Rob has been going to bat for KD for YEARS. Defending him even when he himself knew it was hard to. You can tell this hurts him as a fan. This team paid this man the max deal even though they knew he would sit for a year, when the Knicks wouldn't do it and that's the main place he wanted to go, before Kyrie talked him into Brooklyn. He allowed Kyrie to use him as leverage against the team. Like, dude, you left to lead your own team. So lead. Either give up the goat discussion and stop going at every single person who comments about you, or lead. Steph caught heat during their rebuild. It fueled him. LeBron caught heat for going to Miami and knew he had unfinished business in Cleveland, it fueled him. Kobe wanted LA to be his team and caught heat when Shaq left and won a title in Miami. It fueled him. This all comes down to the fact that Durant wants to be able to just hoop and not take on the leadership responsibility of being a 'Bus Driver', but still wants to be in the GOAT discussion. There is no shortcut to getting into that discussion.

However to make these “super teams” and then just leave and in the process leave the team in ruins is really bad! It seems like their are hardly any fans of teams anymore and it reflects on the TV Ratings! It is just sad to see this happening to basketball!

This shows how special and now, how rare it will be to see a team like the Warriors with Steph, Klay, and Draymond staying together for what may be their whole career is. The franchise drafts and ownership does what they have to to keep their guys, who want to stay together too. If they re-sign Looney, they’ll have 11 guys they drafted (Assuming their 1st 2 draftees make the roster) on the team. They should be appreciated more and stop the hate towards them. Gonna be top contenders for the next 4-5 yrs, maybe 10+ if Poole, Kuminga, Moody, Wiseman reach their potential, which 2-4 can be all stars.

Prior to KD and Kyrie, the Nets had a young and upcoming team that was the future and these two guys literally gutted the team and now he bounces? Dude is not that guy, he's a great scorer and that's about it. Put Melo on the Warriors around the same time and Melo gets two rings. KD was built up by Nike in order to sell shoes, he is really not that guy. Out of all the superstars, dude is the only one that has not lead a team to anything but failure, dude just got swept and now he runs, just pathetic.

@Donnie Mitchell Not really sure what you mean. I understand a player can leave if his current team does not match his ambitions but at the time, OKC was trying all they could. Also, no self respecting superstar player will ever join a team that just beat him especially when they were 3- 1 up in the series. He won a championship but still felt empty cos he knows it’s not the same. Any superstar could have join that warrior team and still achieve the same result. Can you imagine Micheal Jordan joining the pistons because he could not overcome them earlier. KD is a superstar but is not a leader. He bails when the situation is tough. He is probably looking for another super team to win another easy championship. He does not like to grind.

@Michael Johnson That's laughable. What person in there right mind would ask to be traded to a sorry team. What does playing with another Allstar have to do with him winning? That happens all the time, it's nothing knew. Lakers had multiple Allstars, Boston, Bucks, Clippers so that's moot point. Didn't the GSW lose with 3 Allstars on the teams to Cleveland. KD had pressure to win the title with GSW. If he hadn't won, you would be blaming him. If you think KD wasn't the best player on that team, you know nothing about basketball.

Vor Monat
Michael Johnson
Michael Johnson

@Toi Toi Kevin Durant may have been the best performer in terms of individual statistics on that Warriors team, but the wasn't the best player on that team. Golden State is built around Stephen Curry's talents, and the Warriors had a much better record without Durant in those three years (27-4) than without Curry (24-23). Durant literally was taking uncontested shots because teams couldn't afford to take a man off Curry or Klay Thompson. Once again, you cited his Finals MVPs and yet he couldn't scratch one win in the playoffs this season with another All-Star level player on his team. The reality is Golden State also won titles with Harrison Barnes (below-average small forward) and Andrew Wiggins (average small forward) playing small forward. Winning titles with Durant at small forward was almost too easy, to where most of their series was lopsided. They only needed Durant to make their winning laughably easy, instead of competitive. There was no pressure on Durant in Golden State. If for some reason he couldn't get it done, he had Curry and even Thompson or Golden State's system to bail him out. In Brooklyn and Oklahoma City, Durant carried the traditional pressure associated with the top player on a more conventional team. -- and we see how that worked out for him. Durant is a franchise player who wants to go to a team that already is a contender without him, wants the role of a highly overqualified secondary player and yet wants the accolades of being "the missing piece." That's why, not coincidentally, Durant wants to go to the two teams that were in the top seeds in the NBA this past season (Miami and Phoenix). He doesn't have to be a leader, he doesn't have to corral the troops, he even doesn't have to face a double team -- he just wants to be a franchise player with role player responsibilities and take uncontested shots, while his jock riders claim he was indispensable.

Charles Barkley was right, Kevin Durant can’t drive the bus, he doesn’t want the responsibility of being the main guy. when he was in Golden State it was the perfect situation, Bcus all he had to do was play basketball. and that’s all he wants to do. he can’t handle being the guy.but on the flip side I can see why he would want to leave , Kyrie Irving is unpredictable. he decides when he wants to go to work , or if he is going to play.but as far as I’m concerned I can’t look at KD the same.he a superstar that doesn’t want the pressure or expectations that comes with being a superstar

Vor Monat
Michael Johnson
Michael Johnson

"but on the flip side I can see why he would want to leave, Kyrie Irving is unpredictable." The problem with this statement is Kevin Durant chose to hook up with Kyrie Irving and let Irving lead him to Brooklyn. So even when it comes to his career decision, Durant didn't want to take ownership of where was going to play after he left Golden State. Moreover, it is not like Irving has never shown this kind of behavior in Cleveland and Boston. There was an eight-year track record of what Irving was like before Durant decided to follow him like a lost puppy. If anything, Durant is the one most teams wanted in free agency, not Irving. Additionally, Brooklyn bent over backward to accommodate Durant and Irving -- giving Durant a max contract knowing he was going to miss his first season in Brooklyn, trading away the personnel that helped the Nets get to the playoffs before they arrived, removing Kenny Atkinson as the head coach, mortgaging its future on James Harden -- so Durant has to take some ownership.

We need to get back to celebrating players like Dirk that were loyal throughout and even though he only won one, it means more. This idea that you're a failure if you don't win led KD to golden state, then led him to Brooklyn to be "the man", now the Nets aren't looking stacked to he wants to go to pheonix who won the most regular season games the last two years? Never thought I'd say this but I hope the owners take the players to the cleaners at the next cba

That KD staying with GS would've guaranteed success. I'm saying that his legacy would've been he couldn't do it as the main guy so he joined a 73-9 team and rode their coattails into the sunset. Do you (Fashion) know how much money business tycoons loose on bad deals? They don’t weasel out of them, they take the Ls because they are contractually obligated to do so. But somebody like you (Fashion) lack the backbone to stand. @Warren France not excusing/nothing to do with him requesting a trade, but yall love speaking half truths today… we all know it was based off injuries (with KD)… The context/basis of Robert Frank’s comment was Kyrie wanting the super max, barely playing + his behavior on both the Celtics & Nets behind the scenes & he didn’t even mention on both teams they were performing better, with better results when he wasn’t on the floor… now we seen where they’ve gone (the Celtics) after time settled from when he left, let’s see if the same about the nets, they finna be in full rebuild mode diff situation than the Celtics tho

Wonder what that 2019 Brooklyn Net team would look like now maybe even got a solid FA signing to help not saying they would have won a Chip, but I think they could be in a Memphis position or how Utah look like something before this year

As Durant was intent on leaving the Warriors, he got a call from Kawhi to team up with him at the Clippers (prior to Kawhi’s call to PG13). Durant should have accepted. Image a Kawhi and Durant duo! Instead, Durant made the colossal mistake of denying Kawhi and accepting to team up with Kyrie. The rest is history. The media is not referencing this potential Kawhi / Durant combo that was denied by Durant.

Maybe a hypothetical, uninjured Kawhi. Had he been healthy, he, Paul George and the Clippers would have given the Warriors a run for their money this year.

I remember he teamed up with a dude that had just as much hate for Lebron like him. He and Kyrie only United out of envy for Lebron. They both weak dudes

All you can do is IMAGINE. Kawhi wouldve gotten injured or some other nonsense occur. You have to DEVELOP talent organically.

Honestly they should have gone to the Knicks and somehow gotten Jimmy Butler there as well. That would have been a great team.

They acting like KD got 5 years left in his prime. My man has a 2 year window if he gets on a legit championship contender. That Nets organization is piss poor. When Harden left that was it. KD knows the ceiling is medocrity with just him and Kyrie. He gave it a shot, and he knows everyone on the Nets had an element of b.s. that limited them.

@Jordan Davis Maybe in the 90s, but in modern day, championships erase snake moves when all is said and done.

@Judy Clarkson comparing a team that won games when Curry was on the bench to a team that slipped from 2nd to 10th without KD is disingenuous. No one on the Nets stepped up like Wiggins and Poole did. Warriors got stronger with Klay's return. Nets got weaker when Harden left. It's not the same. Kyrie showing up for 10 games and fasting for half of them is hardly considered healthy. Nets doesn't have the luxury of having their second star play as inconsistent as Klay did and still win games. These aren't even excuses, the two teams are just constructed differently. Also no one considered Nets the favorites after Harden left. We really gotta stop acting like they didn't have to crawl their way into the playoffs.

Excuses made for him again.. As far as Im concerned Kyrie was healthy in this postseason (glad they've lifted that vaccinated rules so y'all don't have that excuses that he can't play home gms btw). And talking about continuity, there was no continuity whatsoever when that GS trio only played for 11 mins this season going into the postseason. Kyrie & Kd have played much longer time than that I suppose. And why can't they just run it back at least for one more season if the argument is continuity? Kd could just call Kyrie, try to have a go for one more season, but no Kd didn't make any of that move and instead easily giving up for a much easier road to get another ring. Context matters I agree, but Kd gives up too easily when the going gets tough. And this postseason failure is no excuse considering Kyrie played full healthy, and everyone kinda put them as one of the favorites with the Suns and Bucks, and yet they got swept in the first round. So 🤷‍♂️

@Jordan Davis none of what you said disputes anything, but you don't want to acknowledge context, because it makes your argument weak.

@Delon Daniels You tryna create all these hypotheticals when what you should be doing is dealing with the facts. Leave Steph outta this convo... He in a whole different stratosphere compared to KD aligned with the greatest of the greatest. KD gotta focussing ont rying to salvage whatever little of his reputation is left.

KD already lost everyone's respect when he joined a 73-9 team.

For people to act like KD is a victim of Kyrie? Lol, you serious? They are boys. Peas in a pod. Miserable people and teammates. They wanted to run the Nets like they were above the coaches and management. And predictably they failed. KD can't win on his own. Can't build a winning culture. Soft. Egomaniacs who think their shhh don't stink. They deserve each other. It was nice to have two of the most unlikeable (elite talents, no denying that) on the same team. Made it so easy to root against and enjoy the schaudenfreude.
