The Voynich Manuscript is a mysterious medieval manuscript written in the early 15th century. To date, scientists, historians, mathematicians and linguists have struggled to decipher the manuscript. However, the mystery has finally been put to rest. Ata Team Alberta (ATA) has deciphered and translated over 30% the manuscript. Currently, a formal paper of the philological study was submitted to an academic journal in John Hopkins University.

Let me try to explain the challenge of translating 600 years old phonetic Turkic of an unknown dialect to an English speaker. Consider this famous line by Shakespeare that is about 430 years old: Hamlet: "Get thee to a nunn'ry, why woulds't thou be a breeder of sinners?" This famous line may not mean much to a modern English speaker but Hamlet is essentially telling Ophelia that it would be better for her to live in chastity, protected from other people, instead of becoming a breeder of sinners. Obviously, this translation and explanation required a contextual interpretation by an expert. Now imagine English was a phonetic language – in other words, one would spell words as he/she hears them. Imagine how an Irishman or a Scotsman would pronounce and therefore phonetically spell the same sentence "Get thee to a nunn'ry, why woulds't thou be a breeder of sinners?" quite differently than, for example, the Queen of England. And now imagine the author was indeed a Scotsman but one has to have some knowledge of how Scottish accent was like 430 years ago. If English was a phonetic language, an English speaker would pronounce this sentence the following way, according to the Cambridge Dictionary. Hamlet: "Get di tu eɪ nʌnəri waɪ wʊdənt daʊ bi eɪ bridər əv sɪnər”. Obviously, the spelling would be somewhat different if pronounced by a Scottish accent. Make your guess how different this sentence would sound if it was a Scottish accent 430 years ago. Now let’s replace these characters with random symbols without further complicating it with the ancient Scottish pronunciation. Hamlet: "Get di tu eɪ nʌnəri waɪ wʊdənt daʊ bi eɪ bridər əv sɪnər” Now imagine all you have is the above sentence with these unknown symbols and no information about the origin of the language. Good luck working the problem backwards and forwards and using these characters try to translate this sentence into modern English. This is exactly the reason it is almost impossible to make sense of the Voynich text if the person does not have a deep knowledge of the particular language of the era it was written. In addition, this person should also have the patience and dedication to work through an unknown, likely made-up alphabet and the starting assumption has to be that the language is of a particular origin and then test this possibility. I believe Voynich manuscript can only be deciphered by trial and error by people who have the in-depth historical knowledge of their native language and patience to work through decoding the unknown characters. And sooner or later one of them will stumble upon the correct answer. It is therefore plausible how this man might actually be the one.

@Wallor wallor Your examples using vowel letters are AWFUL if you're trying to 'explain' English. The vowel problem is: There's a MINIMUM of 11 vowel sounds in English (13 in my own southern British pronunciation) which MUST be distinguished if different words are not to sound the same. Representing those 11-13 sounds with only 5 letters is a priori hopeless.

@Fuzzy Dunlop I think you overestimate the modern reader. Just by looking at the replies here, there is a question of whether the nun'ry is a convent or a brothel. I hope I spelt nun'ry correctly, I can't see it and would have discard this whole reply and begin again. I don't mean to start anything I am sure I'm digging a hole for myself by questioning other people's interpretations, I just wanted to point it out. I'm sorry.

Thanks, I understood the complexity of translating through time on top of everything else. Due solely to your clear explanation. In just my short time on the earth the language has changed an incredible amount, a lot to do with technology, but also popular culture, the internet and pop (I dislike that term pop music but it seems the most adequate to include the many forms of music) have influenced it, proves to me what you say is correct. It is fascinating, you have opened my eyes and for that I am grateful. You are a proper decent geezer, cheers for that mate.

I am pretty sure this is a life dedication by the auther documenting what he saw in the other world with their language ,paranormal word exist they are creatures that marry ,have kids, homes ,medecines ,powers and super abilities , everything we have but technology , they can have contact with humans they can even marry them and they have multiple languages so he obviously married another specie or had contact with them got the chance to know that world and document it for us in a book but for safety and confidential reasons it had to be unredable by human beings you don't know a creature could be standing there reading that book ☺

I am so impressed with what you have done! I have been interested in this manuscript for years. The last I had heard about was that they finally allowed it to be carbon dated and it came back from the beginning of the 1400's. Every code breaker around the world has tried to break this code even the large commputers couldn't do it. I hope your "family project" gets all the recognition it deserves. Congratulations!!!!!!

To decipher this the 5 pillars of decipherment must be met, it's that simple. We don't know the language nor the script type let alone a biscript or corpus. The cultural context is somewhat known but with many uncertainties.

Sorry not Turkish. It’s a Romanized Indian language, there is a town in India with the symbols in that book in that towns public area. The town is one if the poorest farming town and does not have any electricity or internet. All your work was for not. The people who went to the town and found the symbols and the people whom speak the dialect are soo poor it will be awhile before they will be known to the world.

Latest 2019 academic studies with strong academic backing, showed that the language of this manuscript is proto-romance, ancestral to today's Romance languages including Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Catalan and Galician. The manuscript also includes some words and abbreviations in Latin. Finally, I saw nothing on this video above which proves the validity of their theory.

In 2013 -2014 it was dated to the early 1400s by someone else. And they said that I it was from Florence Italy. Based on an illustration in the book of a castle with swallowtail turrets. Which only existed at that time in that area of italy. That was 4 to 5 years before this vid came out.
