My first day in my new job at a restaurant I slipped on some grease on the floor and some clever person thought the space on the floor behind where I was stood would be a great place to temporary store the brand new Thermomix. I landed on it and broke it. The head chef had put it on the floor right behind me and not told me. He blamed me and I lost my job. He was fired about two weeks after me for some other dumb lie he had told. I have mixed emotions about Thermomix.

It really depends on where you live and what your lifestyle is. In Switzerland ( where I live) I never eat out because everything is so overpriced. Having a Thermomix lets me eat restaurant level meals everyday.

It saves space, it saves time, and even if you're a chef (I really mean chef, not cooks who call themselves chefs), you can focus on spending time creating new recipes rather than the grunt work (there's a reason why chefs spend most of their time supervising the staff working under him rather than doing all the grunt work themselves). It's also built to last, which Americans don't seem to appreciate since they're used to crap from Walmart and Amazon. Seems like a good value to me, and way better (for the average person) than what Esther Choi spent on her combi-oven.

Well they didn't talk about its APP (Cookidoo) and how it helps you plan your meals by calories and days in a calendar, so if you want to loose weight you don't have to go on a diet you just hate..or its WiFi/Memory card that stores your favorite recipes...it's a cooking robot. Yeah it's pricy but it's also awsome....i think the new model even does sous-vide cooking.

I think 1500usd is pricy but the quality that vorwerk produces is one of a kind. We have the kobolt Hoover for almost 40years and it's still working and one can still buy the bags. My next buy is the tm6

I remember when my mom bought the TM31, wich was the one that gave Thermomix (here we call it Bimby) it's popularity. The TM31 was 1000€ that time. Since then, many brands have come up with their own kitchen robots like Moulinex and some supermarket brands, but nothing beat the Thermomix in terms of quality. Tests' magazines always put the Thermomix as the best. Many years have passed and I don't live with her anymore. About 6 months I thought of buying a Thermomix and, even if Vorwerk already launched two versions after the TM31, I still wanted to get the one that I was confortable with, so I bought a used one for 350€. Besides, the later one (the TM6) costs 1275€. I've never been good or interested at cooking but after I met the Thermomix my desire to produce recipes in it skyrocketed! It's a really easy and helpful tool in every kitchen. Besides, the food you make there is really good, and you reduce your chance to mess things up in the kitchen. Plus you can make a recipe one time after the other and they both come out the same. Is it worth 1275€? When you have other brands' robots at a quarter the price? It's a bit heavy compared to other brands but I guess it's like buying a Ferrari instead of a Renault, so if you can afford, absolutely get the Thermomix.

Vor 4 Monate

@saki ki about the TM5 I don't know, but I guess that it may have had some problems as you say. After all, from the TM31 to the TM5 passed 10 years, and from the TM5 to the TM6 passed 5... The person who sold me the the TM31 has a... TM5 I think, and said they like it but the TM31 was really "the thing". Maybe they launched the TM6 so fast to fix problems the TM5 has. And yes, I'm from Portugal ;)

Vor 3 Monate

There are actually tests saying it's not the best. Most I've seen say it actually. I have a TM5 ( Bimby, here) and had also from another "brand" ( it's a Supermarket one, really cheap in comparison). My thermonix was a gift, I was expecting the "Ferrari" but funny thing is, I've got pretty much the same thing. More like a Peogeot and the other one is the Renault... They have different great things but the TM 5 fails on some things that my cheap one never did 🤷 quite a big dissapointment for 10x the value. I wouldn't be happy if I would've been the one paying... I wouldn't even say the Supermarket one is the best in the market though. I got to experience another brand, which is like -500€ and better. Thermonix sales are MLMs. You aren't paying for the quality, you're paying everyone in the middle and the company. You're also paying every single "gift", magazine or wtv they tell you it's free. It's a company. They're working for profit. It's not a bad machine, I just don't think it's worth the money. By your name I think you're from Portugal. If that's the case, my Yammi 1 bought in the sale where they sold them for 150€ does exactly the same things as my TM5. And when I do salmon with the Steam thing I don't get the Juice spilling into the cup with the Yammi 1 but it happens with the TM5. That's the most annoying thing for me because it ruins everything you're doing under it. The Yammi 1 is designed to keep all the "juice" in the top thing, but separate from the food. And it's just an example of things that the cheaper one does better... So if you asked me, I would rather get another brand from these 2. If I had to choose between only these I'd get the Yammi. It costed 150€ and has really small defects comparing to the TM 5 while at the same time doing a lot of things better or exactly the same way.

What if you just buy this and not buy a lot of other stuff? Now the 1500 bucks are a little more in perspective. All i can say is that in my social circle one girl got this as a gift from her parents and everybody thought they were crazy. Forward 2 years and EVERYBODY ordered one. That's the kind of marketing that makes you spent 1500 bucks.
