I really hope this show does well. There aren’t many long term series on Disney plus these days but this series looks to be promising.

As much as I'd love that, the changes they're making will make it harder to do the second series. Like Percy being blonde. Jason's whole deal is kinda being the opposite of Percy and "the Golden Boy". Especially since the entire premise of the series was "book accuracy"

There's something about the color scheme, the song and the overall vibe of the show that's familiar and in turn, comforting. I read Percy Jackson when I was younger and it's so nice to be able to experience that childhood comfort of the books again through this series. I'm so excited for it to come out!

I remember reading the books in 2012 at the library and it made the school years less lonely. I literally can't remember details of the plot now but the feeling of having read the first and second series will always be one of my best memories. Hope the show gains the immense success it deserves, as well as being an adaptation that does the stories justice.

Maybe 5 years ago I could recount the first 5 books and The Heroes of Olympus word for word like I read them yesterday but it's been awhile and a lot of things have happened in my life since then and now they've finally brought it back to live action and I'm just hoping it will all come back to me as I watch the show and see all the set pieces I used to only be able to imagine

The characters being the right ages make this story 100000% better. As a kid I connected to them being my age on wild, brave adventures and it inspired me. Now I watch as an adult and I'm like holy shit they're so small and that monster is giant. It reminds me of Stranger Things and how putting the kids right in the action makes the stakes of the story way better.

I don’t think their age matters much (as long as their young and not above high school age) the only thing that matters is 4 year prophecy

I think the actors are older than the characters in the book by a couple years, and by the end of the run of the show they will be way older probably. Still closer in age than the movie series though.

A LOT of this looks like how i imagined when reading the books - like Camp Half-Blood, golden sunshine, the crescent of huts, the armour and wooden objects everywhere. I love how they want to keep to the spirit of the books! If they can achieve that on film, they will have caught lightning in a bottle, if you'll pardon the pun, because it really resonates!

@@brantmcmillan1716 rick never said annabeth is black now he just casted an actress who was best for the role. you are forgetting its a BOOK ADAPTATION not all things from book will work on screen whether movie, tv, live action, animation things might get cut, replaced or done differently. going off of all the trailers its seems pretty accurate but its still able to be its own thing because its just adapting from the books its not gonna be word for word. unlike the movies the changes wont effect the story like changing their age, the whole plot and character's personalities. it still 12 year old loyal percy and wise annabeth, not 16 year old douche bag peter and clarrise wannabe annabelle also sweet 12 year old looking grover and not 20 smthing sex crazed gravy. i saw the sneak peeks and can confirm they are still the characters they even have them say theyre book lines like Annabeth saying "not bad hero" from the capture the flag scene.

@@brantmcmillan1716 Rick didn't like the movies and had very little influence how they adapted his story. He actually had a voice in the creation of this show. Annabeth not being blonde in the movie was bad because she no longer had the "blondes are dumb" stereotype looming over her. But with her being black in the show, they can use the "non-whites aren't as smart as whites" type of racism in order to make her feel like she constantly has to prove herself. Rick cares about his stories and how they are adapted, with him having a bigger role in the show's production, I have confidence that the show will hold up for the most part too our expectations.

The fact that this 1 1/2 min trailer looks far more accurate than both movies put together gives me hope that this series can knock it out of the park. I'm only getting around to reading these books now as an adult (and as someone who wants to write middle grade fantasy novels herself) and I'm absolutely loving them. Rick is such a talented writer and it looks like his involvement with the show is going to pay off. Really excited to see this

@@Chris-qc2kd Since Rick himself approved the casting, I'm more concerned with story/plot accuracy considering the movies just made up things that weren't in the books at all. It'd be one thing if those changes had been justified but almost none of them were, and that resulted in two bland, forgettable adaptations that aren't even entertaining enough to laugh at for the wrong reasons. Even when they made Annabeth blonde in #2 it didn't fix anything because the story was a mess. I recognized almost every scene in this trailer including the ones that were omitted from the first film for no reason (Ares on the bike, Percy falling into the river, the amusement park sequence), so that's a good indication that they actually paid attention to the book plots this time. If I have to pick between characters looking book accurate and storytelling being book accurate, I pick the latter. Otherwise it's just a repeat of the movies

I really love that the characters seem to have been cast to reflect their book-accurate age. If this show is done well, the kids will grow into their characters, similarly to how the Harry Potter kids grew into their characters.

And now wb discovery will reboot the Harry Potter franchise as a series. I loved the movies but they did took out several important elements from the books.

I'm actually really excited for this, because it looks a whole lot more faithful to the books (unlike the movies). It also should benefit from being a tv series, that way they can make 1 or 2 chapters each episode.

Reading all these books as a kid made me love everythin that makes Greek Mythology different

I know. I suddenly went back to the first time I read the book. Seems they have done a great job. I am not racist but I wish they didn't make annabeth black. Annabeth was not supposed to be black.😅 I always imagined her as a tanned white nerdy girl with grey eyes. I hope she at least calls Percy sea weed brain 😂 Even Percy and Grover are not cast right. But I guess it will still be better than the movies because of better writing and direction.

@@brantmcmillan1716 of course he knows what the original characters look like, but that obviously isn’t the most important part of the story. If you only read these books because of the hair and skin color of the characters then maybe you need to do a little self reflection

@@brantmcmillan1716 why would the skin and hair color change anything about the escapism effect though? Also Rick knows what his characters look like, he has clearly stated that many times. And he really cares about the source material, with the difference that you and him have clearly different understandings of how a good adaptation should look like. Btw a little reminder that nobody is forcing you to watch the show :)

The inaccurate casting of half the cast of this "Accurate" retelling adds way more question than answers. Parentage? Why the Greek Gods arent Greek? If Riordan, doesnt know that the greek gods are greek, i question his competence and why you still have faith that he'll be able to make this "Accurate" telling he advertised as such.@@random_geekyness

@@brantmcmillan1716 Gods don't have biology and genetics the way humans do because they're supernatural,and incest doesn't have dire consequences.They shapeshift in the myths all the time. Persephone is black in the 2010 movie but nobody had a problem with that detail.

The Percy Jackson books have been my all time favorite books for a long time now, I’m really hoping this holds up to my expectations. Riordan’s written a lot in the years since the Peter Johnson movies were released, plenty of content to adapt

This means something to me man. I've reread the books countless times. Easily my favourite teen series. This trailer does the books so much justice. I know it seems like the bare minimum, but they actually have all the locations from the books, unlike a certain movie. Seeing the beach house, Gateway Arch scene, the love boat, Ares. I cannot wait for this series to come
