For those that don't know, it's mainly cornering speed where F1 cars are miles ahead. They can take Eou Rouge at full throttle around 300km/h (200mph). While GT cars have to lift and can maybe do that turn at around 150 or 160mph. (250km/h). Also, at top speed, the weight of F1 cars allow them to reach top speed in seconds.
Vor 2 Monate
@azynkron +6
Well, you're not wrong but it's both breaking ability and cornering speed that makes the difference. The F1 can break much later than a, in this case, a GT3 car. So, it carries the speed longer and takes the corners faster. That's is what makes is faster around a track. The acceleration is almost on par with other racing cars and the top speed is not that impressive either.
Vor 2 Monate
@jorgeyhemi5.7 +1
@azynkron lol braking is no different. Yeah, they might be able to stop a little sooner, but it has no difference 🤣. WEC cars stop just as quickly as F1 cars 🤣. It's corning speed and acceleration that F1 cars are different buddy.

@azynkron yeah nah. It's all the aerodynamic downforce that F1 cars are able to produce. The presenter walked up to the GT car while the driver put his helmet on and entered the car at a racetrack describing the capabilities and speed of the vehicle, while on a split screen you could see an overhead view of the race track he was about to drive around and in real time he took off while you could monitor his progress around the track. Then the presenter continued walking on to the next participant the rider of a Motor GP Motorcycle who put his helmet on and started to proceed around the race track, with the presenter giving the previous stats on it's capabilities as the previous car. Again you could still watch the progress in real time of both of them as they tore around the track with the motorcycle catching up to the first car quickly. The presenter then walked up to the driver of an F1 car and the same process went on. So in real time you watched the F1 car catch and overtake both others easily after they both had substantial head starts giving us a real clear indication of how fast those things go. Of course there are era's of f1 cars and certain one's would be easier to operate than others but on all of them normal humans would not be able to make this car work anywhere close to it's limit. Tricky thing about these cars is that they need to be driven on the limit for them to even work properly like you said. Need to go fast enough to cool the car properly, brake hard enough to heat them properly, turn hard enough to get the tires up to temperature and get them to even work. It's either driving super slow at like 10% speed or 95% at minimum to make these even work. On top of that you would need to do huge amounts of studying to figure out even the most basic settings you'd need on the steering wheel to get around the track properly.
Vor 2 Monate@azynkron +6
Well, you're not wrong but it's both breaking ability and cornering speed that makes the difference. The F1 can break much later than a, in this case, a GT3 car. So, it carries the speed longer and takes the corners faster. That's is what makes is faster around a track. The acceleration is almost on par with other racing cars and the top speed is not that impressive either.
Vor 2 Monate@jorgeyhemi5.7 +1
@azynkron lol braking is no different. Yeah, they might be able to stop a little sooner, but it has no difference 🤣. WEC cars stop just as quickly as F1 cars 🤣. It's corning speed and acceleration that F1 cars are different buddy.

@azynkron yeah nah. It's all the aerodynamic downforce that F1 cars are able to produce. You get every racing category in the world and get them to Spa-Francorchamps to take on that same section (pit straight - Eau Rouge and through Raidillon) 1 after the other foot flat to the floor, the F1 car will be the only 1 to not leave the track. I know an automotive journalist who's had the opportunity to take a couple of F1 cars out on tracks in Europe. He tells me there's literally nothing that can prepare you for it. He himself has basically spent a lifetime raising and he said the first time he couldn't even get the tires up to temperature. So he did a bunch of prep for the second attempt a few years later and you still said that he felt like rank amateurs could have flown past him. Your body becomes part of the braking system. The full force of your leg plus the g-force under braking throwing your body into that pedal and you said he never got over two-thirds brake pressure. Three laps and he said his leg was cramping up. The way they're driven by the pros it looks so smooth but it's a heavy task and it's pretty violent.
Vor 2 Monate@Horneycorn
Yeah and imagine doing that for 2 hours straight on the absolute limit. People underestimate how much talent and training is involved to even be able to finish the race, let alone do well. I once saw a comparison between a GT car, a motor GP Motorcycle and an F1 car on a tv show one day. It's the best video I've ever seen that shows the capabilities and speed of them.
