Enough time has passed and I haven't seen any top comments explaining why there were a lot of activities dealing with the number 100. I don't know if it's still done now, but at least when I was was in elementary school or primary school, we used to count the days of school from 1-180 since that's how many days you would attend in a full academic year. The point of it is that the 100th day would be celebrated and the students would be given assignments and little worksheets based around the number 100 to ease off school tension. Schools would handle it differently from some teachers giving out snacks of some kind, like taking ten from a pile to equate to 100 in the end. Fun shit like.
