The transmission in the modern motorcar -- the mechanism that makes it possible to have three forward speeds and a reverse -- is a series of levers, levers that spin.

This is a great video to understand the basics of a transmission. But this is heavily outdated to our modern transmissions which are a whole lot more complicated. I wish there were still educational videos as good as these being made for our own time

I think the current method of short educational science/engineering videos is to cover the most information in the shortest amount of time, to speak really quickly and move on to the next topic without careful elaboration. Series like crash course and minute physics are bad for this, and I always finding myself having to rewatch them over and over to understand what they're saying. Things like this are so perfect though! they really make amazing analogies to make this simple to understand, and they move at a pace that lets the information they tell you sink in before introducing you to new things.

When i took college physics 2 and we went over Maxwell's equations the physics teacher used his 1960 physic book because it was easer to understand with simple examples. Once we went over it, we could understand our modern physics book.. Just saying it's how you explain things that really helps to understand the basics.
