Sam Ryder is one of those special singers that does what he wants with his voice. In this live performance he didn't stick to the "studio version" and he surprised us with some good variations. Nice electric guitar in the end by the way. Finished 2nd overall with 466 points, 283 of witch from the juries.

No other songs from this year will be remembered even in a year, but this song and this performance is better than any other in Eurovision history a true star has been born

I don’t like to listen to songs before the finale, bc I never want to be given any biases before the show. I just want to hear the music of the contest. So based on the recent UK entries, I had very low expectations for our entry this year, expecting another low placement at best. So imagine my shock when it turns out that this song is actually AMAZING and we go all the way to 2nd place. Imagine the UK sending an artist that sounds like he could stand on the UK music scene. We genuinely have some amazing artists and they finally send one to ESC. And look what happens as a result.

I will NEVER forget this song, this moment. He's the REAL Eurovision winner and we all know it!

​​​@Vintage Bollinger shhh your starting to sound like those music parasites that spends all their time complaining about "how music was better 60/50/40/30/20 years ago" and how there is a lack of "timbre " now and no one writes their own music anymore blah blah blah. Forgetting that the musical landscape has simply changed. We now have access to gazillions of different types of music and their are absolutely fantastic vocalists and bands all over the shop. Which almost as a direct side effect means we don't really get a "queen" or a Bowie or (dipping stateside) a meatloaf (famously best paired Jim steinman as his writer)*. Because we consume music differently. And if anything the mediocre acts are the ones that pop up on telly and get packaged and shipped. But the odd one of those is pretty damn good 2bh with an amazing vocal performance (what a range!) like that I'm sure Sam just bagged himself loads of fans, I'll definitely check him out more! He might have a few write him off "as that bloke who did euro vision" but I doubt it will be enough to make this a net negative on his career In short, don't be a Debbie downer and enjoy the song and the enthusiasm :) *although we do get plenty of epic stadium fillers like Foo Fighters, Muse I do think it will get harder and harder to be a "massive act" in a sustainable way. But then again I (happily) keep getting proved wrong on that front. Will check out maneskin, I've been out of the festival/stadium loop a while

it’s not very rare in eurovision nowadays. almost all the winning songs/songs that do well in the last 5 years have been written by the artist.

Last year the UK's jury gave us 12 points and this year ours did the same! We are disappointed by our own results but I'm still so happy for Sam and you all! Well deserved guys, much love and congratulations 🇫🇷❣️🇬🇧

I am from Ukraine, I would like to thank everybody who voted for my country, this win means a lot for us. But I personally feel that in a different circumstances Sam should have won. For me this song was the best and deserved to win, Sam’s voice and energy is everything, it melted my heart and I listed to it on repeat . @Gosia In fact, Poland was one of the most top rated performers among citizens of Ukraine. Ukrainians argued a lot with our juries afterwards for not giving a good rate. This issue was also was one of the main topics .

Oh yeah true. But the result was still a just one. Eurovision is about European identity, unity and friendship. Not voting for Ukraine would have represented turning our back on a member of Europe. Voting for the UK would have been great for the UK, but voting for Ukraine benefits all of Europe.

It's not just the song, it's not just his personality - it's this damn incredible performance. The energy, the passion, the joy was all on the stage for us to adore - this man is a national treasure and deserved to win. So glad he's getting the recognition he deserved after years of cover songs.

@Vot Eto Klass Wouldn't be so sure. Mobilization in russia can have unpredictable results. Lviv could hold it, it's not that damaged. The real problem could be the cost of holding it, it seems to be pretty expensive, and Ukraine would need money after we win. If we talking about dreams, mine would be holding Eurovision 2023 on Donbass Arena.
