Without shitty version of capitalism and drugs America would cease to be an empire in not time. Who would sign up to go to some far away land to kill some poor bastards and possibly get killed or mentally scarred in a process, if that person would have a chance for fulfilling and happy life right where he lives.
He looks like Edward Norton's cousin
I don't really like this guy Joe is talking to. He talks. That is all.
Instead of keeping people on the endless revolving doors of drug rehabs and opioid replacement drugs, let's provide medical detox and accessible mental health care. Opioid addiction is not the issue, but the consequence of emotional distress. We need to fix our mental health care system and we will see a tremendous improvement not only in the opioid crisis but also in homelessness and crime.
Nicotine in of itself isn't very addicting -.- The majority of the addiction is from the chemicals in cigarettes. Hence why people who smoke pipe and cigars aren't addicted.
Super inspiring, thank you
Too much money invested in prisons to swing the pendulum the other way I'm afraid. That's why they're starting off small, with weed
I wanna bail north America and go to Europe. But every terrible war that's escalated to massive casualties has been on that side of the globe. Why?
So basically I need to move out of this fucking country
This is the solution to the problem period.
Those countries are the equivalent of a large American city or a small state. It wouldn't work on the federal level here.
why wouldn't it? At the very least, legalizing hard drugs and making it legal to carry a certain amount would get so many people out of prisons. Obviously ban advertising for them. The money saved by not incarcerating those people could be put towards places to treat addicts and help them get off the drugs or not if they don't want too. I have not looked up any statistics but I am sure we could do something like what Switzerland does, maybe not quite the same. We would probably never want business allowed to sell to users though, since they obviously have an incentive to get more drug users.
This would work. But we dont get herion we get methadone which is worse lol withdrawl wise
You didnt say about ibegan can stop all adicons 24 hawers
You know there is another Opioid Crisis that no one is talking about. it's those poor souls who the pills are made for and the only things that help them cope, but now they cannot get because of the War on them. I don't think I heard one mention of them in the last 5 plus years they been heavily talking about this.
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of helping people by "treating them like people", but let's not forget these things were actively pushed into people's lives, by people they were supposed to trust. All for a short-term profit. Do we not hold the tobacco industry responsible for their actions? Same here, but this time it's the pharmaceutical industry.
Hopelessness and addiction are best friends
We don't fix problems that are profitable here in the US. It's unfortunate but very true we could cure cancer, aids, hep C and who knows what else but because money is made off of peoples suffering they don't do it.
On it's own nicotine as a chemical is only mildy addictive. Doesn't even come close to things like Heroin or Fentanyl. It's inhibitors introduced into burned tobacco that makes a chemical cocktail powers of magnitude more addictive than simply nicotine. You would expect someone who is so deep into this to understand the basic chemistry of what he incorrectly claims to be "the strongest chemical hook that we've ever known". Yep you read right. British Tobacco legally makes your cigarettes thousands of times more addictive to drive sales :)
How do know Harvard faculty doesn't have a problem with opioids? The only "problem" most-not all- users have is when they run out. Also, his thesis would say people in Hollywood don't do drugs because they have everything.
Switzerland is 8.5 million, btw.
Having an arbitrary war on something doesn't fix it. Doctors aren't equally held accountable for there actions as patients.
It also makes to much money but got to legalize it all. If we started doing what Portugal did starting 10 years ago we would be that much closer to an end but in this country they’ll never make every drug legal but it works people realize if they don’t want to contribute it’s on them and if your not breaking the law it does take some of the fun out of it. In high school drank all the time turned 21 barely drank anymore. I was opiate addict for at least 15 years half the rush was trying to find creative ways to get cash and all was illegal but somehow in Portugal barely anyone gets highanymore and it worked maybe population to big here but it took them 15 years to get it to work they changed everything and when you get generations came they didn’t want to use. It starts with the kids adults are to far gone change mindset in children the dare program was the worst tell a child don’t do first thing they do is the thing you say don’t do
Joe was so mannered. Didn't say a word for 10 mins, no interjections, no two people talking at the same time.
Real I love this one ,,,,
This guy gets it. I would go one step further and not only find why you don't want to be present, but also find that why you do want to be present. I think it one of four things, Intimacy, Power, Peace, Fun. People usually make decisions based on the pursuit of one things, in life. Gives us a reason to be alive.
Globally and on the basis of gross domestic product at purchasing power parity Switzerland is ranked 9th, the US 10th and Portugal 42nd.
Switzerland has 8 million citizens
Switzerland has a population of 8.5 million actually
I like what the swiss are doing. Most americans feel this way. Poverty causes drug abuse and crime...not drugs. Its a proven fact! If you want to be antidrug be antipoverty.
What a wonderfully articulate bloke.Western societies have always had a need for 'un touchables' - people to demonise and blame for its ills - so in the face of all that misery money, why help us at all. You couldn't ask for a better punching bag.
The desolate desperate despair pills
6 years sober come March, Roxie 30 4 30mg a day, started because of wisdom teeth surgeries back to back to back to back since diabetic , so they gave me 60+ pills per time, and my wrist shattered around then to so I kept getting referred/told to go to urgent care after checking with my primary care etc... this shit ruined my life. I smoke 2+ packs a day now or marb menthol 100s my stomach is done I been typr1 diab. Since 13 months old, then gastroparesis and diab retinapothy @ age of 18,,, so blind now aswell, it kicked off my addiction even more, but I got sober on my own violition I told my pa, I never talk to em never had since divorce @ 13 that is the whole reason I started drinking smoking. At 13 1/2-14 until 21 years old when I got sober... my gastrop has gotten beyond control I just want to die and this is the time for someone to switch back to using drugs since sobriety isn’t helping anything, else t anything I feel the pain more now since sober, it’s hell.

Who are those 640 idiots, who DIDN'T like this???
*America laughs in money*
Ok this is very important. This is not actually true. There have been countless deaths off of legal herion, my uncle included just this past summer. This does not solve the problem. People get way more addicted to way worse drugs in these programs it just is legal. That doesn’t make it better. Eventually people can take the drugs home and there have been so many deaths due to this.
He is full of shite . But are you from Switzerland ?
Real solutions to real problems that have multiple benefits. How nice.
Notice how all these solutions were looked for after white folks started to use drugs en masse. especially in the US. Noone gave a damn when poor black people were hooked on crack. Especially with opioids, the adverts cue the nice music and show a family doing normal stuff. What happened to the narrative that thugs and idiots took drugs and it was there choice and they should be locked up for decades?
But if we fund heroin treatment how will we fund the $800 "defense" budget?
I think this should be applied for testing in America, but I foresee a high recidivism rate or equal to traditional dual-diagnosis rehabs.
Wonder if this works in a society that is not homogeneous like Switzerland and Portugal 10 years ago, where folks dont share the same culture, values, beliefs etc.
Solution to the Opioid problem..........STOP SEEING YOUR DOCTOR
Something's not right here most people don't really want to quit that drug I scence something is not real heRe
You are feeling it right
Switzerland has the population of Florida this shit wouldn’t never work for USA. The clinic would be Robbed the first morning lol.
Shit, i tell everyone legalizing all drugs is how we fight addiction and cartels. It only makes sense.
Been on Methadone for almost 20 years. Methadone helps with my chronic pain, and the “addiction” or the term that better fits me chemical dependency issues. Yes, their is a difference between addiction and chemistry dependency. Methadone saves my life. If I didn’t have a way to get to the clinic and or pay for it I’d be dead. Had a private practice doc that use to prescribe it until this “opioid Crisis” hit and or gov. officials (who are NOT DOCTORS) made laws which prevented my first issue which is chronic pain. The doc switched me to methadone because he knew I was chemical dependent on pain killers. The gov. forced him to treat his patients differently than he thought was appropriate! Now I have to drive 100miles, every week, round trip,to go to a methadone clinic to get my meds. The most meds you can get at once is one week. I have almost 20 years of clean drug screens and good med counts, but yet all I can get is one week of meds due to our Gov. Thanks! Lol.
You know methadone is at the top of Opioid scale
They should do this in lindsay ont theres a odd death everyother day its crazzy
Lindsay,Ontario is a sad place right now I was with a woman with a 22 year old son who was a drug addict.he died of a fentynal overdose 6 years ago ..
The WAR on drugs What a joke!
British accents are so lame
Leave gin alone!
Former OH AG Mike DeWine said about the opioid epidemic _"We can NOT arrest our way out of [this crisis]."_ When asked about Blacks and the Crack epidemic where they DID try to arrest their way out of it, _"We didn't see that as our issue"_
4:27 "Legalization is the way to restore order"
it's not the nicotine that people are hooked too, and that's the reason nicotine patches don't work. And pharmaceutical companies know this. So does big tobacco. And after he made his case for smoking, I got to know that he doesn't really know what he is talking about, he is speculating, a lot. If you can't get the cigarettes and nicotine right, you sure as hell wont get heroin, crack and cocaine right.
Fuuuuuuuuuck... Just.. wow.
