Mind maps made me an all A student in school. I would do a mind map while looking through notes or a textbook. Then I would look over it and really try UNDERSTAND the information. Then I would write atleast a page essay of what i remembered. Then put both pages into a folder and glance over all the topics at the beginning of every study session. then when it got closer to exams I would do flashcards on each topic and skim through them. I had very little mental strain too because of it. Organisation is so important.

@michael manga-jocky This is pretty close to how I use the mapping. As you described it. Furthermore, it helps with keeping me from going on a rant and lose the topic/project. Helps you see how everything really is connected. I also found, in presentations, if I come to a blank spot, all I need is to see the map, or visualize in, and its typically just one word is needed to get back on track. Davy.STUN

@Siddhant Pathak Agreed. One big drawback I see in this implementation is the lack of interconnections between ideas too. Most subjects have relationships among the branches but there are only subdivisions in her examples. I really like the idea though and I'd like to know a good adaptation to mathematical subjects.

To my perception I consider that having an organized life is a great advantage, for this reason I think that the mind mapping is one of the best things to organize our ideas. I really glad to watch this video. 5 years back when I was in school, I used to do mind maps for subjects or even some interesting topics separately. At that time, I don't know about the impact of this mind map in my studies. After entering into college, actually I forgot about this mind maps and took notes in n number of pages. Then, IDK what is the reason but I started to feel like less confident person, i struggled much to remember things and a lot more. I started to think about these issues but I didn't get the root cause of issues. Now, this video gave me the answer for all my problems. Now, I really wanted to do whatever things like mind map that I followed while in school. I believe this note will be useful for others as well.

Two points of the talk came to my mind. First, Tony Buzan always stressed using single words on the branches and topics, but I was never able to do this with any regularity. Thanks for emphasizing that short phrases are also OK. Second, I will admit to striving to write ideas down, often verbatim. Now I realize that it is better to form the topic or idea and use your own words. Thanks.

I believe that the mind map is one of the best forms of study since with keywords and ideas you only have to learn the most important and a whole paragraph with things that don't matter much about the topic. This method is very important for children because helps the brain to better understand the subject.

My students work on mindmapping each week. It allows them to make sense of what they are learning and they enjoy creating the maps. One thing that I know I can improve is the connections between the ideas and adding more information to the map once they do more research on the topic, story, or idea. This is a very visual way of learning and organizing information and it is very helpful in my class.

Mindmaps also help me to learn vocabulary faster and more efficiently. Starting with a topic (for example: Business, Transportation), I draw branches which are words relating to the topic. I organise words' positions so I can see the connection between them. I also use color codes to categorise them (verb-noun-adjective, masculine-neutral-feminine words)

Another great learning video that has a beautiful person teaching us how to organize and so much information with how to say it or write while at the same time learn it . Plus , how to be professionally representing or represenitive of excellence that I think is developed when being one is able to speeck with such greatness . I enjoy all of Ted talk videos their people are so welcoming and teach with the greatest of humanity . Thanks again Ted talk for another video I learn from and enjoy ,all your video have something a person can learn from to be or get better like students such as my self that have so many difficulties know how to structure or connect the ideas , and I think a mind map is something I should do more of because I too just learn about it just a few years ago but I just look at it a lot because I had so many other immediate learning to learn before trying to connect the ideas together in a logical order . But I continue to reach this goal of mind mapping because it does give structure to thoughts and I have to organize my ways to study notes I have as a study note book and structure that and then . I CAN do more of the mind mapping but I am going to implement in more into my studies for sure . Its just I have do many differant subjects to study as a tutored student with learning disabilities , I just do as much as I can as routine as I can with learning to learn and study . But I know my mapoingbis going to give all the study notes I have for trying to study better into better focus with trying to learn better . Thanks again to the pretty lady that is presenting , how to mind mapp for better organizing to learn to structure ; also , again to ted talk too for presenting learner objectives for learning better too but most importantly a community that leaning person's have computer pages like your to not feel like outsiders on the computer too . Thank you Ted talks for being great providers to all audiences . Sincerely , a student that has been a struggling disabiltly student for so many years and to be able to watch videos that help people build in their learning ability is such a great feeling to watch videos that have welcoming people for learning in differant ways that create and structuring by learning

I use SQ3R method. But the common feature of mind mapping and SQ3R is that you organize and sort the most important key points in your own words. The process of reorganizing takes time but if you do it right you can claim that you have got the point! And thankfully you are ready for exams.

Just watched a presentation by Dr. Hazel Wagner about Mind Mapping.  I had never heard of the concept before.  I found it very interesting and will try to utilize it.  Besides Ms. Wagner is an excellent speaker and held my attention and as well as that of the audience when the camera panned them.  All in all, well worthwhile viewing.
