@Frolence Aman they sign a paper when arranging trip saying whether they want to be left on mountain upon death or body retrieved, if possible, and sent home. Everyone who climbs 8,000 meter mountains know death could happen and they decide to climb anyways so can't blame sherpas or Nepali government.

Isnt it just unrealistic to go and find body/belongings of someone who died almost a century ago. And there are thousands of bodies upthere ,how will they know its Irvin's body !!

This highlights basically everything wrong with modern day climbing. It makes my blood run cold, all the preaching of respect and reverence for the sherpas. Only to betray them.

That was really disappointing. This appeared to be a token gesture attempt at understanding what happened to Mallory. There are many excellent videos documenting teams journeys to the summit of Everest. This team was deceitful to the sherpas and failed to put together a skilled group of climbers and support crew to achieve their goal, and in doing so simply followed the footsteps of 100's of previous guided groups. I was expecting at least the setting up of roped routes to the area of interest, not just a cursory wander around by one unassisted member with crampons and a single ice tool.

Loving this doco. But why weren't they honest with the sherpas beforehand about their intention to search instead of waiting until so high up? Surely being honest about their search intentions would have been best? These guys lay their lives and livelihoods on the line.

Oh my...this is Fabulous and awe inspiring.

Fantastic camera work which really shows how incredibly difficult the route is, and that Mallory and Irvine went up there by themselves with only the most minimal equipment. Either they summited or they did not, and perhaps if they ever find Irvine's body and his camera, the mystery will be solved. But whatever the truth is, obviously they died of fatigue and altitude sickness and the cold on the way down. There is no way they could have returned alive.

Not three minutes of film without an advert. This becomes unbearable to watch!

Interesting documentary. Award winning photography of Everest. Sadly spoiled for me by the self indulgent commentary and the unethical treatment of the Sherpas.

Wow people clearly stopped watching after they told the sherpas the real plan. To tell you what happened past that point: they summited for the sherpas or else they would've never summited and would've went searching. On way down the guy went off a dozen meters to check and found nothing. - yes they deceived the sherpas at first but they then followed what they said and even went to the summit so that the sherpas keep their jobs and get paid. Ppl in comments clearly didn't watch the entire video or English is your third language and barely understood what happened. This, this is just has bad has what everest has become. People judging without all the info. Ffs.

Its ridiculous how a miniscule thought becomes so overwhelmingly present that people get hypnotized to even deceive others. Tengboche Rinpoche told them about the greed, the mountain fever. Maybe its the wrong term, yet Irvine's equipment was their summit. Thinking of it objectivly: a fragile camera been up there for almost 100 years will probably never been found as it likewise fall into a crevasse thousand of meters below. And even if, what it will change? -Nothing. Everest was an adventure before capitalism put its chains arround it.

So what happened with the Sherpas?? They get in trouble??

The narrator needs some oxygen and some water. I wish altitudes were expressed in meters and narration was not so melodramatic and emphatic. And they found out nothing, the preamble sounded arrogant. Nothing really planned, just some deceit and disrespect to the sherpas. Really contradictory and ultimately a cliche they wanted to avoid.

Mountaineering has to be a niche sport and only professionals should be doing it. Its like im not a pilot but i have landed A380 with the help of captain but I call him a sherpa!

A very well shot and produced short film, very quickly ruined. Nothing to be proud of here.

It's just insanity - we aren't supposed to be up there - those sherpas are responsible for every single person who has ever reached the top and not one of you would ever have reached it without them - they are the heros - not the selfish, narcissistic rich folks trying to prove an egocentric point.

I don't think Irvine's body will ever be found if he fell from step they think Mallory left him at he fell down north face into the Khumbu icefall. If that happened there'd be nothing left of his body now.
