For me the several tabs is an object permanence thing. If I don’t keep a tab open I feel like I’ll forget to finish whatever I was doing with it. Especially true during finals season lol

I'm a perfect combination of both of them. Like Deven, I keep my home screen very minimal and organized with few shortcuts, but like Aileen, I'm a person who likes to have multiple windows with multiple tabs so I don't forget things I need to get back to.

My desktop has to be clear. I have a lot of projects so my desktop background is a table I made where I divided the screen into started and finished projects columns. So I can place the due projects/documents under the respective column. The rest of the mess goes into a single folder called "stuff". Since I have a lot to research, I usually have tons of tabs open on my browser. So my desktop is neat while my browser is pretty crowded.

relatableee tho. my desktop is freaking clean like there is only 4 icon on screen. the rest of the stuff like softwares/important folders i need, i pinned them in start under their own category. the only time my dekstop gonna be messy would be when im in a absolute last minute project rush xD. then back to normal after submission.

When working on an art piece I always have like 20 tabs open and a ton of reference saved to my desktop. When I did to reduce this is making sorted folders to keep my reference images and I would save websites in designated bookmark folders. I know it may seem like too much extra work, but its worth it not to make my computer have a stroke especially when I also have to work on photoshop ^^”

Mine is similar with Deven. I cannot work with so many tabs open and my home screen also needs to have atmost 3-4 folders and apps. I always get teased by my friends about being a programmer and not working with too much tabs 🤣🤣

As for the home screen, I only have This PC, Recycle Bin, Games(all of them are in shortcut), YouTube, Steam and Discord. And as for taskbar, I only have my browser, notepad and unreal engine

While y'all are talking about having 2 or 3 tabs open, I'm here closing the entire browser and when needed i just check the bookmark or the history of my browser to find the page i need😁

The boyfriend would die seeing my google tabs open with 7 groups of 20 each, Spotify, 3 files tabs open, and 7 Word documents. Then I shout at my laptop asking why it’s so slow and why the system crashes every hour. But on the good side my Home Screen is very tidy and everything is in folders.

You can control+click on your background and then click on use stacks it’s gonna make it so much better. Also you can make a folder that all screenshots will be saved in. Just press command+shift+5 and a bar should pop up. Click on options and then on top it says save to. Under save to click other location. It’s gonna open a finder window. Click on desktop and then create a folder in desktop using the button on the bottom. Name the folder Screenshots. Then click on choose.

Little tip from someone who knows a bit about MacBooks: all the stuff on your screen is actively using computing resources all the time because macOS is built to have everything ready to display the stuff you have on the front screen faster. I would start saving stuff in your finder and link the folders to the bottom row to have instant access to them and be more organized

@KakeAllDeWae windows also gets slowed down by having too much shit on your desktop though most computers are fast enough and have enough memory not matter all that much but it's still technically wasting performance though. If your still in highschool keep your desktop organized because I have seen filling your desktop up make these computers unusable slow.

Same with Windows. It pains me when coworkers call me to take a look at their "slow" computer and then I see an absolute mess of files on their desktop. It was never meant to be a place to store files

It hurts me inside when I see people open their laptop screen that fast and forceful. I have had a laptop and have witnessed other people's laptops break at the hinge internally to the point that the screen flickers and then eventually permanently goes blank and dies.

It hurts even more when people grab their laptops by the screen to go to another room "because it's more convenient". And I'm talking from experience because my gf did it. Broke the hinges, broke the screen and I had to repair it. It's a bit painful to see that, but I fixed it and now is still working after years of service

Make sure the cabled didnt just get unplugged if its already broken no point in noy attemping a repair so simple

Here’s a tip: (Just letting you know, idk if this only works on Mac or not) If you use use Two fingers on your mouse and click on a tab (on chrome), than you can click the option that says create group or smth like that lol. Then you can two finger click on other tabs and click add to group and click on the group you just created. Now you can stay organized! Hope this helps lol

wow.. i remember a really long time ago i saw my brothers laptop screen and the whole screen was FILLED with documents, folders, and apps.

Quick recommendation for people that have too many google tabs open! Put the website in your bookmarks then you can close the tab and open it when needed, I found this out not that long ago and it helps a bunch with the fan going BRrrrRrRRrRrrRrRr

They do that so that you eventually stop wanting to be in the relationship on your own instead of breaking up with you. Here's a tip I learned from my coworker: Create folders, name them and then place them on the desktop and separate the files by category like: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 etc.

I organize my folders a lot but didn’t think of putting them by year. Nice one.

I loved it when I cleaned my laptop out from all the tabs or files, it was just so refreshing. Then I was ready for another term, of even more open tabs.

I got so stressed of scrolling through each tab that I separated the windows. I was bothered but too lazy to sort my desktop so I just hide the icons, lol.

The desktop is inexcusable, the tabs though, fair enough. As a Uni student, having 20+ tabs always open is a requirement

when he said "this might trigger people with ocd" i got triggered even more from that but its most of the comments (primarily from kids, i think some people in the comments section actually has ocd) that really reached my pinnacle as a person with ACTUAL ocd it has been a living hell and i have been in bed for almost every single day to not encounter anything that would alert my ocd, but i dont think thats a practical tactic because i developed schizophrenia from it, i imagine myself counting from 1-100 for atleast 10 times and tapping my pillows left to right, left to right, etc. i dont think people dont realize how generalized ocd becomes to the point its to make things "perfect" ??? yes i know, its a common type of ocd but PLEASE its not all about perfecion im still so pissed on how ocd aesthetic is still so normalized, i know i might seem overmelodramatic but please

This is a tip for if you have a Chromebook or a Windows. IDK if other brands have this. My school gives out Chromebooks, and i have a lot of tabs on it. And so I sort the tabs by what they have in common (grouping them). To do this, - hold arrow on top of a tab you want to categorize - use two fingers to tap on the touchpad - there should be a small screen that pops up. And the third should be add to group. And either choose new group or add to group With a mouse, click on the left side and the same thing as above should pop up.

As a student, I organize my desktop folders by classes and have separate folders for different topics. Coding projects are organized by language and type. When the semester ends I put all my class folders in a semester folder and put that in my "Archives" folder

I'm almost the same, I have all classes organized by folders in the Documents folder, a separated folder for programming organized by language and classes in my home directory and when the semester ends, I throw all the contents in the Documents folder in a local SMB server labeled by semesters and wipe my computer from last semester's content
