Wait cottonee is kinda hype though, I could definitely see a situation when it comes back in the dlc where it might be more prefarable than whimsicott.
Vor 6 Monate@rainbowturtle +49
The issue with Cottonee is that it doesn't have Tailwind as of gen 8. If it gets it back it'll be worth looking into, but boosting teams have already had some counters worked around due to Dondozo, meaning you don't have as much support power through stuff like safeguard swagger like you used to.
Vor 6 Monate@browserjunior4707 +17
@@rainbowturtle Considering how Tailwind is a TM in Gen 9 and the fact cottonee itself could learn tailwind itself in a previous generation, it makes sense for Cottonee to relearn Tailwind once re-introduced back in Gen 9, unless they pull a BDSP and prevent PokƩmon from learning Toxic like Heatran
Vor 6 Monate@rainbowturtle
@Browser JuniorĀ that's an assumption that we can't really make, especially since the leaks (at least ones I have seen) haven't had anything on DLC mons so we don't know their new/returning moves. I think I like the idea of weak Pokemon be in the right place at the right time better than Karen's quote. While latter is as inspiring as it is blindly optimistic, the former shows that weaker Pokemon can have potential when needing to fill in a niche only they can provide.
Vor 6 Monate@iantaakalla8180 +7
Strangely enough, even strong PokƩmon with downsides can fit this as well. Take Weavile in Gen 8 Ubers. It might have had 100 less base points than most Ubers and was utterly frail, but Dark/Ice STAB at its height meant no popular PokƩmon withstood both its STABs and there was no held item gimmick save Zamazenta-Crowned and it outspeeds most legendaries.

I think the overwhelming nature of pokemon can be discouraging for getting into it, but the limited meta makes it easier to generally play with agency. From there, that great expanse of other niche counter options becomes one of the most exciting parts, also just the ability to get the most out of personal favorites. I'd overal prefer an unrealistically great balance, but at the same time, it might actually become super messy when it comes to rock/paper/scissors and generally playing with agency, and it'd make it less special when a strong niche pops up as a wildcard. If it wasn't so limited on average, weaker ones also couldn't deliberately counter as reliably, that's that messy r/p/s agency.

I think everyone loves that one semi-bad or just straight up bad Pokemon that they use sometimes. For me that's either Pikachu or Froslass. Years of playing through games with Ash or Red-inspired teams got me really good at utilizing Light Ball Pikachu as a hyper-aggressive Special Attacker spamming Thunders, Thunderbolts, in the past unique Hidden Powers. I've also used a Focus Sash utility build with Volt Tackle, Fake Out, Knock Off, or Nuzzle. If it can't get outsped after proccing the sash I just suicide bomb for damage with Volt Tackle or remove a valuable held item with Knock Off. I loved pairing an aggressive Thunder spam Pikachu with Primal Kyogre or Politoad in ORAS. Froslass was another one that performed surprisingly well back in ORAS since it threatened Mega-Rayquaza with strong STAB Ice Beams and because of it's speed I could pickup free KOs with Destiny Bond as soon as Froslass had it's sash procced. As you can see I basically abuse the Focus Sash to make bad Pokemon work semi-well.

the eviolite boost is actually larger than the one shown at 9:20 - eviolite grants a boost to the raw stat, not the base stat, which converts to an actually larger base bulk than if the base stats were multiplied as an example, azumarill has a base stat of 50 - a max of 218 at level 100 or 112 at level 50. if huge power doubled the base stat, that would make a base stat of 100 - max of 328 at level 100 or 167 at level 50. but since it doubles the raw stat, that's a maximum 436 at level 100 or 224 at level 50, roughly 149 base attack, almost tripling the base stat as for cottonee itself, its base bulk with eviolite would go from base 60 def 50 spdef to base 100 def 86 spdef

Haunter and eevee are not weak If we consider the special Z move. But cottonee was awesome. But Nothing beats Pachirisu š® to be the most awesome tournament Pokemon that shocked everyone.

Has anyone ever tried smeargle geomancy + baton pass while protecting with a clefairy?

We really glossed over that Tony Nguyen had a Vanilluxe. Its stats are underwhelming and it's coverage is pretty terrible too. What was its role on the team?

Iād give an honorable shoutout to wigglytuff. Competitive choice specs hyper beam was an actual set that won regionals.

Surprised you didn't mention the FEAR. A humble rattatta that would take down any sweeper. Equip Focus Sash, Endeavor, Quick Attack or other priority move. You see the combo here. Take a hit, go down to 1 HP thanks to Focus Sash, Endeavor to bring enemy's HP to 1, Quick Attack for the kill. Granted, there's a number of counters now, so it isn't as busted as it used to be, but it should still be noted that there was a period of time when people FEARed the Rattata.

In competitive I just donāt see bad or good PokĆ©mon, it makes more sense to say who is more useful. Tauros is stronger than Smeargle but less useful.

that Cottonee set is downright brilliant

Don't focus on becoming the all-around top tier worker, focus on becoming the right man for the job.

Man, I knew that galarian slowking will become my signature pokemon, listen to the most hilarious strategy in history wich I called - Red Card for Bad jokes š Well, we start off with the mvp himself, galarian slowking. Item: Red card, most important move : chilly reception. "So what does chilly reception do?" A good question indeed my friends. Chilly reception switches Out the User with a Pokemon of CHOICE and ALSO gets out a snowscape. So slowking is SLOW what a suprise, but it's also bulky. When it Takes a Hit your opponent is forced to switch Out RANDOMLY and now you gain 100% Switch Advantage WITHOUT takink real damage because slowking has a Hidden ability that heals itself by 1 third of it's max HP. You can take even Further Advantage, because If you pair slowking with a fast enteyhazard mon, the passive damage is real. Your opponent loses hp while you recover them, plus you also can make use Out of the free snowscapy from chilly reception, baxcalibur would be an example. I love slowkingš
