Zeb embodies the true soul of snowboarding which imho is creativity and expression. The judges unfortunately have no clue to how to score something they've never seen before. Respect to Markus, he's a favorite as well but Zeb is expanding snowboarding in an amazing way. Also Dusty's double front flip was so sick!

He embodies the souls and the utterly bodied the competition. Seems like they set awards based on the finals runs. Sad sad sad. 🤦🏾‍♂️

He must've been 3rd up until Dusty landed the double in his last run for sure. I don't know how they're ranking it, but if it's style points out of 30 or more, a run not ridden is a big toll on the overall scoreboard as it's not best run, but overall impressions. Kleveland is just a beast though, he just makes it happen. Super fun event to watch!

I feel this year they didnt focus as much on creativity, the "best" trick isnt always the most exciting to watch and thats why the knuckle huck has done so good. If they start trying to go off of competition "best" people like zeb and fridge are gonna be robbed of that podium finish and more than likely this too will turn into another spinning contest and lose its allure

you honestly like this boring event? jesus i feel bad for you if this is what you find entertaining lol this is the most boring thing ive ever watched at xgames. then again xgames itself is completely terrible nowadays anyway. theres no snowmobile events anymore. they dont have/show qualifying rounds anymore. theres no scores after each run, they just move names around a scoreboard. wheres the excitement in that? its no wonder the xgames is practically dead these days

it's like that guy said, everyone had a knuckle in their snowboarding place. Everyone at least did a extra high jump with/over it or a 180 when they were younger/learning to snowboard.. So everyone can kinda relate to the bouncy feeling, and it kinda brings you back. I think that might have something to do with it. I used to love spinning on those things!

@evil prevails when good men do NOTHING. zebs style is that he’s able to do insane tricks and move super weird with absolutely no effort. It doesn’t necessarily fit traditional style but saying he doesn’t look like he’s having fun is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard

@Eric Santaella alrighty then, lets see. 1. trick done multiple times over multiple events, not by any means creative - super sketchy execution 2. similar to tricks done at previous events, so not exceptionally creative - sketchy execution 3. obviously very creative, unsure about difficulty since hes essentially just tapping the board, but nonetheless a crowd pleaser for sure - smooth execution however (for a change) 4. similar trick to something he alrdy did earlier, but an 'easier' version - fine/smooth execution if anything, if ure gonna look by this event alone, then i have no clue why hes receiving any praise at ALL. if you go by all events in total and his typical style - then yea, i can get that he gets praise for being creative and having some cool tricks. HOWEVER, the guy that i replied all this to, claimed that zebs runs are "smooth", when they are the most sketchy out of the lot. they are creative (for the most part), but this event was definitely not a highlight of him being robbed from a gold.

@Eric Santaella uhm, did you watch the first knuckle event? the one where he did a near exact copy of what marcus did, except he had 540 or so degrees less rotations in the trick, and still made it look far sketchier than marcus did? during that same event, he did identical tricks to several others and also kept the "sketchy" look on those tricks as well. as for @stefan , im not saying hes not a top notch performer and deserving of medals at these events, but im saying people are giving him far more praise than what is justified. like i mentioned, hes up there as one of the (if not the) most creative in the sport, but his executions are anything but smooth and effortless. cant really call it "spin to win" when he mimicked the trick with less rotations, and still managed to do it with less style and control

I'm a Fridge fan but I think Zeb deserved to be on the podium with Marcus and Dusty.

Apparently style is dead in competitive snowboarding… I mean I already knew that but this is a sad confirmation. Zeb really brings a core feeling to the comp scene.

@Ayyyechris Marcus is literally the god father of knuckle hucks and had the most technical tricks out there you can’t fault him for one fall if he’s busting out crazy technical tricks. Zeb won it back in 2020 when Marcus had the best tricks and no falls but the first timer (black kid) zeb won it anyways I think it’s fair Marcus won it this time.

Why? Because the crowd's cheering for him? The crowd cheers for who you tell them to cheer for, you included. Go back and watch Marcus's winning run and tell me there was a better trick on display that night. There wasn't. Judges knew it too, and the judges are all professional snowboarders themselves.

Miles should’ve got some recognition I feel like everybody was just reusing and doing variations of tricks that already have been done in past years but I think miles was the only one being truly creative

previous experiences showed clear fan favorites in these competitions (a certain somebody winning by doing "double frontflip superman" a few years back comes to mind) so without even seeing their tricks you know whos gonna win that

In 2020 I didn't think Zeb deserved the W, however this year he 100% did. Everyone else was miles worse than him this year, including Marcus Kleveland who did the same trick every round which was impressive but not creative or "knucklehuck-esque" at all. What I mean by that is it wasn't "cool" just textbook. And what the heck he didn't even get top 3? Dusty only had a good last run, and the guy in second idek what he did. Messed up. Plz bring back points and proper rankings nobody ever wanted this format
