I think my favourite part of Iron Valiant is that it isn't a fusion of Gardevoir and Gallade. It's a fusion of MEGA Gardevoir and MEGA Gallade, just as Roaring Moon is Mega Salamence.

And no one can tell me that it’s fighting animation where it takes off it’s two blades and wields them like a dual-sided staff Darth Maul style isn’t the best thing Pokemon has ever made.

I think what makes Iron Valiant so much more interesting than the other Iron Paradoxes is that it does something wildly different from the other mons: takes TWO mons’ Mega Forms, and combines them cybernetically. It’s just cooler that way, there is no word in that sentence that isn’t cool.

Well im not sure but the only other line that could do the same is the charmander line right ? Maybe Mewtwo but it is a legendary and if we look at the X and Y form they could be on different ends with Mewtwo in the middle.

@@asimovvomisa4040 I think It's more due to the fact that Gardevoir and Gallade are two separate evolutions. From ralts Line so fusing their megas make sense. Charmanders line however doesn't have any separated evolution lines. So fusing It's megas wouldn't work It's still Charizard.

Tinkaton is my ideal pokemon. It’s small, cute, and has a face that suggests that it can’t count how many fingers it has. However, what really sells it for me is that it actually has the strength and necessary know-how to make a massive hammer with its bare hands, and that it uses said hammer to cause problems. I also find it hilarious that its preferred prey item is this big majestic bird and that it hunts them to the extent that they changed the whole taxi system. Love this mischievous little goblin. 10/10.

It's actually rather funny how he talks about Pikachu gaining other types if he was dripped out, because that's literally what happens in Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire

honestly the main thing I like about sandy shocks is that the tera hat on it spins around because the part it's attached to is spinning, which is just absolutely comical

What I like about it is that the sand on it is based off of irl magnetic sand, showing that this pokemon was always going to be magnetic, even if devoid of steel.

I enjoyed watching Quaquaval slowly but steadily rise in rank from beginning to end. He’s a great mon who really does grow on you.

Tinkaton easily catapulted into the top levels of my favorite pokemon of all time. She's just a happy, little murder goblin and I love her for it.

Iron Valiant was single handily the reason I got into Gen 9 competitive. I nicknamed mine "Ladiesknight"

My Clodsire carried me through my Scarlet AND my Violet playthrough. Absolutely love you, Bubble. Peak mon in my heart

the problem i had in this game is that theres so many really cool pokemon. not only did so many of my all time favourites return for me to pick up but theres so many new ones i absolutely love. it made only 6 slots in my team feel so restricting when theres like 25 pokemon i want to use

Honestly, fuecoco is too good to describe with words. The ranking for him needs nothing. All you need to do is look at him, and you’ll see it goes in PEAK.

This gen actually had a lot of bangers. Not just cool looking mons, but also really funny ones like Maushold and Dudunsparce.

Yeah, say what you want about S/V as a game, but the designs this gen were just so consistently good. Got some misses here and there ofc, but I genuinely had so much trouble choosing my casual play through team because I loved just so many of them

Don't forget Flamigo. Huge respect for anyone who just removes a single letter from an existing animal and takes the rest of the day off

You know, for as broken of a mess S&V can be sometimes, can we all agree that the Pokemon design and concept for this generation have been really good, the best one since so long.

i actually hated most of this dex and none of it has grown on me 😭i think some of it lies in the fact that i think the overworld sprites look devoid of all life and have glass eyes lmao, my fav gen in somewhat recent times is alola

honestly i'd disagree. like, i feel like it's really hit or miss with this generation. a lot of them are really endearing and grow on you, but a good chunk of them just are eh at best. like, i personally feel like a lot of the new pokemon are just lazy and less interesting. hell, a bunch of them actually look worse after evolving from the baby stages. stuff like dudunsparse and flamigo i can get behind because it's funny, but some like bramblin and pawmot are just boring because they dont really hit the same way.

Funfact: Baxcalibur is based on a real life dinosaur that really has just one Spine thingy on its back. The Concavenator. Also maybe a Spinosaurus.

What you didn’t realize with baxcalibur is that he looks like druddigon and tyranitar fused into one Pokémon. It looks so cool, and you cannot change my opinion.

3:34 I completely agree with Alpharad. Dudunsparce is my all-time favorite Pokémon, and it's nice to know that someone has a good understanding for this masterpiece of a Pokémon. Rabsca and Tatsugiri are my other two favorite Pokémon. I absolutely love Alpharad's perspective on Rabsca. 🤣 As for Tatsugiri, his perspective on it is great as well. So glad you changed your ranking on Lokix at the end, it’s honestly one of my favorites of this gen and the fact that the regional bug is an actual god killer in competitive is just insane.

I think the reason the scarlet paradox pokemon are more interesting than the violet ones really is that the violet ones are just "pokemon but made of metal and screens" with the exception of iron valiant while the scarlet ones are the pokemon redesigned in a way to make them look more prehistoric.

Funny story, when I first got violet I chose Sprigatito and decided to name it Masquerade on a whim. I didn't know that it would evolve into Meowscarada, I just chose that name. The reason why I chose that name was because I was playing Branded in yugioh, around the time the game was released, and Masquerade the blazing dragon is pretty good. AKA, Masquerade the tax dragon.

I did the same but with Aleister. I was very close to calling him Aluber though.

I named him Felix because it was the perfect pokemon to name after my favorite character lmao

When you were "talking" about Fuecoco's line I was scared that my AirPods had broke or something, but it was your video. For what I get about the Paradox Pokémon, they can give the idea that they indeed come from the Ancient and Distant Future, but apparently they are strange mutations if they already existed before the professors' time machine or something rare. Koraidon still is the best box legendary of the generation.

I gotta say Sandy Shock was a bit awkward and underwhelming to me, until I decided to give it a try for raids. I can NOT stop smiling whenever mine goes Ground tera, because the "hat" spins. This is much more entertaining than it should and I love it.

I have my gripes with scarlet and violet but they absolutely nailed the pokemon. Nothing but bangers from this gen.

I found out in this video that glimora isn't just a single stage Mon and that's crazy to me

I caught the first Girafarig I could find, because I was intrigued, and I accidentally caught the biggest one possible. I roll up to every fight and Farigiraf was so broken that she didn’t fit on screen.

On the subject of Revroom changing types, and the weirdness of Ghost types on general, I've developed a theory. Pokemon are basically Pokerus fully integrated into an organism or object. They have Types because they reflect exactly what their body is made of. And Ghost types are a colony that is JUST integrated enough to be cohesive (and thus act as a species) but are in some way disconnected. Literally all of them are Ghastly is what I'm saying. It's also why Rotom loses its Ghost type when it bonds to an object. It's partial integration is now full integration, using the Electric type as a catalyst. How does that apply to the engine pokemon? Easy. You have a Pokémon which formed around an Engine (probably a Grimer pulled a Mitochondria and it stuck) and using the residual Poison body as a glue you bond it into a different material'd body, changing its type in the process. It's funny. The use of Rotom as a COS and these guys as a literal engine for vehicles are what gave me that idea.

Flamigo is in my top 5 of not only Gen 9 but probably all designs since Gen 6.

If Cetoddle and Cetitan are your enemy, then so am I. But for real, they're my favorite new Pokemon in about...five generations, I think. I just love the big doof energy

The Tinky line became my main throughout both Scarlet and Violet.

The Legendary/Ruin Quartet, or whatever you want to call them, are so well-designed that they feel wasted on Scarlet and Violet. Especially since SV are based on Spain and they're Chinese.

Technically they are based on Chinese trade routes across Europe so it kind of fits (plus they have a good place on the lore) so I wouldn’t exactly call it a bad mix but the names really don’t fit

I also guess for another thing is that Meowscarada joins the ranks of the group/faction of Starter Pokemon that despite the gender ratio, their design plus theme-origin heavily implies them to being Female Pokemon; just like they did with Delphox and Primarina, as Meowscarda's pokemon category & design seem to imply that she is based off of Masked Female Stageshow Magicians. (And I guess the same thing applies toward Quaquaval too as I think people assume Quaquaval possibly leaning towards being Female because Quauquaval's humanoid design theme appearance, overworld movement animations, pokemon category (even its name in both english & japanese), and even its species origin is based on Female Carnival Dancers; in which they're not wrong as the view of it being female makes sense if you know the culture & look at Quaquaval for it

The moment I saw Iron Valiant I knew I needed one, and by one I mean I shiny hunted six of them

Veluza is underrated. Wish the "filleted" form was shown more in battle instead of just tied to animations... Heck, even a form change would be great because iirc the only other Paldea Pokémon with a form change is Palafin. Veluza's Fillet Away move should be buffed, imo. The base speed is way too low for it to be usable in high tier competitive usage. And most people see it as a nuisance because of how fast it is in the water— it uses Fillet Away before charging, and it can't turn very well.

Damn, this just highlights how freaking good the music is in this gen.

I 98% agree with your list. The only difference is cetitan line is s tier to me. The shiny being Grey n orange is even better. Just derpy giant mouth monster. Reminds me of the walking form of the Gravoid from tremors

The fact that pretty much my whole team for my playthrough is in Peak, Jacob and I definitely are vibing the same for this gen xD

I feel like the issue with Future Pokemon is that to balance, they changed the shape language of past Pokemon, and made future Pokemon look shiny and like cyborgs (which we have always wanted with Tyranitar and Mewtwo), and thought it’d be equal. I feel like they should have just made the future Pokemon morphed with clichés of the future theme. Iron Tred: Single Wheel bike, like Tron or Halo. Iron Moth: make it a literal solar panel or solar satellite that shoots 6 lasers from it’s wings. Iron Jug is just a retexture, Hydragon was originally meant to be a tank, make Iron Jugs a ground dragon or make it a hover tank. Each neck can be the barrels with the heads for the cannons! Tyranitar’s basically mecha Godzilla, which is ok to make that one just a retexture, but I’m curious what everyone else has to say about the future Pokemon compared to the past Pokemon

I'm happy that Meowscarada and Quaxuaval made the cut

For some reason it never occurred to me that the box legendary would have paradox names.

Downside: they made another anthro furrybait starter with Meowscarada. Upside: Its actually aesthetically pleasing to look at. For me Meowscarada was the opposite of Incineroar. With Incineroar, the more I looked at it, the weirder it got. I started to notice its weird tube arms and yaoi hands sprouting out of its weird dorito shaped body. Meanwhile Meowscarada stared out making me feel a bit uncomfortable due to the whole furry thing, but looking past that, its a clean design, and the little flourishes it does when performing and attacking give it a lot of personality. My favorite of the three is still Quaquaval though. The rythmic dancing, the confident pose, the flourish of the tail feathers, its got everything. All three were pretty great this generation. Certainly a step up from Gen 8.

A very solid ranking. I'd say I agreed with probably about 90% of it. It's always great to hear Alpharad's opinions on this stuff as well; he always makes it funny.
