This is a full-circle moment for me. I remember reading about the original RE4 in Game Informer magazine, and I still own the issue, and now I'm watching coverage of the remake on their YouTube channel. The nostalgia is intense!

@Paul W The Sufferin another horror action game third person was released like 1 year before RE4 . But RE4 did invent a new type of third person , the more zoomed in one , to give less visibility.

@V Steele Kill Switch and Ghost Recon 2 were both third-person shooters before Resident Evil 4. Kill Switch even had cover mechanics before Gears of War. It's not like Resident Evil 4 invented third-person shooters or was the first big game to feature a third-person perspective. It's also not like people were playing really simple games back then, then RE 4 turned everything on its head. It's an influential and important game, but don't act like gaming before it was vapid and meaningless by comparison.

Especially for it's time 2005 they didn't even have games like this out at that time. People were still playing crash bandicoot and call of duty.

This looks absolutely incredible so far, and I love that they’re adding new enemies! I agree that perhaps the rain effect could be toned down just a tad, but that’s my only nitpick so far. Can’t wait to play this game!

@Honey Badger does it matter if someones broke or not gaming is a medium all should enjoy regardless of wether you have a console or not I was gaming on a ps2 in 2010 when everyone was getting a 360 or a ps3 it didn't matter if you had money or not if one person didn't have a console the friend that did would bring it over to play with you and vice versa so what if he has a ps4 or a ps3 gaming should be celebrated by all

I'm surprised not many people are talking about the artistry in some of this footage, I really love how it isn't entirely realistic, the contrast between the smaller and larger details, like the beautifully coloured torches and the bright window against that gorgeous gothic church interior, combined with the rain it looks like an oil painting

The rain is horrid, why would you even suggest that as being a positive?

the rain is awful though, it sort of ruins the atmosphere. it follows the camera too much and is too static with little to no translucency on raindroplets, making it look like its raining milk or coom. if they were to fix that, do the rain like in previous remakes where it looked great, it would add even more beauty.

Re engines "uncanny valley" isn't a creepy one; it's one where hyper realistic textures can shine over artistically unique models. Look at DMC 5, same engine, totally different game. Street fighter 6, same engine. Re7/re8. It's one of the best things Capcom has ever made

@cody  lol ps4 has nothing to do with this it doesn't make sense. Re2R was on ps4 and the rain effect was phenomenal. Same thing with TLOU2. I just think Div 1 Team wasn't working specifically on the rain effects and it ended up like that maybe M 2 is responsible lmao

@Erik Nilsson literally every game does this tho. i think it looks wrong because the ambient color is too bright and the streak length is too short for it to look convincing.

The rain looks like GTA Trilogy's at Launch thank God Rockstar fixed the rain but still it's a bad move for Capcom after how that game got remastered and yes Ik this a Remake but still

Man it's nuts how I remember the original RE4 and the lead up to it's changes and eventually it's released version. Seeing this remake is kind of surreal because while the original stepped away from survival horror to truly innovate, this one comes around and doubles down on the horror aspect more than the original from what I've seen. This looks not just tense but genuinely scary. Can't wait to see U-3 in this!

Ahh what a time to be a resident evil fan. It seems that capcom is finally going to reveal somethings about the game after 3 months of silence, I can’t wait to see what they will show in the upcoming weeks. I haven’t been excited for a game in a long time, i love capcom when they knows what they’re doing. Also! Can be appreciate how great the REengine looks? I mean it looked great before but it seems that it has improved a lot the last few years, this looks perfect.

@Pdid there is a lot of things to be excited about, they did a lot of changes, new enemies, new twists in the plot and the whole atmosphere of the game has changed so yeah i'm pretty excited to see more.

It looks good but exactly what's there to be excited about lol? At least if you've played it before. Most of the notable changes in the remakes for two and three were cut content.

I like how Leon told Ashley to follow her while still busy looking for a save spot. That's amazing it will be so intense just like the original but more seamless experience and realistic.

This game is such a love letter to itself. So many scrapped concept designs for enemies and characters are finally seeing the light, can't wait!

@standing in the rain yeah the rain isn’t looking great, the rain effects from RE2r was great, in some screen shots it looks nice, but lightning make it’s brighter or white color 😂 and ye the game informer said that it’s very close to the original game, no QTE’s and newer enemies… everything looks so good !

Coming back? These games have already existed lol. Capcom has been releasing resident evils on a fairly regular basis. Callisto protocol sucked ass so we can't really use that as an example.

This was THE game. OG RE1 and 2 were great horror games, but they weren't "fun". This is one of a handful of games that I played over and over again growing up, it never got old.

I’ve been a huge Resident Evil fan since the very beginning. I’m super excited about this because I didn’t like the original RE4, but this is looking like it will solve a lot of the issues I had with it. And if it’s handled even half as well as the RE2 remake was, that gives me high hopes, because it was fantastic.

@Sam Spade I like 2, 3 and the REMake more than OG 4, just because I like the survival horror tone of those games more than the action horror of 4. But it looks like the remake is focusing more on survival horror, so I'm excited to see it.

@Kolby K RE3 Nemesis from 1999 is better than RE4 in my opinion. I still love RE4 though. Resident Evil has so many great games, and a few bad ones.

I'm both happy and sad at the same time. Happy because RE4REMAKE looks stunningly good so far, the graphics are better than ever, but the most important is that it really seems that it stays true to the original product much more than the previous remakes. Hopefully it won't disappoint us. I'm sad because of the RE4REMAKE I can't help but wonder what RE3REMAKE could have been if Capcom would have been working on it just as diligent like on this current remake. RE3REMAKE had a huge potential, I never expected it to turn out as a bad game as the original is loved by many. But it did, mostly because that it didn't stay loyal to the original product, and the fact that it was rushed, it's creation time was only 1 year if I recall well, unlike any other remakes which has years of work in them. I know I might sound like an old disc. But please, Capcom needs to return RE3REMAKE for example make a B scenario that stays loyal to the original product, brings back all the cut bosses, areas so on. I know Capcom said it's a finished product, but one can only dream.

I agree that it's a shame that the RE3 remake didn’t get the same treatment, but you're wrong about the development time. It was developed in roughly three years. It was confirmed by one of the people who worked on the game.

Only problem is when I try to sign in with my digital subscription it's an absolute nightmare and won't let me because somehow the password was changed and it won't let me reset it again 😡😭🤬 Such a pain in the ass but I still love GI!!!

I love the Resident Evil artstyle, Resident Evil was never went for the realistic approach instead Capcom made them to look closer to their CGI films, I hope they keep this kind of artstyle for their future games instead of going fully realistic like TLoU or Silent Hill.

I'm fine if it's not _fully_ realistic, but I do like a good amount of realism mixed in. I appreciate that Capcom is taking that approach.

I’ve been playing Resident Evil since 96’ 1-4 was the pinnacle of resident evil games in the late 90’s/early 2000’s….huge nostalgia overload…this is a day 1 purchase for me on PS5…dualsense features will be dope af as well…notice the new RE4 save theme music while playing in the background of the video 😮‍💨😮‍💨🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 can’t wait to hear the merchant theme music as well..we definitely need a RE1-RE3 classics collection on platforms

Am kinda disappointed on how RE3 remake was made. I know it wasn’t made by RE2 remake developer but the game felt kinda rushed and many contents were cut from the original to keep it short. Now, since re4 is being made from the same guys from re2 remake I hope 4 will be just as great as 2 remake or even better. 😌

I bet Resident Evil 4 will still be a phenomenon. It also seems that it's going to be even grittier and darker than the original, which is perfetc!! When it came out in 2005, you could feel is was GOTY from the get go and it came at the start of January. The stress in this game comes from the pressure and aggressivity of the enemies. This is going to be epic and the campaign should take about 20 hours on the first playthrough, maybe more. With the Dead Space remake out, this will be the icing on the cake for survival horror fans.

A lot of modern Games have introduced a Hold Button down option for QTE and I hope we see it in this as well. Hate spamming a button repeatedly but holding it down for like 2-3 seconds aint a big deal :)

True, but if you think about it, Capcom has to either cancel rain and have Ganados use torches or keep the rain but remove torches from ganados. In both cases, the area will lose its charm.

The one thing I want to see or rather hear, is the sound design. Sound design was amazing in the original, from picking up items to gameplay with the enemies So far on the official trailers, I’m a bit worried. Gameplay looks amazing Everything is, just not so much in the sound design .

I'm very excited for the sound design as well. It's great for building tension. Village had a fantastic sound design.

This definitely looks like an upgraded version of the original, I must say. As someone who's been religiously playing this game my entire life, it definitely looks as though it is not going to let me, or other OGs, down.

Totally agree man this one has to surpass all the RE Engine games we've had so far RE4 is Capcom's greatest game and they know it's their crown jewel that's why I've been so puzzled with the marketing so far. Apparently they put out a financial Rd report a couple days ago that said they've sold 29.11 million games this fiscal year and they are expecting to hit 40 million by the time it ends which is the end of March lines up perfectly with the release date of RE4R so they're and we the fans are hoping for big things especially with Dead Space just killing it recently!!!

From the magazine -Several new enemies, -Added side quests, -No QTEs, -Can carry multiple knives, -New crossbow weapon, -Laser sight is an upgrade, -Yellow herbs are in, -Play Ground executions can prevent the formation of plagas, -R3 used to command Ashley (she can follow close or retreat, but won't stay in one place). During this time, there are no dumpsters for Ashley to hide in Ashley doesn't have a health bar, but if she's too damaged she needs to be revived. She will die if attacked again while in this state, -New enemy wielding a hammer and wearing a bull mask, -Side quests consist of fetch quests, puzzles, and more, -Briefcases can have perks such as the increase in ammunition waste, -enemies can barricade openings , -According to the magazine, they were able to play for a few hours, and this remake is much more faithful to the original compared to RE2 or RE3, as some scenes are 1:1 recreations
