Motorcycle is the vehicle we choose to have an adventure. Reliability and cost are important factors for "adventure" riders. That is why that kind of bikes are definitely not ideal for the average biker. Great performance in most of the cases is just unnecessary. We buy cheap and reliable bikes and use the money to travel and explore new places. I am a fun of f9 but in this review they only considered the on and off road performance to come to a conclusion. Factors like Long term reliability, maintenance cost , troubleshooting in remote places away from dealerships, spare parts costs, problems in case of low quality fuel and others are also crucially important.

@Colossal Biff Linus started the channel working for NCIX and then asked for it when they started branching out and he wanted to go out on his own. A channel with a energetic host who in fact works for a company, where you bond much more with the host then the store.
Vor 2 Monate
Quill Maurer
The earlier videos were more gear-reviews focused, relating to the products they sold. Gradually they've become more creative, more focused on exploring the motorcycling world and all its quirks, less attached to their business. And the sponsorships they have are relevant to their content, usually equipment they use in making their own videos as seen here - none of the usual Manscaped and Raid Shadow Legends and Squarespace or whatever. Given the credibility this channel has built up I doubt they'd take a sponsorship they didn't believe in.

Ducati seem to have done a decent job on what is sort of their first real ADV bike. But, the serious flaws I see (not mentioned here but mentioned in Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike's vid are the completely unsealed cam belt area (HUGE design failure), and total lack of serviceability of the air filter. Interesting, but I'll keep my 890 R with it's lower price, better suspension, lower CG, better aftermarket, etc.

But in those truly rare instances...because I MYSELF SCREWED UP (AHEM!)...it becomes a matter of thrusting my arms into the West Virginia atmosphere, spreading my hands apart, and pleading with the Lord in the Highest a brief explanation of Why did You allow me to buy THIS??? After then begging Him forgiveness, I repent and ride, seeking perfection and other Beemer aficionados on the backroads. Which simply won't be found here in the Mountain State... @Dirt Pony Oh, it's impossible to quit, my dear friend 😂 As a 3rd generation Ducatista from a family of Ducatisti, I perfectly know that ours is more a kind of obsession rather than a rational choice. Luckily, I'm from Rome so plenty of Ducati authorized mechanics here. I had Monster, Panigale 899, Panigale 959 and now a Panigale V2 Bayliss that I love it... yet my real dream is the new Panigale V4 SP2: those carbon winglets and that beautifully disturbing matt black livery with red details: OH MIO DIO!!! To die for. Unluckily, my girlfriend already told me that she would dump me immediately if I only dare to show up with a war machine like that... and maybe she'd be right: you know, honestly, I'm not exactly a pilot and 155HP already are more than enough for me, let alone 215HP... it would be nothing but insane. We just had a baby, it would be very cruel to me to make him an orphan 😂. But Borgo Panigale flows in my veins, there's nothing I can do about it: Semper Fidelis.

Italian bikes are obviously the most beautiful ones by far BUT foreigners should buy them only if they have an official mechanic authorized by the brand nearby or, alternatively, a very skilled one as they're built with a very different philosophy than japanese bikes as the latters are mass-produced bike sold everywhere in the world in terms of millions so is abolutely needed that even a Burkina Faso 3-fingered mechanic (with all due respect) must be able to fix them, easily. On the contrary, Italian bikes are often built by small or medium, high quality brands (ever heard of Moto Morini and their HAND-MADE bikes like the Milano 1200cc or the Super Scrambler with the same engine? I mean, at least until 2-3 years ago, sadly now it's a Chinese-owned brand and their bikes, even if still designed in Italia are completely different beasts) and basically sold in developed countries only and in terms of thousands (not millions): these bikes have basically no play and zero tolerance among their components, then is absolutely fundamental that only very, very skilled mechanics that already know'em should put their hands on them. Otherwise, your expensive, beautiful Ducati, MV Agusta, Aprilia et al will spend more time broken than fixed. I don't know if my message is clear as English is only my 3rd language behind Italiano, my native tongue, and Français but that's a very important thing that every foreigner should understand before buying an Italian bike: no authorized mechanic nearby? Well, than buy Honda or Yamaha: sure, less beautiful and a bit aseptic... but far less headaches, trust me.

Vor 2 Monate

@Questioner Puig screen is no quieter but I ride helmetless most of the time and it allows me to wear glasses that get blown off on bikes with no windshield and on the X300 with the stock shield. No noticeable impact on mileage. The 43t rear sprocket results in essentially the same final drive ratio as the 15t front, costs just $28, takes just 10min, and technically sheds a few grams of unsprung weight. The only rubber cushioned 15t front sprocket available from JT is narrower than stock requiring three internal transmission shims be sourced and stacked properly to make up the difference. As a bike mechanic, I find it quite puzzling why the front sprocket swap seems to be the preferred method. I've read accounts of three 250lb good-ole-boys jumping up and down on a 3ft breaker bar trying to loosen the output shaft nut. How much easier to pop the rear wheel off right quick and undo five 14mm nuts. I've no plans to do serious single track so the stock granny 1st gear is of no use to me and I can still start off in 2nd gear with the 43t rear with very little clutch slip. Some guys on the forum have done BOTH the 15t front and 43t rear with reported success.
Vor 2 Monate
Questioner
@Some Jerk, do you find the Puig screen makes it quieter at highway speeds? Does it hurt fuel consumption? (Range was another huge consideration for choosing this over the Honda - I live far from anywhere else) Those side cases look nice, much more angular than the Kawasaki, though I think mine would also fit three half gallon jugs. Any reason why you chose to swap the rear sprocket instead of the front? How is your minimum off-clutch speed? (Lots of rough dirt roads around here)
Vor 2 Monate
Some Jerk
@Questioner I ended up with a trio from Shad, 23L per side and 33L top. Can fit three 1/2 gallon jugs of milk vertical in one side case. Full face helmet fits in the top. Favorite mod so far is the 43t rear sprocket. Hitting 3rd gear crossing an intersection got old. My colleague (I'm a bike builder) is developing a cold air intake for the X300. He has a dyno, a 3D printer, and the ECU flash dongle. So I bought a Delkevic full exhaust for mine to be installed when the snow comes. He's going to develop 3 flashes, one for stock exhaust, one for a slip-on, and one for a full exhaust, all to be sold as a "mail him your ECU" package along with his intake. That will likely be my favorite mod, a 25% power increase. I also bought a Puig screen and Kawasaki hand guards.
Vor 2 Monate
Questioner
@Some Jerk I bought Kawasaki luggage to get a matching key. A little disappointed in the indented sides stealing cargo space, but I can usually squish a 4L jug of milk in them, among other groceries. Boxes of cereal are the biggest challenge, they often go in the top case. What about you? Favourite mods? I saw that rectangle and thought it looked useful for something. I'd like to add cruise control, the grips are smaller diameter than my old bike and my throttle hand starts cramping on longer trips.

As always, great job Ryan. I've come to disklike all the electronics on modern bikes. I own a new GSA and it's just too many doodads, sensors, readouts and things to go wrong. Sometimes the bike reports faults that aren't actually there but gives a improper fault code... I miss analog. You got on the bike and rode it. You didn't have to be a technician or monitor manager or buy a special code reader. I also don't need 100+ horsepower...anywhere. Ultimately, I actually prefer older bikes when it was so much simpler. Fortunately, there are plenty still around so choices abound. Actually, the ONLY real reason I bought the GSA was because I could get the low-suspension model (manufacturers take note). Oddly, so many manufacturers have bastardized the very concept of "adventure". In some ways, it's rather sad so many new-to-motorcycle riders will never know the real spirit and fun of riding a motorcycle that was actually designed for the experience versus the "comfort".

@Daniel Barber Had mine for almost 2 years, thought the concept of aircooled and shaft driven was very analog but it has been now in the shop fnow for 3 weeks and they still can't figure out whats going on thanks to the electronics / sensors causing it most the time to not cold start ... =(

It's the best of the Meerkat Motorcycles, allowing petite poseurs an opportunity to stand on the pegs as they weave through traffic, as I saw one doing on the Throgs Neck Bridge a few weeks ago. Hey, it's the kind of "adventure" riding people who really own these machines do in the real world.

Vor 2 MonateQuill Maurer
@Andrew Weitzman True, they'd surely do something hilarious and absurd with it. More than just having a guy counting money in the background. Regularcars did a pretty good take on it, putting the thing on a snare drum and letting it rattle around, saying "We did your sponsor thing, now give us money!"
Vor 2 MonateAndrew Weitzman
@Quill Maurer I would honest pay good money for Ryan and the F9 team to do a Manscaped shill segment. I am not sure what would come out. But it would definitely be memorable.
Vor 2 MonateMawyman2316
@Colossal Biff Linus started the channel working for NCIX and then asked for it when they started branching out and he wanted to go out on his own. I was drawing a parallel although so far ryan hasn’t run off and made it his own. A channel with a energetic host who in fact works for a company, where you bond much more with the host then the store.
Vor 2 MonateQuill Maurer

I own a Beemer, and it's a bike that by design simply refuses to be upsetting. Yamahas can be seen here in the Mid Ohio River Valley , but KTMs are as rarely seen as the elusive Sasquatch. And a Merry Christmas to ye, good Sir!

Vor MonatDirt Pony
@Davide Ascanio Visconti Borghese My husband who is a diehard Suzuki man agrees with you and desperately wishes I would quit my obsession with Ducati and BMW. But.... I'm contractually obligated and signed with a blood oath. It's too late for me but perhaps this will serve as a warning and save another. 😉
Vor MonatDavide Ascanio Visconti Borghese

Vor 2 MonateSome Jerk
Vor 2 MonateQuestioner
@Some Jerk, do you find the Puig screen makes it quieter at highway speeds? Does it hurt fuel consumption? (Range was another huge consideration for choosing this over the Honda - I live far from anywhere else) Those side cases look nice, much more angular than the Kawasaki, though I think mine would also fit three half gallon jugs. Any reason why you chose to swap the rear sprocket instead of the front? How is your minimum off-clutch speed? (Lots of rough dirt roads around here)

10 stars, 5 thumbs up (why not an even number? Who knows? Must've lost a thumb somwhere). Highly informative and entertaining, and I've never even ridden and ADV.

There are layers to this video. First the currency counter machine because they have a sponsor then at the end the god father reference and emptying the bank account for a motorcycle. The video are getting better and better each time.

Sensational review, truly one of the most entertaining and informative I have ever seen on any motorcycle.

Funny how Ducati and Aprilia have managed to jump two steps ahead of the competition in such overcrowded market. Remarkable, considering that both the Desert X and the Tuareg 660 are still a v.1.0. Looking forward to see the evolution of those two machines!
Vor 2 Monatehumzilla707
Uh you're kidding right. 890 will put the smack down on everything in the adv market.
Vor MonatSspirito
@Mihail Kostira Both the Pegaso and the Caponord are more touring oriented, as opposed to the Tuareg 660 which is a fantastic on and offroad ADV machine
Vor 2 MonateHippo-Drones
The Tuareg is a cracking adv bike, love mine, but it is def happier on the mud than on the tarmac (at least that is the case with a tyre swap anyways).
Vor 2 MonateJames
I believe because these Italian manufacturers finally listened to what consumers want. Just look at what Honda and Suzuki provided with their new Transalp and Vstroms, definetly not what consumers were asking for.
Vor 2 MonateMihail Kostira
Eh, Aprilia did make the Pegaso and the Caponord

Tenere 700 has no electronics, maybe that might be an interesting bike for you. I am having Multi1200Enduro (just like your GSA) and I love the electronics and that you can turn everything off if you want. Only thing I don't like is the weight but...160hp helps with that.
