As a left hand amputee the issue is not the ability of the hands. We've for a very long time had articulating hands that could do most of the movements that a human hand can do. Its the interface which is severely lacking. Myo has serious limits in how many inputs it can take and how many inputs the arm can provide.

Very inspiring stuff. Thanks for making the film. One thing that wasn't mentioned was whether the software will be open sourced at some point. It would be tragic to have to rely on this technology but then back-end support goes away if the company changes direction, obsoletes certain models or even goes out of business. Reparability and spare parts availability are also an issue especially if supplying to less-developed countries. I really hope this company is successful.

Idea on how to implement this in a cool hacksmith project: find muscles, that are rarely used but can be trained (like the ones that move your ear). attach sensors to it (maybe in a cool helmet) and build a suit with two extra arms that are controlled with these muscles. Or maybe just a proof of concept where you move one servo with your ear muscles?

The pressure feedback system is a real game-changer. Able-bodied people with all their limbs don't tend to realise how amazing it is that we can use our hands whilst hardly ever looking at them, and yet get the perfect level of grip on an object pretty much _every_ time. When you're suddenly made aware of it, like watching a video such as this one, it makes you realise just how complex and amazing the human body is - and how much of our bodily actions/functions are almost completely automated, without need for concious processing, focus or thought. Also makes you wonder, just how much of me is actually _me_ in control, and how much is my body just a pre-programmed robot that I'm merely occupying and taking a ride in.

Though I like the lightsaber thing, and I am also convinced that it is an absolute game changer in weaponry, I always thought that there needed to be better artificial limbs, and something like what is in this video has gone a LONG way in making that happen. I do hope that further advances happen, and that said limbs can even be built with a lattice work of the cells of the person that had lost the limb as well. I am serious, with this kind of technology that is in prosthetics, you all could literally make a multi-billion dollar company out of that alone. I also have the perfect name for this company and it would be called Rockbell Automail Company, Limited, as the bionic limb design is similar to the advanced artificial limb designs that Winry Rockbell makes in the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise.

Only thing that I really noticed with Ani was she was manually rotating her hand. Giving her the rotational movement of the radius/ulnar without compromising the slim forearm packaging she has would be a pretty big game changer. Maybe using a servo up near the socket with a cable drive that terminates at the wrist?

I have to be honest I was aware of this company because I have always been into robotics, and always wondered how a cyborg would look like in real life ( not just in movies). Its very cool that you are doing this, and raise awareness of this. I am originally from Iraq, back home there is A LOT of people with missing limbs. So a very cool colaboration. But guys talking about that gift you were given. This hand/arm is begging to be a winter soldier. The colour is perfect because it matches his wakanda arm (or you can paint it). Ideally you find a person who is missing an arm or part of it and integrate the bionic with a full arm sleeve that looks like metal or is also made put or carbon fibre. The carbon fibre won't be expensive as a material if you did it yourself, but its a pin to deal with and mold to someones arm. Essentially you are just doing an extension of the sleeve, no mechanical additions are needed because they made all of them. The hand is quite small in size judging by the footage so don't find massive guy with no left arm, find an average sized man 5.8-5.10 with a slightly muscular body... Basically Bogdan. Come to think about it just chop Bogdans left arm from the elbow down and they you got the perfect video,  LMAO 😂am joking, please don't ban me.

This is incredible. One thing I've wondered, is if you can link up the finger tip sensors to the toe tips of the cooresponding foot, just to get more fidelity on the touch feedback with a shoe insert. Training the brain to subconsciously associate inputs from touch on other parts of the body with actions of a prosthetic have been done, and toes seem to be the most effective place for finger input senses to originate for a neural link

Definitely a great thing to exist. I can even see this technology do great things for people who cannot walk. People with severe bone and muscular conditions that makes them increasingly weak to the point where they can barely move eventually losing that ability. Heck even people with brittle bones where a little too much pressure can snap them. I am curious to see if they not only expand their operations but, also expand their fields of expertise once they get bigger to help an even larger number of people gain a semblance of normalcy.

This is actually a more proper version of a theory I had for getting proper robotics to work. Using pulley and cirvo motors, you could theoretically (although not cheaply keep in mind) create a proper functioning robot. Use specific sensors for balance (such as what a phone uses to judge whether you rotate your phone or not). So we're even closer than I thought to true cyborgs/robots.
