Pepsico has great customer service. I called about 6 months ago to ask if they were discontinuing the Frito corn chips ( big Fan) as after visiting 6 different large retail stores I was unable to find them in the stores. They said it was a distribution problem due to covid and then sent me several coupons like you received. Awesome customer service.

I can assure you, the Frito will never go away... their top 3 products are doritos and fritos and cheetos. I used to make the quill drives that makes cheetos, and used to build the quill drives that grind the corn into Masa for the cheetos and fritos. This is so wholesome because to a 90s kid, interacting with a big company then getting return correspondence was VERY exciting stuff.

Hopefully everyone is aware that if you call that questions and comments line, or email their customer service, they will almost always send you a coupon for a free product. I once sent a suggestion to Kettle Chips about putting their tear punch in a different place on the bag and they sent me a coupon for a bag of chips. You don’t even have to have a complaint. They value feedback as data points on their products.

One of the learning experiences I had in grade school, back in the 1960's was to write letters to companies. I found the whole thing exciting and learned from that to do that frequently. I have gotten all sorts of things over the years, and it is oddly cool to have the confidence to do it. Before cell phones and google, I could call my local library and ask them for information, which they would find, and call me back. We lived out in the country, and it was hard to get to town, my mom didn't drive, and dad drove truck out of town a lot. It is still interesting you ate those things!

While I experienced life, that bag of Cheetos had a life uniquely separate from mine, outliving even some people I knew. I 100% disagree. I was not clearly in the wrong. The language on the package was clear. They did not mention this bag is on us only if consumed within “best by date”. It just said if not fresh, this bag is on us. It wasn’t fresh nor did I know it wouldn’t be. I’ve consumed 50 year old Vietnam era M.R.E. ‘S that tasted as fresh as the day it was made

I called customer service after watching the video, just to compliment the professional manner in which Jewel handled Kevin's call 😄. I felt that she did her job very well, with courtesy and good humor, and acted as a fantastic representative for Frito Lay. I told them that I was even inspired to go out and buy some delicious Frito Lay products, thanks to Jewel... I actually bought a bag of "Flamin' Hot Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles", which were new to me, and honestly some of the best chips I've ever had! The lady I got on the line, Kathryn, was both perplexed and amused by the situation, and appreciated hearing from a fan of the one and only, original LA Beast. I was also treated quite kindly, and of course, at the end of the call I told her to "Have a Good Day!"

Even when the chips were good there was always a slight burn. As a child, when I ate cheetohs puffs or the ones that changed your tongue green, I’d always get a burn sensation on my tongue. So I know EXACTLY the burn you were referring to.

I'm surprised he didnt need to seek medical attention. The fact he didnt have to do that says a lot about PepsiCo product quality. You can eat expired foods and not die or get gravely ill. That's so damn impressive that I'm literally crying.

I once bought several things of friendly's ice cream for a work thing and it was all supposed to be cookies and cream but they were all vanilla and what was odd, was the ice cream that touched the walls of the container was cookies and cream. it looked like they spray the walls with a cookies and cream base maybe helps them in some way with filling or icing but was thin thin but the rest was straight up vanilla, the more yellow colored vanilla. I send them a email with a pic and stuff and they sent me some coupons like that for ice cream and when I used them the cashier new exactly how i got them. she was like there's only one way you get coupons like these. You must have complained to the company. make me feel like a fool. I also asked why there was a thin layer of the correct ice cream but they did not respond to that. anyways weird story.

Yes, they honored the guarantee once they realized the call was real and that the person calling would potentially provide them a large amount of goodwill and good press for going along with it and sending out some coupons. The real question is would they have done the same if, say, a homeless guy with no social media presence made this exact phone call.
