For people with the iPad, the person doesn’t have to be in your messages to call them. As long as you have your iPhone set to allow calls to be routed to your iPad (or Mac) you can call them from the contacts app!

@Julia. correct. As long as the iPad is on WiFi and you have your phone nearby it will work just fine! For example, I have my phone on charge at night in my room and I take calls from my iPad in the living room. Phone just has to be on.

Pretty cool. I’ve thought about trying that. I would’ve done it a little differently. Probably a folio case/Smart Keyboard instead of the magic keyboard because it’s more versatile and easier to maneuver. And then pair some AirPods or other Bluetooth for phone calls. As for carrying it, I’d get one of those super thin, single strap carrier bags that go across your body. Good video. And your little boy is adorable man!

When I get into the actual productivity of the Ipad it's a pretty good tool that extends my workflow, I actually like typing emails and writing documents and electronic signature and stuff. Putting together floor plans and being able to draw them out use the ruler tool and map things out is pretty nice. I enjoy checking things off my to do list and then when I'm done can kick back and enjoy media with all those different streaming apps. It works for me as my only machine :) I do wish Files app was a bit more robust or at least adding a progress bar but other than that I don't really have many qualms with it being my sole machine.

Great video, man! When it comes to the privacy aspects on voice calls, my go-anywhere iPad Pro bag always has a pair of AirPods Pro on board.

This could’ve been done with 2018 Pro with similar results…The iPad Pro is my favorite device.

Got some great tips from this video. Have now set up my iPad Air to receive phone calls and messages from my phone. I also live in an area where if you don’t have wifi calling you don’t have signal and my iPad has always received a better wifi signal than my phone. So am looking forward to trying out the calling via iPad.

A simple iPad Pro as replacement test: 1. Easy transfer of files from iPad to external back-up, 2. edit photos info data such as add place, people, date. So far it seems, Apple does not want you to use the iPad pro as replacement.

I love my M1 iPad! Works really well and does all I need for editing my website/texts/videos/social media. Only thing I want is for iPad OS to allow for multiple audio streams at once rather than cutting out audio when another plays

Here are 2 challenges for you; 1) iPad and Apple Pencil only and 2) iPad and voice only (voice dictation and the Accessibility Voice Control Grid, Also, with iPadOS 15 the iPhone only apps can now rotate although I still agree with you that they should all have an iPad version.

Walking around with the pen on the side gave me some huge anxiety. It falls off so easily. Glad you made it to the end of the day with it still attached.

I believe the ability to send and receive phone calls and SMS on the iPad relies on the phone being connected to the internet to work (the iPad communicates with the phone though the internet, and then everything goes through the phone).

There are apps that you can put an email in and get a phone number for your iPad. I was using those to communicate with SMS devices years before I ever got a cell phone. I had no phone in my teens but I had an iPad mini and it worked for me.

Just came across this, fun times. I'm kinda living the iPad only challenge. I had a 2010 MBP that finally bit the dust last year, and out of desperation and morbid curiosity, I got the credit at Best Buy to get a new Mac, so I thought I'd test drive an iPad Pro with a folio case for a week or so and see what it might be like, still safe within the return period. Well, a few days in a guy in a stolen vehicle plowed into me and destroyed my vehicle, and somehow managed to flee the scene on foot. I was without a vehicle for many months and some minor medical stuff to deal with. I never got the chance to return that for a Macbook, and as an hourly warehouse peon, I don't remotely make the money to just get a new laptop, so my only "computer" is an iPad and its going to be stuck that way for a long time to come. I'm not mad though, it's alot better than nothing and I'm grateful to have something. Peace big homey, hope little man is well 🙂

My iPhone die last year and I had to wait for a replacement for a week, I used my iPad the whole time, it was goofy to answer phone call outside but if you use your headphones (airpods etc) it makes it better. I am also a tmobile user so I used Digits. I could have gotten used to it. Not bad having options.

to be fair, you do need an iphone with wifi calling and remote calling enabled in the settings to make regular gsm/cdma phone calls…so you were technically using the ipad and the iphone…

So long as your iPad and iPhone are on the same WiFi, your iPad can make calls using your iPhone (essentially, your iPad becomes input/output for your iPhone).

Great video. I only use my iPhone when I’m outside the house. When I’m home i use my iPad unless I’m in my office, at which I’ll use my MacBook. I never touch my phone when I’m inside my house

I use an iPad as my daily computer. My MacBook, grant it an older one, was just sitting on my desk collecting dust. I said older MacBook cause I currently have one but, I actually had the M1 MacBook Air and ended up selling it due to it just sitting on my desk and getting the iPad Air. I use it daily to watch your videos while I’m working lol. I also use it for light graphics work for my church. Keep the videos coming. Loving your channel!!!
