Asy was already good with accuracy, defense, footwork, deception and endurance. Now she gets tremendous improvement on the attack, she gonna be strong contender for Paris 2024

Analysis: ASY was not a player I follow too much but after seeing her great results, I decided to try to analyze her strengths & style b/c at first, I found it quite difficult to discern to the eyes and I found myself asking, "why is she good?". From what I see, ASY's greatest strengths lies in her defense, efficient footwork, and most surprisingly enough, her deception. She plays similar to a few male players imo --- she has great retrieval/defense skills like Momota and this will put pressure/annoy her opponents as not many of their attacks would get through. Footwork wise, it takes her less steps to cover all areas of the court like LCW -- so combine this with great defense, then you get great efficiency/less energy usage as a result. Lastly, she's a player that incorporates a lot of deception into her game, but unlike TTY, whose style you could really analyze after watching a lot of her plays, ASY is much more difficult to read because her deception is BUILT into her stroke. At the very last second, she would slice a shot or a variety of other things. Her drops/clears, etc, all stem from the same stroke style -- as in, it's very difficult to read what shot she's going to do until she actually does it. I gotta watch more games of hers to really see if I could catch anything else but I hope it's been helpful to anyone who reads! ^^ The only thing I could see her improving upon (and again, haven't seen many games of hers to truly evaluate yet) but it seems her consistency in accuracy could be improved. She gave away a lot of free points to CYF in the 1st game due to unforced errors. If she can up her consistency, I could see her being #1 in WS for many years to come.

This was such an interesting read! I know her style of play can look very plain to some people that they question how she could achieve so much at this stage compared to other lower ranked WS who have more skills and interesting play but still can't win top players like she does. I do think her skills need to be more polished, from what I've seen so far she's definitely a hard worker and naturally talented (which, let's be honest, totally helped). I watched a video of young ASY play and even 12 year old ASY only needed very few steps to cover the whole court back then 🥲

@@atalantaj3890 Thank you! :) Sometimes I get fortunate and are able to see some tactics and playstyle so I write them out as I do rmb reading some in the past and finding them really helpful. It also makes the game way more interesting to watch when you're able to see the strengths/weakness of a player.

Hey thanks for the analysis, very insightful! What you wrote about ASY’s deception being built into her strokes - can you explain further? I thought the same could be said for several other players like TTY, Intanon, Chen Yufei, etc. they do have the same preparation for their overhead strokes for example.

This was the aggressive ASY when she first debuted in senior stage. For the past year or so, she didn’t attack as much, perhaps due to trying to train herself to be able to control shots and defend. Now, hopefully she will start back her attacking style.

Women's Singles is very competitive right now. 2 Weeks Ago, TTY beat CYF in the finals. Last Week RI beath CYF in the finals. And today, ASY beat CYF in the finals. I have to feel for CYF. 3 finals in 3 weeks with no wins. Great for the discipline, I guess, depending on who you root for. A couple of years ago, the world figured out TTY, and she is nowhere near as dominant as she used to be. Perhaps the world has figured out CYF?

Good play and aggression from ASY,. However the ending is very disrespectful from her part, no shaking hands with opponent, just thanking coach.. Coach should be ashamed to let themselves be thanked first instead of opponent.

I think ASY has greeted her opponent in the end, but the live just skipped that because of some network issues the issue keeps happened throughout the Malaysia Masters...poor network

It was obviously network error, that skipped the handshaking part. Lol..it was obvious. However, I don’t like players not immediately thank their opponent first when she was so near to her when she won the final point.
