Melvin Manhoef is the scariest explosive fighter. With the highest knockout ratio and a disregard of defence for pure offense, he is a tough opponent for anyone. On his resume is some of the best of all time, and although he did not win every time he gave the fans a big show every time he steps in the ring or octagon.

What do you think of the pure fighter brawler style?

I had the pleasure of working with Melvin (helped him with his grappling) for a bit while I lived in Japan. I would later even spend some time in Holland helping him with his Prep for the Dream Middleweight GP. Melvin was one of the hardest working athletes I've ever seen. He had a true love and passion for what he did. He was always very inspiring to me. Probably the most memorable time I had with him was watching the K1 Max 2009 tournament finals backstage at the event. He would breakdown every fighter strengths and weaknesses. He would talk about what they needed to do to win; Explaining to me the small adjustments from each fighter to get the advantage and pull ahead. He was never wrong on his assessment and the fight would often play out as he had explained. We all know his fight style. Kill or be killed. He knew this and knew what the fans wanted to see. He never disappointed in that regard. However, the man knows kickboxing. I mean, think about it; You had to be damn good to do what he was doing. Always undersized and always a threat to anyone he fought. On top of that, he was a man of honour. Truly. No B.S from him. Training and working with him was one of the highlights of my career for sure. Legend.

Remember guys, Melvin was 5'8 and taking on giants most of the time. Such a warrior! I loved watching the Remy fights, dude just didn't give af about how big Remy was.

Kinda guy that could win 1 v 6 bar room brawl, just bodies dropping every where.

This man was an absolute berserker in his prime, kill or be killed and brought nothing but absolute fury and raw violence in every shot he ever threw. A legend of the game.

I trained at Mike's Gym from 1997 till 2012 and sparred with Melvin quite a bit. I am the same height as him, and I have never seen a short fighter close so well with taller fighters, something that was always a problem for me. He was in his opponent's face before they could blink. But he had amazing control when sparring, I never felt threatened by him even though he could easily take me out.

He was the ultimate glass cannon. Could knock out anyone or be knocked out by anyone. That being said, his war with Cyborg was one of the best MMA fights of all time.

Despite being so explosive he’s had a really long career. He’s 46 and still fighting on Bellator so a high level of MMA. He’s not for off a 30 year professional career!

The speed and sheer amount of power he can produce is incredible. Not something that just anyone could reproduce.

One aspect when he KOed Hunt that was not mentioned is that he didn't even plant his feet on the ground to make Hunt collide with his fully grounded bodyweight behind his fists but that he was walking backwards and had his feet basically mid-air when he dropped Hunt. THIS shows how crazy his power is.

He is a brutal puncher.

Mark Hunt is one of the best knock out artist ever and most difficult to knock out, watched him in K1 years ago and UFC. When I saw footage of Manhoef knocking him out years ago I knew this was the scariest fighter I've ever seen.

He could always work as a jackhammer if not fighting. Without any tools, just punching stuff into the ground.

His power and accuracy negate any need to be defensive, or technical, he has basically ascended to striking demi godhood.

I actually watch his fight in person. It was shocking at how insane explosive he was. He may lost that fight but he left strong impression on me.

Think its worth mentioning his accuracy, stamina, and also combos. Not many fighters can keep up that level of intensity for very long, and be so powerful and precise. His combos also look very well executed and effective.

I really love his "knock me out or get knocked out in the first round"way of fighting,as he said he is a true gladiator always entertaining the audience

90% KO in his career this man is a monster, the explosiveness is intimidating and insane and he is beastly, especially his punches and low kicks. The bad thing about being very explosive is the cardio, you need good cardio.
