The light sadly went out. But at least this isn’t goodbye. The band and Brendon will forever be in our hearts and memories. All the performances, all the songs, and all the things he did. Will still remain. It’s sad that we won’t see him perform live again. But at least there’s a chance that he will in the future. Let’s remember Brendon. For the thing he is. Because the lyrical quality has taken a sharp nose dive. Instrumentals are phenomenal as always, but comparing this to even as recent as Death of a Bachelor (the album), you can see the difference. This particular song is the best on this album so far, but it's clearly trying to recreate Golden Days.

I know the feeling my friend as my mum died back in July 2022 and now I haven't got any family at all left now and Christmas was spent on my own so it wasn't easy for me but I'm just hoping and praying 2023 will at least be a bit better for me. Immediately fell in love with this song the first time I heard it and put it on repeat until now. I absolutely do not get the hate and disappointment over this from P!ATD fans themselves and I am not even a die-hard fan of the band, but I really like this to the point I can tell now that this is my most favorite song of the year 2022. It’s not a sad song but it makes me feel melancholic, which I cannot explain. And God, Mr. Brendon Urie’s vocals especially on the chorus are so brilliant. This song brings me back to the side of my moms hospital bed holding her hand and watching her taking her last breathe. My sister, brother in law, and I got a call from the nurse saying we needed to rush to the hospital to be by our moms side. I swear she knew we were coming and waited for us to get there and be with her and say our goodbyes. I love and miss you mom everyday. Seriously! Screw cancer and all the pain that it brings.

Man! Has hints of early 60's pop with a very distinct chorus, and some 80's nostalgia in there too with the electric guitar solo, the layered back up singers, the horns are very subtle but they're there. This is the best song I've heard in a LONG time.

I got a lot of stuff lately and was not able to process the news when it came out. I grew up with their songs and their music helped me get through my ups, downs and in-betweens. It's sad to think that there would be no more new panic songs, albums and concerts to anticipate. But that's life and we they all got to move on with their lives as we should with ours. It is an honor to have known their music - and I'll always be thankful to the band for putting all those masterpiece out. You have inspired many in many ways and to extend you would not have imagined. Panic! At The Disco's music will definitely live on and outlive us all.

Never heard of this group in the UK until BBC Radio 2 kept playing it and I thought “what a great song”, so had to look them up. This could well turn into a classic like the good old days of the 1980s. Finally a tune worth listening to with interesting lyrics. Love it.

The imagery on 3:54 where everyone leaves indicates that brendon is the only one left in the band to not let the light out. Similarly in the vices and virtues overture video, while the two members left only spencer stayed, but now in the don’t let the light out, everyone left, leaving brendon in the band all alone.

This is a major bop. I love the 60s pop big wall of sound production and the chorus is a major killer. The music video is a visual masterpiece. This needs to be a big top 10 hit right now. I just saw PATD perform this live on the MTV music awards and it was the best performance of the night. A lot of unnecessary ass shaking from the like of Nicki Minaj and others really quite tasteless .

I have seen this videoclip thousands of times, and it still breaking me, Don't Let The Light Go Out it's a masterpiece of song and the videoclip of the Panic! At The Disco Discography, this video shows sadness and depression with memorable moments like the kids at the theater, Brendon and Mike playing the guitar, and the impact crash of the car (Talking about the crash, I loved the easter egg of the cabaret mask from But It's Better If You Do, GRANDE B) the song brings the nostalgic so correctly, with the melody transportating us to a old time, a memorial time like the old Panic! with B voices (Great job from B part) and a beatiful melody that if you are an old fan that have been with Panic since their begginins, will instantly make you feel sad. We need to stop critic to Brendon because of stuff that he make in the past, the most important part is let the past go and live the present, enjoy and take advantage of the band and Brendon, becuase who knows that if someday B will not be anymore, what we make for honoring his legacy? Love this. For me it has echoes of '50's car-wreck songs like "Last Kiss," "Tell Laura I Love Her" etc. Lyrics: The understatement of "deep breaths from the bed where I watch you lie" -- letting you wonder what the hell happened?? I don't usually get this much of a sense of vulnerability from P!ATD (I turn to Chemical Romance for that) --- but this is so poignant.

​Kat Holland My read on it is that the singer (Brendon) is in a hospital watching his partner likely losing a fight for their life. There is a heartbeat motif all over the place - the steady drum beat in the "Don't let the light go out", the lights on the front of the car looking like a heartbeat monitor. He gets angry when he is told the leave the (hospital) room (or possibly an operating theatre) by a lady (a nurse). He notes that there are flowers that have been sent by presumably others sitting beside his partners bed but they are untouched - his partner is likely in a coma at best. The song is a lament that Brendon is genuinely uncertain about whether or not the person they are with will die and he is struggling to cope. We know Brendon can hit the high notes but he doesn't always - in this song he seems to very deliberately belt out high notes in the chorus. It's almost as if he is wailing to the heavens because he simply cannot hold all the pain, grief, and anxiety in. In the end the best he can really manage is a mantra that is both a prayer and an attempt to keep himself together: "Don't let the light go out"

Yes! I so got "Last Kiss" vibes from this song, and that is even more intense after seeing the video and it being a car wreck. The line that kills me is the first - "Stare at a wall that's told a thousand tragedies." I work in a hospital. This line hits so hard from seeing the heartbreak happen many times. As soon as I heard that, I knew I was going to love this song.

It also has kinda a george Michael last Christmas vibe.

When I first heard “viva las vengeance” I was like “…this is different, but I don’t hate it” now I’m four songs into this album I already know I’m going to undeniably love the rest of it

This is such a great fucking song. If you're happy mood you can appreciate that at one point you were in a dark place....if in a dark place this song grabs you and just tells you to move forward. The boys at PATD! really knocked this one out of the park from the intense vocals of the verse to the soothing chorus. Well done fellas.
