Ron staring at the torch BEFORE flipping down the shield on his welding goggles perfectly sums up his character
Vor 2 MonateAlexis Taylor +650
he lowered it as he intensified the flame. Orange and yellow flame not so bad on the eyes but blue green and white are quite bright depending on the torch.
Vor 2 MonateRed Hood inc. +744
I got to be honest bro. As a welder I'm going to let you know right now. Everybody I've seen seems to fire up their torch before dropping there hoods. It doesn't get really bright till you start cutting with it
Vor 2 MonateBig chungus +166
Tell me you know nothing about using a torch lol
Vor 2 MonateBlake +141
Duh, he had to protect the flames from his intense gaze.
Vor 2 MonateKorpse +82
Gotta get the oxygen/acetylene mixture right before you start working. Best way is to look at the flame while you dial it in
Vor 2 MonateWJen8 +18271
I made my first ring using Ron's instructions just to see if it works and it did! Except for the tearing off the sconce part 😂 I just used some scrap metal 💍
Vor 2 MonateAlexis Taylor +412
Yeah but he used a sconce, Due to the color it was either steel, which has too high of a melting point to pour into a mold, not to mention all the slag when poured into a mold like that; or it was pewter, and that is gonna give them one hell of a rash so let's hope they were just placeholder rings.
Vor 2 MonateBach Vandals +81
@Alexis Taylor pewter make you have rashes? Thats weird...
Vor 2 Monateihurricane7 +58
@Bach Vandals i think pewter also tarnished easily too

The very material and practical nature of this comment thread, inspired by a fictional character’s tutorial is…beautiful 🧑🍳🤌💋💍
Vor 2 MonateMagic Teacosie +97
@Alexis Taylor Since he made.. it's either wedding or engagement rings, I think the show was implying that the scones were silver or some kind of silver alloy.

A ring forged in a waffle iron made from a piece of Ann's house is possibly the best possible ring Ron could have made for Leslie!!!

Knowing this show, that was probably intentional. But i never noticed it

It never occurred to me until now that Ron makes the rings in a waffle iron…Leslie’s favorite food ❤
Vor 2 Monatedavid258791 +134
Not just that but he used a part of Ann’s house, which considering what happened to it in the last season probably makes the rings all the more special to Leslie

The sanding down of the repaired wall is the perfect little touch to this sequence 😊
Vor 2 Monatenatma relnam +2
yeah but GL matching the paint.....
Vor 2 Monateiel christo +7
@natma relnam I have full confidence in his abilities 😊
Vor 2 MonateLee Russell +3
He said it took him 20 minutes. Which means he had to have used 5 minute mud. When you use 5 minute mud, you can use your blade to smooth out the mud as it dries. So there is no need to sand. I have finished entire rooms like this. Walls and ceilings. You have to mix your mud in a pan and only in small amounts or else it dries before you can use it all. We always put the sand in the pan, then squeezed a wet sponge over it and mixed it with our blades directly in the pan. Seems like more work but it is actually a lot less than having to sand everything afterwards. You can try 10,15,20 minute muds while you’re gradually learning. You just put the mud on, then just before it’s dry and still pliable, you scrape out the bubbles and leave it smooth. No sanding and no dust.
Vor 2 Monateiel christo +1
@Lee Russell overthinking it dude! 😃
Vor MonatJoe V +668
I was a jewelers apprentice for a few months, and that’s basically it. Most people can YouTube how to be a jeweler in their garage after buying the proper equipment. It takes practice and patient. But yeah, jewelry is ridiculously expensive for what you get.
Vor 2 MonateTheRobustEmpyrean +22
Do you have a real life example? I'm just curious, not being a contrarian.
Vor 2 MonateCostanzo Musso +36
@TheRobustEmpyrean In Italy we tipically use 18k gold for jewelry (more resistant and cheaper) at this very moment it costs around 43.64€/gram. A wedding ring weights around 1-7 grams for a woman and 3-9 grams for a man, let's pick the middle numbers so let's say 4 grams for a woman and 6 grams for a man. This brings you to a material cost of at least 174,56€ for a woman and 261.84€ for a man, that's not considering potential loss of material through manufacturing and the cost of the tools needed to work the metal into a suitable ring so the final price will be obviously higher if you want to do it yourself, let alone if you want to put some stones into them rings but that's a personal choice.
Vor 2 MonateTantalus Complex +56
My spouse and I learned how to make rings out of non-ferrous metals (silver, gold, copper, etc.), in an evening, in ~2.5 hours, for something like $200. This was from an "AirBnb Experience" I paid for when visiting another city. I've been wearing the silver band I made that night since then. I stamped a woodgrain-like pattern into the band with a hammer and basically the flat head of a screwdriver. People are surprised to find out that it wasn't professionally done. It's been months but I can still explain the whole process without double-checking anything. I'm not exceptional. It's just not a complicated process. Though, you can make it more complicated with some optional choices. But it should be said that there is a lot of room for _skill_ which shouldn't be overlooked. If you don't have skills in design, attention to detail, and working with small objects, then keep the ring simple. And if you want to try something complicated, like creating a setting for a gemstone, or some sculpted metalwork, you're going to need quite a bit more practice. But the basic process itself can be learned easily with a good guide, a little practice, and a little care and patience.
Vor 2 Monatepolarknight 537 +4
I've been doing a bit of every kind of art I can. Making jewelry by far has been the easiest when compared to price of the materials and equipment needed I've tried so far. Digital art is the cheapest to get into, just need a tablet computer and a decent app, but it's also freaking hard.
Vor 2 Monatepolarknight 537 +4

Vor 2 MonateMuhammad +233
@The Grillmaster Not about to debate the morality of modern capitalism on YouTube lmao
Vor 2 MonateAverageLeagueHack +254
@Muhammadyou're not I believe he is citing capitalism is about having options which is not the way many would interpret it. The problem with modern capitalism is the government regulation and interference that prevents new competition from getting to the market. The reason giant corporations love regulation is because they can afford the cost of compliance while small business and startups who would be their future competition cannot. This is why a small number of businesses become massively wealthy and everyone blames capitalism when it's actually the interference with capitalism that causes the massive inequities.

I feel like this is how Sauron actually forged the One Ring, and he was actually a pretty private guy until a couple of his constituents showed up at his office to complain about it.
Vor 2 MonateZenix931 +1
Nah, he disguised himself as anitar (probably spelled that wrong) the lord of gifts to the smiths of arregeon(probably spelled that wrong two) he taught them ring lore and spent hundreds of years making lesser rings of power to build their trust in him before making the major rings of power. The seven for the dwarf lords and 9 for mortal men. His idea was to have all of these rings connected to him so when he went off in secret to forge the one ring when he put it on he would instantly have dominion over anyone wearing the other rings of power. And because of the power these rings brought they would likely be in high positions of power. Anyways while he was doing this calibrimbor made 3 rings of his own and when Sauron put on the one ring everyone realized and took the rings off. So he gathered his armies, destroyed the city, and got back all of the rings except those 3. Then he distributed 9 to the kings of men and his plan worked perfectly on them. However the 7 he gave to the dwarf lords just made them more greedy leading to them delving too deep into the earth attracting durins bane and the dragons leading to their decline.
