I for one am sure would make interesting reading for future historians searching out source material. I imagine many will echo the type of derogatory and disrespectful comments we now see on social media. Basically what is there left to respect about these so called 'honourable members' left, right or centre? It seems the concept of 'Traitor' no longer exists so maybe they should pardon any soldier who did a runner from the battlefield.

It has revealed that the deep mistrust of the political scene, the biased media, the status quo and the powers that be, is more popular than ever. People have had enough of being lied to, manipulated, and accused. Sadly Brexit was not the only cause of all this discontent by far.

We came so near to a fascist coup in Parliament, it was really frightening and I would like to hear a panel discuss about what we can do to prevent this ever happening again.

The march through the institutions: Tim Stanley is right that the silent take over didn't install Marxist into the offices of power but he is very wrong to say they installed liberals in those positions and the Guido Fawkes guys puts it perfectly who they did put in charge. They put in charge people who thought they could structure the people and society from the centre, you see this in the infliction of Political Correctness, which is not a liberal ideal. In this sense they have a similarity with Communist regimes and there is a lineage. They are not liberal but they are not Marxist in anyway we would understand. What they is still trying to be understood. They are anti-whatever country, here in Britain they are anti-British, anti-white and anti-family, in Japan they are trying to inflict anti-Japanese and anti-traditionalism and if they ever took there act to Africa I'm sure they would be anti-black. The common theme is this globalist ideal.

Regarding the 2017 Election, I don't believe anybody should be surprised with the result. In 2015 we went from a hung parliament to a Conservative majority (and quite a big one) on the basis of holding the Referendum. This result was a very clear mandate for the referendum as only the Tories were proposing it (in any effective way). In the 2017 both the Tories AND Labour were promising to 'Get Brexit Done'. The electorate, having had their say in 2016, and with the promise of fulfilment, understandably, but erroneously, thought it was a done deal. 590 out of 650 MPs elected in 2017 were elected on a platform of delivering Brexit. People were probably unaware that labour's renunciation of 'No Deal' would completely hamper the UK's negotiating position (may not have even been aware of it as Corbyn, Stammer, Abbot and McDonnal had all said at various times that if a Deal was not reached by the deadline we would leave without one. So although it is probably correct to say this election was the turning point it is not as simple as that. People still expected to see Brexit done. And now, although we have a Tory landslide, its still not a done deal. We don't have a decent withdrawal agreement (what's all this talk about a deal), and we still have at least a years worth, but knowing the EU several years of negotiation to get an actual (Trade) Deal.

More arguing within the left/right paradigm when the real problem is more underlying. We've had referenda before and when the result was known the people just carried on as normal, so why is not different, why are there so many people on the street protesting against Brexit? Because Britain and it's political institutions from the houses of parliament down through political parties, universities, schools, local councils even the NHS has been infiltrated, through individuals and quangos, by the New World Order internationalists and super nationalist bodies pushing policies like global warming and UN agenda 2030 pushing their global answers for (nonexistent) global problems and as the EU answer is more EU so globalists answer is more globalisation.

Democracy is being undermined as the mandate of the people at the referendum is not being upheld. Politicians seek power and money and influence through positions within the EU institutions. It definitely didn't break it. Brexit is the symptom of the the deeper underlying problems. And I agree that things aren't as bad as they could be. I lived through the 80s, with the IRA bombings and miner strikes causing chaos. This is still relatively tame. Aside from all the rape. All of the commentators , and all of the people who get to have a " public " opinion on this topic , are elite academics , elite politicians , elite media personalities , ect . We never get to hear from the everyday , garden variety , common person . It`s as if the UK is ashamed of it`s lower classes , which is probably why the elites wanted to be part of the corrupt EU in the first place . They are ashamed of the very culture they are supposed to represent . This is why the UK will ultimately fail , as Australia will , because we have forgotten to care for and look after , the lives and best interests of the everyday common person . Instead we get forced to go in the direction the lying elites want us to go , for THEIR best interests .
