I'm seeing a lot of potential here since they are clearly going a mental journey route, with Ruby specifically, but all of them too. Even Neo's one shot in this is showing something as well. That anger that's still been there, her looking up at something. I REALLY hope they dont drop the ball with this, especially since theyve had a lot of time to polish it, because this is a great setup.

There's still so much more for Jaune to grow into. The strength it took to do as Penny asked, with barely any hesitation, is incredible. That pain, guilt and self-loathing will haunt him for the rest of his life, but when all is said and done, I expect that he'll be one of the strongest huntsmen of all. And at the end, it'll be Jaune who puts an end to Cinder once and for all.

absolutely LOVE that they're shifting back the focus to the main cast. There's so much going on that often times, the main cast felt like side characters instead. After everything they've been through, a mental journey route is the best course of action. These characters need to be in tip-top shape if they actually want to stand a chance against Salem, or else she'll just manipulate them like little toys in her game of chess. Also hope they take this chance to upgrade or at least unlock another aspect of Ruby's silver eyes. We know from Ruby's mother that simple silver eyes wont work on Salem, so for Ruby to actually stand a chance, her silver eyes need to be special.

I don't think they will beat Salem directly, Silver Eyes or not.

Even if they get in tip-top shape, their chance of defeating Salem is still kinda abysmal especially if she gets all of the relics (which she will). I once made a notion that this series might end with a reset button type thing, I'm still holding to that notion.

This is very Alice in Wonderland and I LOVE IT. There's clearly the Cheshire cat at one point, and a weird nonsensical world that might be made up of the scraps the gods never used, or created through an entirely different method. The departure from the usual story is jarring enough that it might be entirely different than we expect but I'm super curious what actually is happening. There's a shot of her falling in the void like we saw at the RTX teaser with Neo, but Ruby's hand is glowing somewhat similarly to a Maiden's power?

I miss the old banter and jokes that the first two seasons had. Bonding with trauma does weld character development together, but you can't ignore the downtime in between. Not every living second does a hero fight the villain. Would love to see more of the in between moments that aren't always focusing on character trauma or fighting.

My take on the teaser: 1. I think the person talking (which many assume is Summer Rose) is telling the same story that Oscar was telling Ozpin when they were in the whale, The Girl Who Fell Through the World. 2. Given the scenes in the teaser, we can assume Ruby is the “girl who fell” so I’m guessing she won’t be the same when she returns back from this wonderland place? If so, then that would be really sad 😞 3. Weiss crying is probably her telling whoever she’s with about how Penny asked Jaune to end her life in order for Winter to receive the maiden powers (if it’s not Jaune that’s with her). 4. If this really is Summer that’s talking, maybe this is her in the past telling Ruby a story that she’s familiar with? She loves reading books and comics about fairytales so it would be no surprise if she’s familiar with a few stories. 5. I compared a photo of Jaune to the knight on fire and the armor matches so that’s totally Jaune wearing a knight helmet of some sort. Don’t know why he’s on fire though. (Also remembering how team rwby doesn’t know Jaune fell in as well) 6. Besides the weird animals and creatures, it looks like we’re going to see other new characters as well, and maybe more Summer Rose stuff. Also, I’m curious to who is that white knight looking character.

If Jaune dies, he takes Cinder with him. Joan died, but France was saved through her deeds. Cinder killed Pyrrha. Cinder has fought Jaune twice without conclusion. Cinder may want to fight Ruby, but it's clear that Ruby is paired with Salem now. Jaune on his own cannot win against Cinder. He will need a power up. My theory is that he will wield the Destruction relic.

Ruby hasn't been "herself" in a couple of chapters, so I'm hoping she comes out feeling refreshed and happier after this whole ordeal or at least with better mental organization 😅 i hope that's what they mean

I think for Jaune, he'll find out the truth about his lineage. His forefathers would have been monsters, and Jaune will then realize he needs to stop idealizing them and start idealizing himself because he's already so much more than his family bloodline. That's why we got imagery of the armor set that seems to match his heirloom blade and shield surrounded by the fire.

I imagine that the guilt over what Juane has done has turned him into the Knight or the Knight is a representation of his guilt and he needs to find a way to overcome it.

It could also be a take on how he came from a lineage of hero’s in the past. He’s idealized that history so maybe this is his reality check on what it truly means to be a hero for himself.

@Smileyface81 MC His chest plate is Jaune’s. The straps with the buttons and the shape of the lip jutting outward. Pulling up V8 Jaune and this side by side show that this is Jaune or Jaune related somehow.

There were three main thoughts about what this island was after vol 8 that I saw. One was Afterlife, second was Yggdrasil, and third was Wonderland. Based on this teaser, I think our answer is officially Wonderland.

Left hanging from that cliff for so long, I'd given up hope of seeing a continuation. This may not be an answer, per se, but it gives me what I sought. And opens the door, as well. Identity truly is one of the most important things to anyone. "Mirror, tell me something—tell me who that is I see in you?"

Well I hope Ruby actually goes through some character development in this season.

Stinks we have to wait longer than we thought. But I’m still excited for this, and nervous too. Given Ruby’s state of mind in Vol 8, particularly after Ironwood’s ultimatum and everything that happened afterward (especially Penny’s death), Ruby might just give up. That face she had as she closed the chest said that she was done. She’s going to blame herself for everything, Cinder’s words to her “you should never have been born” will echo in her mind to the point where she herself will believe it. She truly is no longer the same optimistic girl that enrolled in Beacon.

My thoughts exactly when I made a drawing of her hand holding Penny’s bow. I didn’t realize she would be holding a blade in the real deal 😢

I'm terrified and excited at the same time. So many questions left and so many answers possible. I'm hoping this show comes to a satisfying conclusion because it is literally my favourite thing and I can't even convey how much time I spend thinking about it. If ever it doesn't stick the landing, I still have my AU to expand on and use as a way to satisfying my own expectations and maybe even other's. I need to start writing it tho but I'd like to know if it would even interest folks first.

I'm assuming the narrator is Summer Rose and that this season will likely show flashbacks to Yang and Ruby's childhood. It's entirely possible that Summer is reading Remnant's version of "Alice in Wonderland" to the younger Yang and Ruby. I don't believe Summer is alive anymore, and even if she was she would definitely not be in this world since it's heavily implied that Salem knows what happened to her and likely had a hand in her fate. I believe this season will focus on Summer and who she was as a person and a mother, but will also focus on Yang and Ruby properly "mourning" their mother after finding out what Salem has been doing with silver-eyed warriors. This season is going to be heartbreaking, I can feel it, and I can't wait.

This rematch isn't going to be easy for Ruby because Cinder is very powerful after she absorbed the power of the maiden, Cinder wants revenge for what Ruby did to her arm & left eye. I believe in team RWBY. I want to know what's Cinder & Salem true goals. My guess they will all work together to defeat Salem. At the end of volume 8 I felt bad for Neopolitan because she was betrayed by Cinder. Cinder is being use by Salem, my guess is she really thinks that Salem will create a new utopia for them. If I was her I will not trust Salem because my guess is she have new plans in mind. When Cinder asked the lamp what Ruby was planning & the lamp showed her everything I don't know why she didn't ask the lamp what is Salem true objective.

Because cinder has no reason to question salem's true motives because from her point of view, salem has basically given her what she wanted which is power

The girl who fell through the world. I'm kinda disappointed Oscar won't be there to experience his favorite fairytale, but not that disappointed! Finally all my favorite characters together and the main character are just chilling somewhere else. I have no doubt this will still go wrong! : -}

I really hope they don’t all find each other in the very first episode. Would be great to see them all exploring different parts of this world for a few episodes to really get a feel for this realm.

Not gonna happen. The main reason it's being delayed again is because they'd rather make the rwby DC comics into a movie first 😆

I'm hoping this is the 2nd to last volume because it would make for a great build up to finales season with this setup of self discovery before actualization.

It's been a short time since I finished RWBY and I already miss it a lot, for sure one of the works I liked the most. Now I only have to hold on for half a year, I really want to keep watching.

when you realize the trailer is focused on Ruby but she and Weiss are the only ones from those who fell who doesn't have blood on their hands I want to see how Jaune is dealing with the shit he *just* had to do

One thing I noticed that is normally hard to see is going frame by frame, something happens behind or to Neo's left arm that is barely visible for the last couple frames of that scene. Edit: it looks like she is using her semblance in the last few frames.

They really need to start wrapping up this series story, I can see going up to volume 12 or 13 hopefully that will be it for them

I hope team rwby gets new magic powers, so they can be strong enough to fight and beat Cinder and Salem in final battle in final volume

Yes Yang is alive thank God it almost feels like she's made out of metal even though there's going to be a lot of character development coming in this season so I hope the volume would be a good one so it doesn't become sucky like volumes 4 5 6 7 and 8 so this better be a awesome one once RWBY find a way out of here Salem will be doomed if she finds out that Cinder is lying I'm feeling a major redemption coming along next year we'll just have to wait and see.

I know it's a stretch, but an immediate guess that came to my mind was if they find Pyrrah in this realm. Who knows what they'll find, but I like the thought.
