There are differences effected by epigenetics (genes being “on” or “off”), as well as the environment they develop in (twins are developing in the same uterus, clones wouldn’t be). they still look mostly the same though. Plenty of clones exist, just not human clones. generally differences in appearance are things like size, body markings, size of features/body parts — slight differences. Humans would be similar.

Super late to the party, but I wonder if some twins act like this because they were raised as "twins" instead of "two children who happen to be twins". Like the parents who give their kids alliteration names, dress them up the same, and make their entire identity about being a twin.

I have a twin and my mum used to dress us alike for only one reason: in case one of us got lost, she didn't have to remember two different outfits since that's the last thing you'd wanna be doing if one kid got lost/was missing, this ofc was only when we were small kids (otherwise no we were not encouraged to be 'the same')

Yeah, my little sisters are named Summer and Winter (middle names Holly and May, to make it worse somehow). My dad always wanted boys, and even though there are 6 kids now they’re going to keep trying. I don’t even think they think of the twins as different people.

I remember knowing some idential twins in high school, one day I offhand mentioned how even though they came to school separately, they somehow wore the same outfit, and one of them BOLTED to their locker to change into something else. My brother in law’s parents wanted three kids. They had him first, then his younger sister, and then went for kid #3. However they had a case of fraternal and identical twins meaning two eggs were fertilized by two different sperm cells but then one egg split to create a set of identical twins. So they had triplets, a boy and two identical girls. So now they have five kids instead of three and the odds of that happening are very rare. Just something neat I thought I’d bring up

in response to the twin couples living together and "accidently touching the wrong one" my older sister and I looked VERY similar... like scarily so, and she and my brother-in-law just moved in with us while they search for house. my sister told me that he said he has to be careful when he hugs her from behind, because he has almost hugged me on multiple occasions... especially if I'm holding one of their kids and he mistakes me for my sister. I've been called "babe" on accident multiple times too because of how similar we look and we arent even twins! so YES they've definitely kissed, hugged, touched, the wrong person.. because not only will ONE person confuse their in-law for their spouse... the other person will probably assume whoever is grabbing them is their spouse and they'll go along with it... which makes me think they could get all teh way to the bedroom door before one of them realizes "holy crap you're not my spouse!"

At a glance its hard to tell identical twins apart. But if you know them its usually really easy to once you get more than glance. I have no i doubt they could make small mistakes. But its highly unbelievable that it would be for more than a few seconds, anymore than your husband might realize it after he hugs your sister.

I knew some identical twins growing up and they were pretty similar. Both sporty, both really social and out going, both kinda troublemakers. But they were still like their own people. They had different friend groups and still had their own hobbies and you could definitely tell them apart by just the way they talked. It’s possible to be similar to your twin but at the end of the day you are your own people. The way these 4 are acting is so forced.

I went to high school with a pair of twin sisters and one day one of them was skateboarding, fell and broke her wrist, and the sister got up and left out orchestra rehearsal without a word because she like…knew this had happened? I'm an identical twin sister and let me just straight up tell you that I hate the psychic twin thing. This sounds so made up it's not even funny. We'll joke around with it sometimes but no, we do not have psychic powers anymore than an old couple or a mother just knows that there's something going on with their loved one. When you're socialized with someone in such a constant and close proximity, you get to know them really well. Especially if you have similar thought patterns. Some twins don't and behave very different from one another. I wouldn't know if my twin broke her arm unless someone told me. Most that would happen is that I would have a general vibe that she felt out of it that day so I suspected there might be a chance of her coming home with a story.

I love a good "weird shit" story just like everyone else, but that just sounds like a manufactured story to me. I can totally see how this would've actually happened and them just bending a few things to make it seem like a supernatural story. Believe me, I DO want to believe in some paranormal shit, but that's just too easily made up. If you've ever had or been friends with an identical twin, you'll know that past a very young age even its very easy to tell them apart. Even twins that live extremely similar lifestyles grow up with enough subtle differences to their faces and such that you can always tell which is which.

I’m so glad Zack and Cody existed for me when I was little. (I am an identical twin) it was really the only twin media I can remember from back then that wasn’t about being the same personality. First of all this video is hilarious. I have an identical twin. When someone asks if we are identical twins, I would get a little annoyed, most of the time not even answering that question. Yes, I have a sibling that looks like me. We do have our own personalities and different styles, different hair and clothes, and we cringe when we accidentally talk at the same time, we don't hug. There are clear boundaries but we are like best friends.

Here's something that I know and will probably forever feel weird about: the original Siamese Twins, Chang and Eng, were SLAVE HOLDERS. They retired to NC. They held two separate houses and two separate households. They were both married...AND THEY WERE SLAVE HOLDERS. I know the dynamics of society were very different and I don't know what kinds of lives they lived or beliefs they had or where their influences came from. But for some reason it just seems really, REALLY weird to me that they had slaves. Maybe I assume their having been freak show workers and themselves minorities in several ways including racial might have given them more empathy. Or assume in complete ignorance that other countries weren't as or more comfortable with slavery than the US. It brought up a lot of faulty assumptions I didn't know I held, and that's a great place to start learning some new things. But at the same time I don't have to know exactly why it bothers me that specifically *they* had slaves in order to know that it really does.

Thats something many twins struggle with their life revolves around their twin, there used to be this show that had a twin couple present and one matured outside of being only seen as the twin and wanted to change their life, but the other clung to her and demanded them to eat the same thing, wear the same clothes, have the same jobs and daily routine etc so it failed

Used to know a set of identical twins, they were pretty normal aside from the fact that they did LITERALLY EVERYTHING TOGETHER. If one asked to use the bathroom, the other one would ask a second later. They would always be together at breaks, lunch, and free periods. It was scary. They also dressed the same and sometimes talked in sync for fun.

I'm someone who has 2 brothers, but I am basically the complete opposite of them, born 5 years later, have different hair, have a different general structure, a ton of things. (not adopted) So this type of shit just creeps me out a LOT. Like a LOT. I used to know identical twins and since I was like 7 at the time I was genuinely creeped out by them.

I've never had a problem telling twins apart for my entire life. One always, ALWAYS has superior genetics. 100% of the time never seen an exception.

I knew identical twins when I was younger and can confirm they are just weirdos. One of them bragged that the only way to tell them apart was if someone looked at their stomach bc one girl had an "outie" belly button. They knew it grossed me out and would show it often.

I'm thankful every day my family has managed to dodge the twin curse for at least three generations, well as long as you don't count Irish twins. My sister and I are barely a year apart and looked like twins growing up, so it felt like I was a twin.

Dressing, talking, and acting the same and living in the same house is a perfect recipe for the accidental fondling of the wrong spouse. I'm 99% sure that it's going to be consensual and/or intentional, though. The way they deflect those kinds of questions and conveniently avoid showing what their bedroom situation was going to be, I'm convinced they're polyamorous/swingers. I also think both twins are so involved with their twin identities to make up for they fact neither developed their own personalities. They are boring people, so this is their schtick. It doesn't matter they have identical DNA. Every year that passes should have brought new independent changes, preferences, behaviors, and interests for each one. Does anyone really believe these women always want the exact same drink at Starbucks? No, but they probably always compromise to maintain the illusion.

So, just an update: they had two baby boys and call them “Quaternary Twins” they both have names starting with “J” and are dressed the exact same.

update on the pregnancies : Brittany had a baby girl and Briana is still waiting on to give birth.
