For that chef to appear and act like a prat, you know he read the script, he knew what he was getting into. I love that he did that cameo which shows he has a sense of humor and a humble attitude about himself. He probably made his asian parents proud by not just being a respected chef but now by being in a movie too! And took that slap, I'm sure it wasn't too hard but to knock his glasses sideways, it wasn't light and who knows how many takes it took. Now, I'm going to add this to my watchlist!

I saw the trailer and immediately diarised this so I could watch as soon as it was released on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. yeah, it is popular in other countries but i still hated it. it's super weird, it wanted to be political but in the worst way possible. some scenes didn't make any sense, i love thriller but there wasn't any thrill. i wanted to come out of the film thinking about it messages but i was too confused. the love scene was awkward and uncomfortable as well, no build up. it's not just thais who criticize this film, on reddit you will find quite a few who genuinely got confused after watching this film. it's bad, taught nothing but stereotypical gordon ramsey's abusive parody act on tv shows. the criticism were valid though if you only praise then how will thai's film industry move forward with its quality? you can see some great film like the menu or parasite, you just get the message and the tone of the film right away without it being pretentious.

Though I enjoy the movie, I think what unrealistic about this scene (not shown in this clip) was that the head chef saying to the lady chef afterward "Oh, you know that you have to use leftover rice". A compliment to a very basic skill which should not come from this cruel head chef. For his character setting, he could have just walked away.

I found it on Netflix last night so I watched the whole film and....Wow! It was really good and pulls you in right from the beginning. Thanks again for reviewing this one.

To be honest, adding small portion of butter is fine to me😅 I do the usual method with extra butter because I like the aroma. In Indonesia there is even a butter product specifically for fried rice. Yeah, butter fried rice is a white (dutch) influence in Indonesia but it's nice.

For me, if I want an aroma, I'd put butter in at the end after the whole fried rice is almost complete.

I dunno. Butter's smoke point is so low that it's actually better to use Jamie Olive Oil to fry rice.

That would be like Simon on Cuthroat Kitchen saying "Make me a good curry". And everyone had a small heart attack. Yes, it was an actual episode - one of the best. :) But it also points out the skill of a chef to make the most basic signature dish of each culture. Correctly.

I was just about to show this movie to my family thinking oh this is such a good cooking movie. My family loves cooking they are totally gonna love it. Good thing I didn’t because to make sure the movie is OK to watch. I watched it before hand so I wouldn’t see anything shocking or gruesome that they wouldn’t be too worried about and oh my god the amount of blood and brutality the scenes going to have is insane so close so close to being watched

“Hunger” is such a fun movie. There are all the flavors. The places of Thailand are very beautiful, high-rise buildings, a bird's eye view of Bangkok, clear sea, mountains and beautiful nature, forests, greenery, some parts of the city are conservative, not all modern. Hunger is my favorite movie ever.

The last thing the chef said couldn't be more true there is only so much culinary school can teach but you can't lose your willingness to experiment with new or old techniques and flavours. I've had lectures in University college Birmingham that can't cook a flavourful meal because they are unwilling to learn different techniques and seasonings and they pass that on to their students who then have trouble when they are in the real world.

Watched this film a few weeks back and it was fascinating! If there was any justice, this would be an awards contender.

while watching the movie, it was like i had a "little Uncle Roger" in my head.... made this scene much better. now that Uncle Roger reviewed it, a wish of many people are fullfilled.
