Generally I love how commentators show possible moves on board yet its sometimes hard to follow what the actual board, position is (not only in this stream but generally). Would be fantastic if live current board color and a second, theoretical board with different color would be used, for example if live is purple and theoretical green the viewers would always know whenever joining in if they see the live current status or not.

Im pretty sure the collors of the board are lighter when the commentators show the possible moves. Its subtle, but if you know about it, you can tell it apart from the actual board. ( at 9:38 for example, its clearly lighter than usual, and at 9:54 the switch between the previous moves beeing shown, and the board reaching the current state, its pretty obvious.)

I could be wrong but I think Hikaru is just trying to bolster resolve by saying Wilson is not as strong. He certainly is. He is adjusting his play and does not want to blow everyone out of the water for numerous reasons. But only Wilson really knows.
