Story of a plastic bottle - Greenpeace

  • Am Vor 5 Monate

    Greenpeace InternationalGreenpeace International

The video that Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Pepsi don’t want you to see...

Big Brands want you to believe they are taking steps to reduce plastic but they are actually working hand in hand with Big Oil to produce even more.

Their plastic bottles have devastating effects for our health, our planet and our communities. And only 9% of all plastic waste ever made has been actually recycled. But with your help, we can all speak up for real solutions.

Share this video far and wide & sign our petition to end-single plastic and ask the Big Brands to switch to refill & reuse!

You guys need to focus on increasing the ANIMAL HABATAT!!!! We need to push Legislation to increase the size of federally protected land and Sea by 100x. And we need that space protected from hunters, roads, low flying aircraft, fishermen and tourists that litter and create waste. The DEVELOPERS are winning :(. every ocean has a line of houses on it, every lake and every river has houses being built on them. The natural habitats we have need to be protected on both land and sea. No fishing and netting zones need to be established. in 50 years the only way you will be able to see animals are 1. as pets, 2. in a Zoo and 3. In a small fenced off preserve. There will be no Habitat left for our grand children and the ocean will be mostly empty.

I didn't realise until I'd been spammed with this ad for the 50th time that it WASNT an ad for coke. You got the feel down but maybe don't just straight up become an ad for the company you're trying to call out.

Greenpeace wants you to buy their plastic bottles instead of Coca-Cola's? That will surely solve the problem.

I really agree with this sentiment, however this seems a bit reductionist. The prosess of making soda is quite complicated, it's not as simple as refilling a bottle with liquid. I myself have been using an at-home carbonator and mixing carbonated water with soda-syrup for years, but the product is not the same as a bottle I would buy at the store. The main issue is that it does not retain carbonation very long. Now there are obviously ways of doing a refill-system that could work, but it's not quite as simple as this short clip seems to suggest. There is no concrete plan for how a refilling or reusing plan could work in practice on Greenpeace's website. I agree that this is a major issue. But this video does not give me ideas as to how it could be fixed, because it assumes I don't care enough about the inner workings of the problem to see it solved.

Deposit bottles and this at least 50 cents! Or even better in glass. Don't the companies want to? Boycott them then! The world is drowning in plastic and the animals starve to death with their stomachs full of plastic.

Greenpeace! This is a great START to publicizing the problem of plastic single-use containers, that they are nearly indestructible in material terms, and are not recycled (and won't be recycled for 85% of these materials). But—Coca-Cola is out out of millions of producers and/or consumers of such packaging. You should be making videos showing every multinational and their overuse of non-biodegradable materials. We are going to end up with a planet entirely covered in trash, and we'll be eating it as well...since micro-plastics are already present throughout the food chain (and worsening yearly).

@Mari Smet the point is that ads like this are empty platitudes designed to manipulate the consumer into iliciting a positive image for the brand while these souless corlerations continue to wreak havok. These companies are the problem not the solution and this pathetic self serving song and dance about enviromentalism is utterly impotent

@Anita Bonghit --- no no no - you are right, Anita -- when using plastic it is IMPERATIVE that we do NOT throw it out with regular refuse where it can land in our waters, out soil, etc -- we MUST use it and deposit it so it can be safely recycled and NOT do DAMAGE to our environment.

The problem is not the plastic. The problem is the countries who do not recycle the plastic. It really is that simple. Don't blame the material. Blame the governments who allow it to get to the ocean

@John Barber What planet are you on? Planet ga-ga. You are completely and utterly wrong. 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic has been produced since the early 1950s - it is categorically not all in the ocean. Ask Greenpeace! I shall not be replying to you again.

In fact I have really loved all of the animations you have been putting out but not enough people are seeing them, as a person apart of the next generation I think it is imperative that you evolve with the times and spread these important messages. There are so many amazing people on tik tok really to make a change in the world from their screens if only someone will give them a voice. Platforms like tik tok can do this! Look at what we where able to achieve with the trump rally and climate strikes!
