Very superficial review. Banal observations. It’s not a machine for complicated dishes only, actually I use it for everything when I don’t have time to pull out my copper Mauviel pans or my pressure cooker for the stews. I bought TM5 6 years ago as soon as they released in 2014, it allows me to easily cook variegated batches of food to freeze and then bring to the office while multitasking or simply relaxing, it paid itself the first few months and I’m still saving lots of money every month as I don’t need to buy prepared food anymore. I don’t waste milk anymore because before it goes off TM5 allows me to turn it into yummy yogurt. The guided recipes allow me to discover recipes from all over the world that I wouldn’t know how to cook or would surely fail the first time. It’s perfect to prepare babies food, puddings, mayonnaise, risotto etc. After 6 years it’s still working that’s why I haven’t bought TM6 yet which is not massively different than TM5 showed into this video. “Not a great of deal of mixing going on” is an example of the pointless comments: assuming she followed the instructions then that’s slow because the machine is cooking its not blending, the blades at the bottom rotate in the opposite direction where the blade is (hence not cutting) and stir the content as much as you would do by hand, effortlessly. I’ve tried tens of recipes even beef bourguignon and they were all delectable. Anyway if you have any preference (less water, less or more cooked) you can tweak the recipe manually every time you cook it, the recipe is guided but the user is ultimately deciding quantity of ingredients, length of cooking etc. The recipe on the screen will also show possible variation too i.e. Parmesan risotto, or with porcini mushrooms, by default it takes 10 minutes cooking but depending on the rice type you can increase that.

She’s hating because the machine has replaced her. Exactly that. The bitch is an expert cook and she’s intimidated by the fact that a machine can make “anyone” as good as she is! Of course the bitch is going to discredit the machine, it’s replacing her time money and skills that she put into cooking to the point where she thought she was unique to other people as being seen as an expert.m cook. @TECH360.TV It's certainly not for everything. I appreciate most about it that it makes me not order a pizza. Jokes aside though, If you expect it to do everything for you, you're going to be disappointed. But it is VERY useful in a lot of situations. The marketing for this works mainly through mouth to mouth recommendations. i.e. people who payed the price, tested it and are now telling their friends to buy one. That really should tell you all you need to know. It's basically an anti fad.

Regarding time, you're misunderstanding the point. The point is, you do a step and leave it to do its thing and go bath a kid or watch some TV. It dings, you come back and do the next step then leave it to do its thing again. You do NOT stand at the machine the whole time. I don't have if the cooking time from beginning to end is over an hour. If my interaction with the cooking process is only couple of minutes it's a winner!

I'm not sure about the new TM6, but my wife and I only bought the TM5 about 3 years ago and just the other day the shaft that spins the blade completely sheared off when using the machine to create a simple smoothie. I called up the customer service and our consultant to get a replacement blade and they both said they wouldn't replace the blade because it was out of warranty and that the blade is an ACCESSORY. I'm pretty sure the definition of ACCESSORY is as follows (taken from a dictionary): "a thing which can be added to something else in order to make it more useful, versatile, or attractive." If I am not mistaken, the blade is the core function of the thermomix and without it, the machine is completely useless. That is by definition not an accessory. And if you are expected to pay over 100 dollars for a new blade every couple years because it breaks, then why would anyone pay for the massive over 2000 dollars investment in the first place? People pay that kind of money to get a good quality product. The blade completely shearing off means my machine is absolutely useless now. It is a massive paper weight. That doesn't sound like a good quality product. Most good quality products also have substantial warranties. Why does Thermomix not have a warranty for the integral parts of their machines for the entire life of the machine? Good quality products also have great customer service. That's also something else I felt Thermomix was lacking when trying to get this problem sorted so my wife and I could resume using the thermomix. The customer service rep that called me told me that THE BLADE IS DESIGNED TO BREAK BEFORE THE MOTOR so that you don't have to replace the expensive motor. That is fine and all, but I was just making a smoothie when this happened. It's not like I was trying to grind a brick into dust. I am a structural engineer and while you definitely take into account ways a structure can fail, you don't say that you have designed the structure to fail under normal every day loading conditions so that you can replace it for cheaper!! Sure maybe work needs to be done on the building, but a broken thermomix blade is the equivalent of my whole structure becoming unserviceable. The consultant that sold us the Thermomix definitely did not tell us that the blade was designed to break before the motor. If I new this, we definitely would not have bought one. How about you make this right and send us a replacement blade and take responsibility for the product you are selling?

Great review. This machine is meant to replace most tools you have in the kitchen, and that means cooking a lot of simple dishes. It is not a 200 euro machine, but 1200 Euro and it must be mentioned. 90% of people will end up with TM like they do with expensive camera or any other sophisticated machine. Hardly anyone uses even 50% of potential of those things. Just end up using Auto mode. That you can get for fraction of this price

TV dinners are made with no-name ingredients. You don't know what you're eating. This takes away the stress but at the same time puts you in charge of quality and allows you to make stuff from scratch instead of buying dubious readymade sauces and condiments etc. full of artificial additives and colours.

I think this is pretty good for a first time use, but obviously shows a lack of understanding and knowledge about the product. She mentions that it must be the mixing that generates heat - No! It has a heating element built into the base of the stainless steel bowl. If she was familiar with Thermomix cooking, we generally leave the 'wet' rice in an insulated bowl while cooking the rest of the dish. This allows time for the remaining liquid to be absorbed. You also need to adjust the cooking time for different rice varieties, i.e. short grain cooks faster than long grain. Also you don't have to boil your rice first and then make your sauce/curry - you can steam rice in the Varoma steaming basket as you cook your curry below. She says you don't know what's coming up next because there are no instructions, but there is always the option to switch to full view which shows the entire recipe so you can scroll forward or back at any point during the cooking. She also had the cookbook with the exact same recipes right in front of her that would have shown the entire recipe! Thermomix owners love that there is a long period with nothing to do in the kitchen - who doesn't love being able to walk away from the kitchen and do something else without worrying about overflowing, burning or stirring! If you want a more concentrated/thicker sauce you can always remove the measuring cup for more of the cooking time so that more water can evaporate. All of this highlights why buying through a consultant is invaluable, because they teach you how to use your machine and are always available to provide tips on adapting recipes to suit the owner.

They want you to get the most out of the machine. The thermomix has been a life saver in my family with two toddlers, one who has autism and limited food, so I will be able to make seperate meals for him if need be. Plus the younger toddler seems to be showing more and more signs and I may end up needing to getting her assessed as well. Plus she has an egg allergy, so it helps making everything from scratch.

You do not know how to use a Thermomix unfortunately - if you'd put the machine on reverse speed you wouldn't have had the issue with the shredded chicken for example. Can't believe you complained about taking the lid off - do you never cook meals in a pot with a lid? It is by far the best kitchen appliance on the market and you didn't even bother to review it's ability to weigh your ingredients or the fact that it removes the need for most other gadgets while cooking. Nevermind the electricity you save. If you're considering buying a Thermomix, get a consultant to give you a proper demonstration before you make up your mind, don't watch this review.

Thank you for your honest and clear review. I think I'll skip it. If you are still chopping most ingredients yourself and waiting first for rice to complete, then making the main dish, having more than one dish cooking at a time - like normal - makes quite a bit more sense. Also, since you still had to chop and prepare ingredients prior to putting them in the "robot," the time savings seems minimal. Other reviews have said how great it is that you can do other things while your meal is cooking - but I don't see how that's any different than cooking a stew on the stove, or having a chicken and vegetables cooking in the oven, or, of course, adding ingredients to an Instant Pot and pushing the "on" button. When doing all of these things, I can still go do other things while the meal is cooking. And none of those methods cost as much!

It is pretty obvious this woman doesn’t have children. Otherwise, she would be running around the house doing other chores. I have had a Thermomix for 2 years now and it has helped my stress levels of being a working mother of 2 go down considerably 😂😂. The Thermomix is not for the gourmet cook. It’s for mothers who wants to cook healthy meals for their families but don’t always find the time and end up buying take out. I ❤️ my Thermomix and wish I had bought one years ago. I would have paid more for it that is how much it has helped me. My husband says it has brought peace into our home😂😂😂

@HotVoodooWitch Actually I have the previous model, the T31, and I'm not going to change it to the electronic recipe ones. The more electronic the more delicate. The person at the repair shop grudgingly acknowledged it. My mother still has the T21 and I recently parted from the first first model, which is still working perfectly, because a dear friend had given hers to her daughter while moving out, and she was very depressed missing it.

Your review was ridiculous, your host had no knowledge of the device whatsoever, if she'd bothered to even read an instruction manual she would have seen that you could view the recipe in full screen to prep the rest of the ingredients. Also no mention of the amazing weight function. And all we heard was complaining about opening the lid? Do you not take the lids off of your pots when cooking? And how can you judge a device's ability to "stir" something if you've only cooked one dish? Ridiculous and completely unfair review.

First judging by the cost and size it is not worth at all. This is too big for most kitchens. It wont fit under your top cabinet. Second value X time X work = not worth. Too expensive to save small portion of your time and work. Any product that needs a lot of demonstration means it cannot be sold just by the packaging. Do not waste your money because you will use a couple of times and that's it. Also it is not cleaning save time. You have to do a lot of cleaning with this product. I have a new stove & oven that can save me time and money and it is the same price as this machine.

Vor 2 years

@ Paulo Habsburg Totally wrong. 1. It does fit under my top cabinet, and there's space to spare. I do drag it out a bit when I want to prepare stuff, though, because I don't want the steam to ruin the top cabinet. Then I push it back when I'm done. 2. It doesn't save a small portion of work. It's motor is stronger than any other chopper blender mixer, it crushes ice, it makes powder out of everything in seconds. Only the weighing function saves me a lot of washing up different measuring containers for the different ingredients. Not to mention pans and such. 3. The cleaning is really minimal. If it's not a super-sticky thing, you just put a few drops of dishwashing liquid and water, and whizz for a couple of seconds. Done. And the frothy liquid can be saved to pour on other dirty dishes as well so you don't waste it. 4. It needs demonstration if people are to use it for more than blender functions. Even a computer needs some instructions, even a smartphone needs instructions if you are to use its full capabilities. 5. It saves lots of time because it doesn't need babysitting. The food won't stick because it is stirred constantly, it won't burn because you forgot it, so you can go take a shower or clean the house or put your feet up and read a book with no worries. It can't function as an oven, and it can't deep fry, so I still do these things with other appliances. Other than that, it does everything. And you can make steamed rice on top of a curry, I don't know why she didn't use the Varoma. It's because she had no experience with it. You're putting it down based on almost zero information, and you diss people who have firsthand information.

@TECH360.TV Stop being snarky and pretending you don't know what the poster meant. Preparing for the curry means peeling and roughly chopping the vegetables, which is NOT done in another Thermomix or any other appliance and which in the video she did AFTER the rice was cooked. Who does that in real life? Multi-task can also mean taking care of the rest of your dinner, the parts which are not made in the Thermomix. For instance cutting your salad, setting the table, peeling fruit if you're going to serve as dessert, washing your chopping board and knives...

I found this review to be very honest, useful, and quite valuable.  As a consumer, we should all be aware of what to expect from a product in "real life" situations/use.  Commercials and demos from a company representative does not provide the consumer with all the details...they're main pupose is to sell the product and not to determine whether or not it is a perfect fit for an individual's needs/wants.  I'm tired of buying high-priced items that promises so much, but then fall flat once you have it at home.

Hi Charlotte, well done for figuring out how to use the Thermomix on your own. Your lovely smile made this an enjoyable video to watch. However I have to agree with Filipa and Valerie that a Thermomix advisor will be able to show you how to maximise the full usage of Thermomix so you save time and energy while preparing meals. For example, you could steam fish parcels/ ginger, spring onion chicken or BOTH in the Varoma while the rice is cooking making it a "one pot meal". And of course you could do that in the same in the rice cooker as well but the difference is is the dishes require longer cooking time you could remove the basket with rice and extend the cooking time for other dishes. And you also have the flexibility or leave the room and catch up on work or look after your children etc. May I suggest you try making kaya (Malaysian coconut custard jam) next time and let us know what you think ;) I could provide the Thermomix recipe if you need it.

Nice to see your view. Did you not know the cookbook has the exact same recipes as those on the chip? When you said, "Don't know what is happening next.... guess I have to wait to see...." thought you might want to know that you just read the recipe in the cookbook if you want to know. For me, the point of having the machine prepare food in a robot like fashion is to free myself up to do other things. (of course, it also give me complete control over what I put in my food, prepares delicious, nutritious and economical food perfectly every time, and more, too...) I am sure, in real time, you would be busy setting the table, making another dish, or working in your kitchen instead of watching the clock. Most times, the rice can be simmered over top of the chicken dish and both are cooked at once, not one before the other. I think, for a first time experience, you were able to demonstrate considerable success. Now you know this specific recipe will need you to tighten your sauce for your palate as you said this one was too runny for you. Cooking mixed vegetables together is always tricky. You have to understand the density and cooktime of each, and portion them to cook together, accordingly. Your beans can be cut smaller or put in earlier to cook longer than the other veggies. To rate it anything after only one experience - is based only upon that one first experience. Is that how you do all your reviews? I would trust a more informed review more where the machine was used consistently over a week, or preferably a month. Sincerely, V

@Sierra Tango  John doe  you couldn't be more wrong. Everything is adjustable, you don't have to follow the recipe thoroughly, the seasonings and size of portions is all up to you. I don't know where you got the idea that things don't cook whole in this machine, again one of the downsides of not having someone properly explained it to you. FYI you can steam cook or sauté vegetables whole, chicken can be cooked whole and not shredded, depends on what you want to do. There is nothing you can do by hand that you can't do on this machine.

Vor 2 years

@Gabriel Sá Pinto I think the downside of this machine from what you've expressed is that u have to cut ur potions down or the sizes of vegetables n order for things to cook thru perfectly. If that's the case, u may as well be making soup! I think one of the luxuries of cooking manually in comparison to using this machine is that u get to enjoy the juiciness of meat and whole vegetables such as green beans which it seems this thermomixer has trouble axcomodating. I prefer my chicken whole and not shredded to oblivion. It seems I would have to adjust my preferences to the limitations of the machine and if that's the case, I'll pass. 😊

Vor 2 years

TECH360.TV you're right, but at the same time, if you don't show how to optimize the use of this machine, viewers will get the wrong idea. Some examples: 1- There's no way the Thermomix will take longer to cook the dish than yourself manually, unless it's something really simple, but for that you wouldn't have the need to use it in the first place. But for things like boiling water and warming up you can save up to 10 min just by having a jar with boiled water ready. 2- When it's cooking, the idea is for you to do several other things instead of just staring at the screen. You can check the next steps of the recipe and get the tools / ingredients you need at hand, you can go take a bath and several other house chores. If you had to cook that dish by hand you just couldn't leave the stove. 3- There's a site called cookidoo and a thing called cook key that goes into that chip socket, with it you can do several things as for example: Planning weekly menus, make ingredients shopping lists and mail them to you, and you can do that anywhere and then synchronize it with the cook key, you'll have all the meals you want to make ready to go. 4- You can cook up to 3 or 4 different things at the same time. For example you can make a soup on the main jar, rice on a cake bowl and an omelet with the Varoma on top, they all cook with the steam from boiling the vegetables for the soup below. This is done in 30 minutes only. Disclose: I'm not a Thermomix advisor, I just got mine 2 weeks ago, but I was given all of this advice, without that it wouldn't be the same thing.

There's a reason this product is represented by consultants who show clients how they can take best advantage of the machine instead of trying to decifre what to do on your own. You can look at next steps of recipe and prepare what comes next while it is cooking instead of looking at the clock. Again, a consultant would show you how to maximise the use and shorten the time of the recipe, tell you how to avoid shredded chicken and so on...

@Steve Fu You CAN sauté meat in it and take it from there to complete cooking. I own one, although I'm a vegetarian and don't eat meat. However, I do sauté vegetables in it and there are recipes that include sautéing meat. In addition, it does the stirring for you AND you can simultaneously steam and cook.
