I love knowing about the leaders , the battles , the tactics , the dramas , it’s all so interesting!

Hands down, one of the best history channels out there. This is a truly great unbiased account of the Abassid golden age. No sugar coating, no bullshit undue flattery of one religion or another, just straight up history of a great dynasty.

It is said the books of the House of Wisdom in Baghdad were so numerous, the Mongols used them to construct makeshift bridges for their army to cross.

I last week visited the Bait Al-Hikma, the actual building was unfortunately closed but the newer building next to it is still a translation center, capturing many translators, poets, writers, etc.

What a great documentary once again. Astonishing writing and beautiful creation! I feel like you spent some nice holidays. Thank you so much for your work guys, YTube has been crazy this week. Awesome collaboration by the way. Poor Abul-Abbas, but what an experiment for a very early ninth century Western European audience, cannot imagine.

most history channels, especially western, ignore the history of Arab empires despite the fact it is probably the most influential in our times. Respect for you for shedding light on this part of history, our collective history as humans.

Wonderfully informative, graphic and enjoyable video. One comment: I can't understand why you keep showing the Western Wall in trivial situations which have nothing to do with the Jews or Jerusalem. It is panned several times in the video as something illustrative (in one case when you discuss someone's imprisonment) but it is the holiest place in Judaism so perhaps you could use something else?

It's really astonishing how this period of power corresponds with Empires in India, who used to regularly trade with Baghdad. Back then, riches from the Abbasids like Arabian horses and Persian Rugs were extremely valuable items Nobles in India purchased, and it was traded for Jewels and Spices.
