The thing is, we are at a point now where we hardly could use any more gadgets or apps.. I mean what do you want now, which could possibly make day to day life easier? Flying cars? Time traveling? Back then it was more straight forward, running around with your Nokia 3310 and the iPod in your pocket.. It was obvious to combine them, when technology had evolved enough to make it possible. All I'm saying is, Apple were at the right place at the right point in time. It's not like they invented electricity or discovered quantum physics.

Wow, this was 15 years ago. We don't realize it today, but the introduction of the iPhone was such a huge paradigm shift in the computer and telephone industry. Before its introduction, computing was still somewhat a misunderstood and newish field. The iPhone, and later Android phones, presaged so many changes in how we interact with the world. We built on both platforms quickly, and really by 2012ish, a smartphone was nearly an essential part of life. Its truly the last time technology drastically changed our world and how we interact with it. The 1990s-2000s were such an exciting time, and I find myself very nostalgic for those days.

Many creative people got a chance to share their talent with the world thanks to the iPhone and what followed with it. Many lonely people finally could be part of a community, regardless of looks or profit. Many people could share their life and entertain others. Many talented developers could make a living out of creating amazing apps. It’s easy to see the iPhone as starting point for social media and all the negative social media brings. But in reality, the iPhone brought the world much more than it actually stole. You just much think to understand it. The world was a much more boring place before 2007, otherwise we would have never changed. People don’t change something if it’s fun. Nostalgia just tricks you into believing that the past was better.

If someone from the 1960s time traveled to today they would think today's phones, & other technology we have would look futuristic to them. The day when revolution inexorably cropped up .How Steve used to see the world was unprecedented which is beyond the ingenuity of common man .If he was still with us maybe we could see the different definition of metaverse ,VR,AI etc.

Notice how the crowd laughed when Steve mentions using our fingers to control the phone. That's because something like that seemed unthinkable and impossible. Look where we are now.

@M H the touch screen used on the old phones had sensors under the screen so when you touched the screen it was like pressing a button so the screen itself moved in but iPhone came in with a different touch screen and it couldn’t be replicated until later on.

Even though it didn't pick up full steam until the early 2010s, this was the beginning of all the smartphone trend. Can't say I'm too happy with how its all turned out. Technology is TOO omnipresent now. I'd go back to the mid-late 2000s if I could.

I've never owned an iPhone and I probably never will but that phone revolutionized communication. I'm not saying that it has all been for the better but most of us probably watched this video on the screen of a smartphone.

And to this day the hardware and software is perfectly married making it the smoothest system ever and I was a power android user that did custom ROMs and all that but that thought Apple was was just out of my class and turned off by the restricted OS

There were already touch screen phones around before the iPhone that were a lot more capable but required a stylus to work effectively. Apple rode on the back of the iPod's popularity and fandom and more importantly launched a decent app store from the off. Nokia had an app store but it was awful and required a PC. The real game changer was installing apps over the air.
