I'm not sure how being respectful of others is against any religion. Nobody's asking you to participate, just call people by what they prefer to be called. If you disapprove of someone's name, do you also refuse to use it and just say, "Hey, you!"?

I'm just confused as to how it is you're supposed to automatically KNOW what pronouns any given person uses? Having worked for huge corporations with hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide (and even some smaller ones with a couple thousand employees across a few cities), most of whom I never laid eyes on, I have no idea how I would even know a person's pronouns to begin with. In addition, I worked with the public - how in the world would I ever know THEIR pronouns? It's ridiculous. And then there are the people who like to change their pronouns every day or even a few times a day, depending on how they feel. It's an impossible task. I assume they expect every interaction to begin with, "What pronouns would you like me to use as we talk today?" What a colossal waste of everyone's time. And, of course, you run the risk, in customer service jobs, of offending your customer base even just by asking that...
