Dear friends and followers welcome back to my channel and to an exceptional video about the AVRO Vulcan Bomber. One of my Instagram followers from the Manchester area was so kind to invite me to their museum in Woodford which used to be the home of one of AVRO’s factories where they built the famous Lancaster bomber during the Second World War.
But I was there to visit, learn and talk about the famous Vulcan which served as high altitude, strategic bomber during the Cold War and the Falkland War.
We’ll be looking at why England needed this plane in the first place and its famous mission during the Falkland War.
If you live in the Manchester area, I highly recommend you to go and visit this fantastic museum.
I have to add that I’m NOT in favour of any war, at any time, at any place! I made this little video to highlight and remind the viewers of this incredible plane and its history!
Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this video!
    Wishing you all the best!
    Your "Captain" Joe

That is by far one of my favorite military aircraft bombers 💯❣️ I am American and the British have some of my all time favorite weapons, aircraft, and traditions. I am terribly sad that I may never have the opportunity to see an AVRO Vulcan fly on person. On that note imma have a cuppa English breakfast tea. Much love from the USA

Love the Vulcan! I've always viewed it as a more elegant, mature companion to the USAF B-1B. There was only one delta wing light/medium bomber on this side of the pond and it was nothing like the Vulcan. Also loved that tidbit about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Being an American, I never knew the U.K. had our backs so strongly. Thank you, Brits!!!

The Soviets just wanted to attack the USA and not the UK also? The UK would have been targeted too, It was mutual defense, we didn’t use the island just to re-fuel, sheesh. Despite this poor understanding of history the Anglo American alliance stood strong and does to this day. That’s why Ivan never tried anything. This awesome bomber was a good reason why he didn’t.

Excellent video, I live within 1/2mile of ex-RAF Finningley (now Doncaster Sheffield airport) where XH558 is based and can be visited. When it was doing it's final tour of the UK before being grounded it was great to see it land every Sunday, then on the final flight Martin Withers did a fabulous show for all of the locals for about 45 minutes doing aerobatics and flybys of all the local villages where many RAF families lived, absolutely fantastic guy.

An Historian that thinks England is Britain, millions of non English People died defending the UK. England this and England that, yes England is a powerful nation but they wouldn’t have won any wars alone. The Scots, Irish and Welsh along with all our other allies paid a dear price defending this country and shouldn’t be overlooked.

A Vulcan saved my life once. I was at the Eastbourne Air Show and I’d gone back to my hotel room and went to bed as I had a headache. I’d actually collapsed with heat exhaustion. When the VB took to the sky, it made so much noise, it shook me awake. I think, had I not been woken up, there would have been a very different outcome. Love those planes, sad it’s now not even an air show piece.

You act as if the leaders of Britain didn't have their own problems with the Soviet Union and Communism. Is this the new alternative history? The entire Cold War was the Americans' fault? It displays a shocking ignorance of Britain's own history. You might start with reading about Winston Churchill after WWII.

There’s been two times in my life that I’ve witnessed a plane stop everyone in their tracks, first being Concorde (story for another day) and secondly the Vulcan at Goodwood festival of speed. I’d seen the Vulcan many times, however Goodwood was different. They had no flight plan as such for the area, due to Goodwood being on a hill they had to come in low to not appear far away and did it come in low! At one point it looked to be skimming the trees, then climbing hard, full power, drowning out everyone and everything. Remember looking around and everyone was awestruck, the power and noise, could feel it through your body, the ground shook. Everyone was waiting for the Vulcan to arrive but even knowing that it was coming didn’t stop the surprise of actually seeing it that day. Quite often the word legendary is over used but I’d say the Vulcan was legendary, it made people who weren’t interested in planes look up with their mouth open. Surely that’s testament to a great machine. Great video 👍 🇬🇧

Very good and very informative as usual. Hats off for this daring raid which in addition was a technical exploit. I am French so please forgive my awkwardness in English if any. "...the Exocet the French sold to the argentinians, thank you very much"... I could answer you're welcome (I am kidding). Well, sorry for the Exocet but remember: 1. The French could not know when they sold these Exocet that the argentinians would invade the Falklands 2. At the time France supported the UK from day one, providing all the available data about the Super-Etendard-Exocet couple to the British in order to allow them to be as prepared as possible against this threat 3. By the way you can thank the americans as well since most of the argentinian strikes on the Falklands were performed by A4 Skyhawks 4. But the ironic part of it is that the main threat for the Vulcan that day was Tigercat missiles provided by ... the British. Anyway, coming back to your videos, although I have some knowledge in aviation (I am an aviation enthousiast and I have been in the aviation business for more than 20 years: helicopter pilot in the army and then experimental test pilot), I always learn something from your excellent work that I really enjoy. Great job. Best regards
