On their final day in Denmark, the peloton of the Tour de France ride from Vejle to Sønderborg. Today’s profile appears tailor-made for the sprinters, with the likes of Fabio Jakobsen and Caleb Ewan ready to open their accounts, but can a breakaway spoil the party?

Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Jay Tee I actually don't disagree but until it is PROVEN it's not right to accuse with no PROOF or EVIDENCE. The problem lies with WADA! They need to improve their protocol and testing routines and techniques. Until then it will just continue. And to be completely honest with you the sport would be boring if they were ALL clean!!
Vor 21 TagJan Veselý
Ok, he was third. 🤣
Vor 21 TagJay Tee
@Ken Kaniff Doping in cycling is as old as the sport. Just because you like a rider doesn't mean he's clean. These guys ride for money and glory. If you are not winning, you turn into a domestique which pays a lot less. The race you don't see is that for new medical technologies. Of course talent plays a role too but if had to make a bet on if they were doping or not, I'd say 100 percent of winners are using PED's, even if TUE's.
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Jay Tee A COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED AND BASELESS CLAIM!!! I don't even like the guy and I don't accuse any rider of doping. You MIGHT have a point if you were talking about BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS!!! But even in that situation we are awaiting the outcome.

Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Adam JD just for the record (since you questioned it), I've been watching the sport for over 40 years consistently but yes I will agree that the commiseurs are NOT CONSISTENT in their application of the rules. I think they change them when THEY want or they ignore things when THEY want. I don't disagree with that. Also for the record, I love Peter Sagan, I'm a fan of his AND I REALLY do NOT like WVA AT ALL but I don't feel he violated any rule. I feel it was a CLEAN SPRINT with some argy bargy that is dangerous. I also feel Sagan tried really hard to draw the foul (for lack of better term). He just tried to make it into something it wasn't. That's all. I've seen thousands of sprints and one day this is a clean sprint and on another day this is a sprint that gets someone relegated. It's not right at all but my personal opinion is that I feel it was a CLEAN SPRINT. Just my opinion and yes I know, I've seen people relegated for much less. It's very annoying but I also think the UCI is a sham organization on many levels. They are a VERY self serving organization in my view.
Vor MonatAdam JD
@Ken Kaniff Show me where I mentioned relegation... I'll wait. Besides, if you think rules are applied even-handedly, you haven't been watching cycling long. We know commissaires pick & choose at times.
Vor MonatAdam JD
@Ken Kaniff Well, that's certainly one interpretation. Pity the facts don't support it. Look at the aerial shots for starters. Besides, there is no excuse for WvA moving from the centre of the road all the way to the right. Sprinters MUST hold their line... he didn't. End of.
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Adam JD Yes BUT Sagan cut towards Ewan and the barrier BEFORE WVA started his line change!! I watched it 8 times in slo-mo and Sagan did it first. It WASN'T because of WVA. Sagan was also TRYING to make it look much worse than it really was by unnecessarily leaning into WVA and it only made him look like an angry, bitter loser. He's really not the happy, fun, loving guy we remember!! Ever since his wife left him for cheating on her is when he stopped winning. I've paid very close attention to when and what went wrong with him and it all started when his wife left him. He's never been the same since!! I'm not sure he'll ever get back on track and I REALLY do like Peter but I'm just being honest. That show by Peter was not a good look at all

Jakobsen looked spent after the intermediate sprint. Quick-step might have taken Cav and doubled up their chances; with no Alaphilippe? Ewan's having a shocker of a Tour too. Sagan surprisingly competative.
Vor MonatTim K.
@Ken Kaniff I forgot about his Giro win, but the competition wasn’t that great. Demare is no longer what he used to be and is very inconsistent and the others would never win a sprint against the competition that’s sprinting in the TdF. The national championship is definitely not a valuable argument in this case, since the amount of competition was even far lower than he had in the Giro. I’m not a fan of him, because ever since I’ve first seen him sprint, he often has dirty moves (head-buts etc.). However, I do not think he should stop until he’s completely certain he won’t be able to compete for wins anymore. He may not be able to beat the best sprinters, but he can still beat other sprinters. So I would say, he has to keep fighting and see where he will end up. I don’t really care about ending on a high, but rather like the attitude: all or nothing. Just fight till the very end Therefore, I dislike the attitude Dumoulin has. Although he had some incredibly disappointing and frustrating years, he has the talent to still perform if he really fights for it (even though it might be a long and tough fight) That I do respect of Cav: he has fought himself back to the highest level after a long time of bad performances
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Tim K. ok I read your second comment so I'll back off a bit😉 and yes as much of a HUGE Cav fan as I am I will say he got lucky last year at TDF cuz all the major sprinters weren't there to challenge him so he was quite lucky. I'm a HUGE fan of Cav but I'm REALISTIC and I think he should bow out GRACEFULLY NOW after matching Eddy's record and just winning British Nationals last week rather than coming back and POSSIBLY not achieving #35! It's something ALL athletes struggle with in ANY and EVERY sport!! They have a hard time deciding when to bow out GRACEFULLY while on A HIGH NOTE!!! I'd be really upset if he came back and didn't get #35 and these sprinters now are phenomenal so I'm not sure if Cav should come back next season. I'll stand by WHATEVER decision he makes tho!! He's the GREATEST SPRINTER to EVER ride a bicycle!!👑🎯💯💥 Cheers🤘🇬🇧
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Tim K. Incorrect!! What are you even talking about?? MOST of Cavs wins are thanks to Mark Renshaw!!! Cav only had Morkov as his leadout LAST SEASON when Lefervre brought him back to break Eddy's record. Renshaw worked with Cav spanning 6 seasons!! Cav wouldn't go to a team if he couldn't bring Renshaw with him. Morkov had ONE measly season with Cav and Cav just won a stage at the Giro AND WON the British Nationals last week for 2nd time so you don't really have a valid point. Yes I know, us Cav fans can be a pain I the arse😂
Vor MonatTim K.
@Zack Reynolds I didn’t mean that he owed a big amount of his victories in his entire career to perfect lead outs. I meant he owed a big number of his victories from last season to perfect lead outs. Quickstep had incredible lead outs in last year’s TdF. Especially Morkov was so good at it. Besides, the competition qua sprinters was poor in the TdF last year. So his wins in the TdF last year - although they were special - don’t imply he was the best sprinter The lead outs Jakobsen has gotten in the 2 stages for sprinter have however been bad. But that may also have to do with Jakobsen being cautious after his horrible crash. While Cav is not too shy to head-but others out of his way (whatever the consequences)
Vor MonatZack Reynolds
@Tim K. people always say Cav owes his wins to leadouts. If it works so well, why haven’t other teams figured out how to do it as well as [insert whatever team Cav has been on]? Oh maybe it’s because their sprinter isn’t strong enough to win. Cav has won several times with several teams and u think they all miraculously learned how to do perfect leadouts when other teams could’ve been doing the same thing? No, he’s just always been faster and that’s why it works. You also somehow forget all the stages he’s bailed on his leadout due to it failing. Take stage 4 from last year for example. I’m sick of people picking and choosing which sprinter “has all the work done for them”. And Cav literally displayed insane form coming into the race so idk what u on about.

VanAert put the squeeze on Sagon, check Ewan who also got squeezed out by VanAert's move. It's bike racing. Also nowadays it probably makes sense to stay away from boards. In a crit race you have time to gauge finish (multiple laps) here 1 time to get it right. things don't go your way sometimes.
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
Everyone is blaming WVA cuz Sagan pointed at him making a scene but I watched it on my TV in slo-mo about 10 times and Peter cut towards Ewan and the barrier BEFORE WVA changed his line!! But YES WVA did get a bit dirty but that's a bunch sprint for you. It's BRUTAL!!! But WVA is NOT why Sagan squeezed Ewan into the barrier. That was Ewan HIMSELF and a bit if Sagans fault. If you watch the replay and do slo-mo you will see Ewan was SO CLOSE to the barrier that his front wheel actually TOUCHES one of the legs to the barrier!! He did it to himself and then within .5secs Peter just made it IMPOSSIBLE for him to try to regain his speed and line!!

Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Jimmy RH I don't think Cav needs us to change anyone's mind or influence anyone tho. He is the GREATEST SPRINTER to ever ride so his name carries him. Nothing we say is going to influence anyone to pick up Cav for another season. Just my opinion and yes I'm a HUGE Cav fan!!! He's my FAVOURITE rider!!! But I think maybe he should go out ON TOP after matching Eddy's record and just winning British Nationals last week for 2nd time, I think it MAY be best to bow out now, GRACEFULLY rather than coming back and not achieving it. I'm honestly torn between letting him have another go at it and saying, he should bow out GRACEFULLY now. These new sprinters are phenomenal and I DO believe Cav can break Eddy's record but what if he DOESN'T??? That wouldn't be the way ANYONE would want to leave ANY sport!!! But that's the one thing ALL athletes struggle with!!! MANY TIMES they should have retired after a major victory but they come back and have a shit season and don't get to leave on a high note. It's a VERY VERY hard thing for ANY athlete to decide on. Cav is a LEGEND and I'll forever be grateful I got to watch him race in person, meet him, took MANY pics with him, got him to autograph MANY items for me and whatever choice he makes I will think no less of him. He's the GREATEST SPRINTER to EVER ride a bicycle!!👑💯🎯🤘
Vor MonatJimmy RH
@heliumtrophy My comment is clearly about the future. Cav is obviously not head and shoulders the fastest sprinter like he was 10 years ago, but watching this sprint, he surely would have had a decent chance still. With Cav being in a team with another, much younger sprinter capable of winning stages, there was always a risk that the team would make the legitimate decision to go with the younger option. A year is a long time for a 37 year old professional cyclist, but if he still has the legs, I would like to see him join a team that will back him to go to the tour. Sponsors would clearly be interested and perhaps the opportunity might attract a couple of up and coming lead out men... maybe there's a new Mark Renshaw who would like to make his name by leading out Cav to stage win number 35! If enough people keep taking about it, maybe it can influence all the people involved, like team managers, sponsors, young lead out men, and even Cav himself!
Vor Monatheliumtrophy
Can we give this shit a rest? It sucks that he wasn't brought along for the Tour but there's no use continuing to gripe about it because it won't change anything.

@Ken Kaniff oh, I was very perplexed but I now see where you misunderstood my comment. It must be difficult to read. I wrote “You were talking about SAGAN and Ewan being squeezed by HIM”. Van Aert is nowhere in the sentence, HIM is referring to Sagan, casually in the same sentence.
Vor MonatAmedeo Santini
@Ken Kaniff it’s not hard to read, I agree with you. So, tell me, where in my second comment I wrote even once “Van Aert”. Well, I didn’t. So it’s pretty obvious, to me at least, that I did not think that you said that VA squeezed them. And if you go back and read my comment again you’ll see that I was just presenting my argument about what a squeeze is. Furthermore, you literally wrote “it is not VWA’s fault if Sagan squeezed Ewan” and all that BS about the “Sagan move”. So, the reference about Sagan squeezing Ewan is definitely there. Whatever you think doesn’t matter if written words say otherwise. I am not in your head. Also, I remember Groenewegen sprinting not in a straight line, I remember Demare, Alaphilippe and Ferrari. Well, I don’t remember Sagan do it. I remember Sagan keeping his position with his elbows out but that is completely another thing. And Cipollini, I’m sure, did worse. Luckily cycling is not where it once was. P.s. How come that all your comments are modified? How could I know you didn’t change sentences? Or is it very hard to write? And if it is, shouldn’t it be at least as difficult as reading?
Vor MonatZack Reynolds

Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Tom Webster the only thing I did with my comment was fix a spelling error. I didn't change the comment in any way tho.
Vor MonatTom Webster
@Ken Kaniff Please be aware I haven't actually stated that I think WVA should be relegated either. You said that Sagan did it first. I have responded to that by pointing out how what Sagan did was different to what WVA did in the context of the rules. You've also edited your posts since my reply which may have changed the context.
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Tom Webster you're aware that the commiseurs and Peter himself feel no need to relegate and Peter himself has said "it's OK, no problem". It was a clean sprint, as I said earlier!!
Vor MonatTom Webster
The rules allow riders to select a lane when launching into their sprint, which is what Sagan did by selecting a line to the right of WVA. Also, Sagan wasn't endangering anybody by pushing them into the barrier. This differs from WVA who changed his lane after launching into his sprint and was pushing Sagan who was alongside him into the barrier.
Vor MonatKen Kaniff

Ever since his wife left him for cheating on her is when he stopped winning. I've paid very close attention to when and what went wrong with him and it all started when his wife left him. He's never been the same since!! I'm not sure he'll ever get back on track and I REALLY do like Peter but I'm just being honest. Bottom line is it was a CLEAN SPRINT and Peter tried SO HARD to make it look like something happened. It was quite comical actually watching him TRYING to put his head into WVA😂 he couldn't even make it look good🤣

Everyone is blaming WVA cuz Sagan pointed at him making a scene but I watched it on my TV in slo-mo about 10 times and Peter cut towards Ewan and the barrier BEFORE WVA changed his line!! But YES WVA did get a BIT dirty by pulling a "Sagan move" on Sagan himself but that's a bunch sprint for you. It's BRUTAL!!! But WVA is NOT why Sagan squeezed Ewan into the barrier. That was Ewan HIMSELF and a BIT of Sagans fault. WVA is NOT why Sagan ended up where he was. Sagan put HIMSELF there and then YES WVA did squeeze him a bit but nothing Sagan hasn't done MANY times before!! A d for the record, I can't stand WVA!!!

Should be relegated to last to forfeit the sprint points for today. Doing nothing just validates what he did is correct and so he will continue doing it, eventually causing a crash risking someone's life.
Vor MonatHenry Wang
TDF noob here, confused by how/why everyone in the same first finishing group gets the same time? How are you supposed to differentiate every rider then for the yellow jersey
Vor MonatJames H
If there is no more than a 1 second gap between consecutive riders they are given the same time. If there is a gap then it is seen as two separate groups, with the time gap between them being taken between the times of the first rider in each group. (e.g group 1 rider finishes in 04'12'15, the first time there is more than a second of a gap is a rider at 04'12'30, so even though there was maybe only 1-2 seconds between this rider and the last rider in the group ahead he loses 15 seconds)
Vor MonatZack Reynolds
Because it’s kind of unfair to lose 10 seconds because you get boxed in. If that were the case then there would be 50 guys trying to be at the front instead of 20 and there’s not enough road for that. It would cause more crashes.
Vor Monatkasper hansen
If you Are part of the group you get the same time as the lead rider. With breakaways and mountainclimbs People Will ved split up and you Will se a time difference
Vor Monatgodspeed
because not every rider will always be in the first finishing group, there are stages with lots of elevation to come where the field gets torn apart time wise

@#AkoSi- Bong no not at all. I've met Sagan and have several pics together with him that are framed in my house, autographs from him, watched him race in person MANY times and i do like the guy but I'm a realist and he has had a rough few years after his wife left him for cheating on her and its sad to see his decline so fast but i just look at things logically and in a realistic way and i don't make excuses for myself or others and I'm just stating how I feel about Peter. Hes starting to become a grumpy person and a sore loser it seems. I know hes passiinate but he's lost a lot of his passion lately and i just call it how i see it.

@#AkoSi- Bong just now saw your second comment. Yes, Sagan seems to have backed off from claiming WVA was at fault. Smart choice cuz I watched it frame by frame and Sagan was full of sh1t!
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@#AkoSi- Bong yes I agree. My comment wasn't in reference to Ewan. In fact in another comment (I posted it somewhere around here) I said that Ewan put HIMSELF in that position AND in fact he actually cut so hard towards the barrier that his front wheel hit the leg of the barrier!! Ewan screwed HIMSELF!! Another thing was that Sagan cit towards the barrier BEFORE WVA changed his line!! WVA did not squeeze him in!! I watched it frame by frame about 10 times. Sagan blaming WVA is bullshit and Ewan can only blame himself!! It's a bunch sprint!! They are notoriously brutal!! Clean sprint in my opinion

@Tom Ehrhard that was just poor positioning from Caleb, not Sagan's fault. There was no space for both and Sagan already took the lane where he wanted to go.

I'm not even sure if he was criticising van Aert or maybe congratulating Groenewegen.
Vor MonatProfe Sam
Did anyone notice who cut off Fabio Jakobsen in the final turn? It looked to me like it was Groenewegen. If Jakobsen had not braked hard Dylan Groenewegen would have crashed him out again. Fabio had to brake hard and lost his lead out man and all of his momentum. Meanwhile, Dylan went on to win the sprint. Doesn’t seem quite right to me. A cut-throat move for sure!
Vor MonatKen Kaniff
@Profe Sam you're absolutely right!! It WAS DG!! It wasn't really anything he did "wrong" or malicious, it's just that DG took a better line than FJ and FJ paid the price for taking a shitty line. It WASN'T malicious tho in any way!! One rider took a better line and they seemed to have gotten close to each other inadvertently. I'm pretty sure DG didn't want to be ANYWHERE NEAR FJ in the final km😉 The LAST place he would have wanted to be would be within 2 mtrs of FJ😂 It just happened that way but it was absolutely CLEAN!!
Vor MonatProfe Sam
@Shema i’m not a Fabio fan and you are right about taking a bad line. That line left the potential for him to be cut off and you are right about that it was his choice. My comments were really more an observation of the continuation of that friction between him and Dylan. I can’t say that there wasn’t something calculated in it...?

Vor MonatGuilherme Henriques

Vor MonatJonathan Z
@Ken Kaniff ok buddy, come up with a bunch of things I didn’t say. The post was about the man in the jersey being the only one interested in a breakaway. My point was exactly that nobody could take it from him if he won one climb. The rest of the peloton felt the same. I don’t see a that I said anything about saying he wasn’t proud to have it in his home country. I guess this is going to be your thing now, hunting for my comment to reply.

Can I just say to all the riders, for goodness sake don't go so mad as to threaten the outcome of the race by going so mad as to cause mass pile ups, think long term, better to lose a battle and win a war, is such a waste of all the preparation when a huge crash causes would be favourites to be injured or held up, this goes for the sprinters as much as the overall contenders. Team directors , have a word with the lads, it will make for a much better race, am big fan of Peter Sagan, don't know why he had the hump at the end of the stage but remember it is crucial to maintain the sportsmanship, I have vintage photos of the racers looking at each other with huge admiration and respect, that is where things should be, mutual admiration and respect. P.s Somebody give the order to arachute in Mark Cavendish, is outrageous he has been denied a record breaking opportunity, Henri Desgrange would be turning in his grave if he knew the Cavendish firepower had been removed from the equation.

Pause at 00:03 that’s cheating, notice he is using a 56 tooth ring so when he cross chains he can get more speed with an easier cadence. He is clearly cross chaining, been using this method for years now using bigger chain rings in order get faster speeds when cross chain in heavy winds. I live in flat lands and heavy winds every day. Air pressure is also high. Approaching 45km on a bike your helmet is trying to rip out of your head with this air pressure and winds here (Southern Ontario shit weather and even worst shit roads). This comment is sarcasm for those gullible lol
