@defcultist honestly, its his entire brand doing shit very badly and also mildly dangerous. ive watched william for years, after his house burnt down he only got more reckless lmao. theres a video on his second channel of using a dirt mound as a ramp for a shitty beaten up car. he hosted a convention that had a navy warship as part of it.

You skipped all the parts in William's video where he struggled to find any of the right ingredients (either at all - hence the pasta over the rice noodles, or within his low price range - hence the hot dogs as the only meat he could afford), and where he also revealed that he used to work at a Thai restaurant and knows a lot of the basics of Thai cooking. The guy's an absolute riot and a super genuine dude though. Everyone ought to check his channels out.

The hot dog part revived a memory from my teenage years. My mother was dating a Filipino man who had been out of prison for less than a year. He cooked like he was still in prison, tho. One night he said that he was making curry for dinner. When I came downstairs to eat, I shit you not, there was a plate of hot dog curry waiting at the table for me. The worst part is that we had both chicken breast and chicken thigh in the refrigerator. We, however, had no hot dogs, which means that he left and went to the store to buy hot dogs for the purpose of making this curry.

Quite recently I cooked something almost as bad. Family was away for an extended period, so I decided to make a very large Laksa to last me a few days. I had all the proper ingredients, plus a large bag of frozen de-shelled raw prawns. I also cleared out the vegetables drawer and cut up all those that were suitable. Just before I finished the final assembly, I noticed in the fridge some cooked BBQ sausages from the previous night... and since I was somewhat drunk I decided they would make a good addition. Suffice to say that no matter how fragrant you make your Laksa, it can never mask the flavour of pre-cooked chunks of cheap sausage 😢

It was made up by the government in the 1930s to increase noodle consumption and nationalism (hence the name) and kind of forced onto the population. 2:35 I have heard that Thais sometimes like to cook their noodle dishes with pasta. There was this pad Thai in the same style as the Chinese takeout with rice noodles, oil and the seasoning at the dollar tree over 8 years ago back when everything was still $1. It took 4 minutes to cook the noodles in boiling water and then you drained it, added the oil and season and stirred before enjoying. It was a little spicy but oh so delicious. I tried to find it online but they have completely discontinued it so it's all gone 😢

You know it’s impressive enough to take some ingredients that you probably wouldn't think of using as substitute and creating something that is not that bad if not exactly what the dish should be. I think the Uncle Roger Board Game should be like monopoly, but instead of buying property you are buying ingredients for a randomly selected Asian dish. Thing is, you can actually use fettucine for pad thai if you're out of rice noodles as long as you boil down the fettucine a bit first and get it nice and soft! Definitely use rice noodles if you can though.
