@Chinois Achebe Even though Tesla was started by other persons, it wasn't successful until he took over. Then there are the companies that he did start, that have had success and are smart enough to do what NASA could not do and do it cheaper than Russia or established Aerospace companies. He has made solar panels and a way to store the energy from them and other sources. The list is longer, and includes building a school that far surpasses any the American educational system has. Can you do all that? Do you have companies that are worth a trillion dollars and that's the value given by the stock market analysis. If you don't recognize his genius, perhaps you don't even know what the word means let alone who is and who is not. Don't judge what you don't know!

SpaceX is the case of corrupted politicians in the US closing the U.S. space programs and transferring billions of the U.S. taxpayers' dollars intended for building NASA space rockets to a foreign national, Musk, who then claims his private ownership of the space rockets that his employees design and build on the money received from the U.S. government. That's corruption and worse than corruption. And don't start your verbal garbage about NASA not being able to build space rockets. That's administrative problem and it is created intentionally. Corrupted politicians are changing NASA program and cancel previous programs every few years. They do not let NASA to finish any programs and then they blame NASA for that to make brainwashed plebeians think that the national space agency is worthless. Over the last few decades, politicians have been intentionally killing national space programs and transferring taxpayers' money to privately owned corporations to space. Space has been for sale for some time now. It's not for the People anymore. It's for the super-wealthy and their corporations. “I’ll make a prediction right now. The first trillionaire will be made in space.” So said Texas senator Ted Cruz, shortly after a bill was signed to increase NASA’s budget for 2018. To untrained ears, his claim would have sounded extraordinary. It might even have stretched credulity for those familiar with the challenges of space. But on closer inspection, Cruz was not being that revolutionary. Peter Diamandis – founder of the X Prize competition to encourage tech developments – made the same prediction back in 2008 and expanded on the theme in his 2015 book Bold. As for how those trillionaires will make their riches from space, both he and Neil DeGrasse Tyson – the US astrophysicist and TV host – reckon it will be done by mining asteroids. For example, the asteroid 16 Psyche, one of the most massive objects in the main asteroid belt orbiting between Mars and Jupiter, could be made entirely of metal, according to a study published this week. The asteroid's metal is worth an estimated $10,000 quadrillion (that's 15 more zeroes), more than the entire economy of Earth. Translation: there is wealth out there in space. And that's what the super-wealthy are after - wealth, and NOT rescue of humankind.

This man's real value is his own his morality (bear with me)- he preferentially values technological progress & innovation over profability and market dominance. This interview encapsulates all of his projects that he thinks have value because they are pushing the limits of technology OVER profability. Developing an AI (navigational-AI), orbital-industry (spaceX), humanoid labour bot (tesla bot), and a neural-interface(neural link) is NOT profitable in the slightest right now. @Johnny Doe Quick google search will tell you how are fossil fuels subsidized. According EESI $20B go to direct subsidies in the US alone. And according to IMF around $5.6 Trillion go to fossil fuel subsidies. About the first question, it's not about turning the fossil fuels off suddenly. It's about transitioning to more sustainable energy creation and utility modes over a period of time. Faster is better for the environment, pollution control and energy independence of the country. Here's the kicker, fossil fuels are a finite resource, so we will need to transition away from them anyways.

Vor 17 Tage

Vor 18 Tage
Killroy
Killroy

@Peter Horton , I'm just pointing out that "multiple sources of public information" can be misleading when you consider the world we are living in. These articles are misleading because typical subsidies are tax breaks. That does not mean that you get a check from the government. That means you get to keep more of the money that you earned. The articles also will leave out that Tesla has a long way to catch up to the subsidies that Ford, GM and Chrysler have enjoyed for a long time. The articles are typically extrapolations under the most rosy of situations. Musk has maintained since the 2000's that Tesla has never needed subsidies to survive, they just accelerated the growth.   The cities that cut these tax break deals are the winners in the end because of all the growth they have enjoyed. Think of all the Tesla employees and the fact that they have moved to these areas to work. If you look at Elon Musk's career, you will see that his interests have predated the incentives. For example, as a student Musk was developing super capacitors (think EVs) before he dropped out of Stanford.

Vor Monat
P. T.

@Stefano Vergari Thousands of companies are given subsides, tax breaks, etc. to open plants, provide jobs in a local areas, energize regional economies, lead and innovate in a technology deemed beneficial to the country, state, etc. That's been normal American business for the longest time. Concerning the LOAN, the government MADE money on the deal. IT wasn't the bail out ICE manufacturers received which aren't fully repaid. Why does that make Tesla the bad guy? Tell me which industry's companies gets more subsidie$ than the fossil fuel industry? Combined EV and Renewable energy subsidies are barely fraction of that in comparison.

spacex: in retrospect, this makes a lot of sense. it's not really genius, it's logical sense and the refusal to simply accept the status quo. elon: the right way this should go is to simply refuel like every other vehicle everyone else: rockets have never stayed whole after using them so we'll keep building them assuming one-time use There is a certain degree of genius that Elon has, but it also has a lot to do with iron will in shaping the world towards a better path even when the accepted way is strongly inculcated in society's mindset. Steve Jobs was similar in that respect. He would make new products based on more ideal usability and form while everyone else just kept reiterating on what already existed. Initially there was a lot of backlash to touchscreens vs physical buttons. Over a decade later, physical keyboard buttons would be laughed at today.

Does SpaceX go bankrupt now because the Raptor engines are not finished ? Where are the promised for 2020 one million fully autonomous robotaxis ? Where is the 150mph speed in the Las Vegas Loop ? Where is the solar supersonic plane ? Where are the Cybertrucks on the roads commercially available ? Where are the Dragon Capsules on the Moon / Mars claimed there for 2018 ? Where is the "always next year" level 5 autonomous driving ? Where are the Tesla semi-trucks promised for 2019 (a 2017 promise) ? Where are the "it's not that difficult" hyperloops from city to city public transportation promised operational before 2020 ? Why does a 280 billion worth person ask investors or governments to pay for his projects, easy for him to pay the few billions for SpaceX for not going bankrupt instead that others pay the bill ?

I'm ecstatic that someone so famous has so much common sense, how has the rest of the world defaulted on these issues so drastically for so long? It is the strangest thing. It doesn't take a genius to come up with what Elon just said here, yet it is so rare to hear. I guess everyone is pulling their strings to get what they want from the government and people are fine with the cognitive dissonance. @David Heffron Yes, the book shows the tension between the capitalist/builder/creator and the socialist/government/altruism/corruption. The author did escape the rising of communism as saw by herself how things can go south really fast in the name of compassion. The book is one-sided, for sure, it outlines a way of thinking that doesn't get much press lately. It shows how governments will try to control and suppress success and free exchange as it exposes their inabilities to create and produce. The book is a bit long and winding for today’s taste where everything goes fast, but at the same time, once you read it, you will see examples of the problems it outlines everywhere. It’s a good read to see the other side of the argument.

Wow, some beautiful moments here. Thank you for giving me hope Elon. Our military is going to give because it stopped caring about prioritizing being sharp a long time ago. All this "strong" high-energy foolishness. In consequence, our military is harming what it is designed to defend by sucking all the blood out of what it now must treat as a host in order to sustain itself rather than a Nation it loves so much it'll take a bullet for Liberty. This is meant as tough love; I'm eternally proud to be from a USAF family (WWII honour, not the subsequent crimes against humanity that have created so many enemies for naught). Glad Musk is finally applying some deodorant to his pits and abstaining about commenting on BBB. Getting rid of rules and regulations is Musk being crazy, especially since he loves to scare us with bipedal robot brutalist bluffs as if we're cattle to be kettled (herbivores) rather than humans who eventually clap back (omnivores). Though I'm happy to see he's now watering that bluff down, perhaps abandoning it with grace. And I have my crazy moments too, so I'm not pretending I'm better than him. We're all fallible and need each other to recalibrate in order to successfully follow the North Star of Love. Glad Musk admits Tesla is the world's biggest robot company, it was fun when I pierced that veil (with sharpness). And Raspberry Pi is the worlds most humane robot company! After my experience with how the Canadian government botched my venture with a deluded strategy they didn't even ask me about because they're drunk with paternalism, Musk and I see eye to eye on government mental health downward spiral ineffectiveness. I'm glad Musk is into making babies. In that he's saintly. Hopefully he sees why the abuses to indigenous children by the Canadian government and some US States is such an unacceptable crime against humanity that needs its day in court. He's also saintly recognizing we all should die. A person chasing the holy grail of eternal life has a completely different logic system than the rest of us. And lol re: LSD. Speaking of holy grails, we're so close to fusion ignition. Invest in lasers, lasers, lasers. If we get ignition, we can exponentiate electricity output (which stagnated decades ago) and finally have nice things together, sustainably.

One solution Elon never seems to talk about when he discusses the traffic problem: what if people start moving away from big cities? I just do wonder with remote working quickly becoming the norm, how many people will quit the city life to live in a rural area and work remotely from there? Surely it could have a big impact and help remove many bottlenecks on the road networks we see caused by many people commuting from the same city at once. I realise in the last few decades than has been a rapid move towards urbanisation, but I just do wonder if this trend will continue as it becomes unnecessary to live in cities for work reasons.

The 220φ engine accelerates the ions confined in a loop to moderate the relatarvistic speeds, and then varies their velocity to make slight changes to their mass. The 221φ engine then moves ions back and forth to produce ions, thus traveling in a vacuum line, so please use cruise control on the interstate. We could reliably get ~94% efficiency with a closed loop superheated steam system harvesting exhaust heat from a small jet engine and got just below 96% efficiency in some ideal test cases. The main limiting factors were that the discs had to be designed to stretch uniformly without distorting at ~40k RPM and that the gaps between the disks had to be designed for an incredibly specific set of operating parameters (steam temp, pressure, velocity, etc.). It takes a lot of self-reflecting and stepping down to admit that you were wrong about something and to learn from it. A lot of people reach a point where they get too full of themself and don't think about the possibility of growing more. They stagnate. As he describes with the job titles, they usually don't mean anything but they are used to justify opinions. @Eleonor Casiraghi Indeed! Like, if you connect simulation theory of the universe with yoga and meditation, you can get ideas of how hack into the reality. Because universe is too big and cannot be traversed in a single lifetime, they developed and refined these techniques and shrouded them in secrecy. There is still lot of research to be done in this area. But from my extensive research so far, I came to an understanding that spirituality is a form of genetic engineering without any influence of artificial means, but through universal altruism and constructive processes. When we use yoga and meditation, it slowly changes our DNA. It manes us perfect beings. This enables every next generation to be born with better / superior abilities than their parents. More independent, efficient bodies that can perform supernatural tasks eventually. We just don't need any external technology as all we are capable of, already exists within our body. It's a different kind of world, completely alien to our modern material world and way of life of today. But progress in such a world will be Godlike... Way better, cleaner and efficient than Type 1, Type 2, Type 3... etc. civilisations. The only necessity is unity of all humans or individuals of any intelligent species.
