Bruh, buying a new charger that comes with so much packaging is much more waste being created because If they included it with the box it wouldn’t be as much waste. They just want your money.

Wow so funny until you realize Apple puts software locks on their new phone batteries and components so you have to go to an Apple store to have your battery changed or your phone fixed or it won’t work. Not only does this increase e-waste but it also highlights how they only removed the chargers because they wanted to cut costs. It also single handedly destroys 3rd party repair and it looks like Samsung is doing the same so that’s just awesome isn’t it? Imagine not having the right to fix what you own, instead you’re forced to buy a new $1,000 phone and contribute to the e-waste, how wonderful.

I'm honestly getting so fucking sick of Samsung. They do this ALL THE TIME. Mock apple for removing something, then remove it themselves almost immediately. Is there a single phone company left that doesn't think "innovation" means "removing essential features for literally no reason"? I want my headphone jack back, I want removable batteries back, I'm so sick of shit getting removed all the time.

Most of the chargers out there are USB to USB-C and lack a c-port. The purchase of a separate charger adds more carbon due to packing, separate delivery, and not necessarily matched to the device (inefficient). Just fooling the customer.

Their logic: By removing the charger from the box, we are helping the environment. We, however, will still be producing chargers and putting them in separate chargers, not only using more resources, but also taking more of your money.

Environment my ass. If Apple really wanted to save the planet, it would've stopped making their tech irreparable. As for samsung, they didn't backtrack or something, they used the fact that novelty scares people, so that people would buy their phones instead of clearly crazy apple's iPhones. And then when the novelty factor wore off, they removed chargers too, again, to make profit off of selling them back to the customers who would've otherwise gotten them for free. That was the plan all along

How can apple talk about the environment and recycling if they make their products impossible to repair resulting in people just buying new devices

When my chinese Oppo Realme 5 Pro comes released in september 2019 (no, it hasnt had a meltdown yet because of age) at 200$, with stuff available in high end phones (such as lot of cams) also comes with such barbaric stuff like, USB A charger (oh my god, the people who made this are evil), headphone jacks (horrendous I know)...

Apple: we are removing chargers and earphones from the box to reduce carbon emissions . Me : hey we have to buy it separately , which means before we could get everything in one box , but now we are getting it in three different boxes , and it also increases the cost of import duties etc .

At least from a tech perspective, it makes sense that you shouldn't need a new wall charger. Before, you'd get wall adapters of lower amperage because your phone probably wouldn't charge any faster if they gave you a better charger, but if your last phone purchase was relatively recent, chances are your wall adapter has the max amperage needed to fast charge, or it's really close to it, so getting another wall charger doesn't make sense unless you lost or damaged your old one. Kinda sucks if they don't discount the cost of the charger from the phone's price tho.

i would love it if companies had the option of just shipping the phone, no charging cable, no wall charger. i have 2 wall chargers and a few cables, i dont really need any more. but it should be an option (maybe like $10 cheaper for the phone only
