Well I thought this was going to be super easy but what I found when I got there wasn't good. Things settled down and we got the job done anyway and it turned out good. It just took a little unnecessary work to get there. Enjoy

major respect for ryan, he’s a hard working boss and he can scold the crew and make sure they know that they messed up, he set his expectation and then moved on, a lot of bosses would just focus on that for the day and be mad about that but he realizes you can only be mad for so long and you still gotta get the work done

Thanks for posting this, you captured something that really only comes with experience- you had to discipline/reprimand the crew- they got the message, went to work, and got it done without ruining the entire mood/environment. Most bosses can't transition as smoothly and once you raise your voice it's just quiet on the yard for the rest of the day.

Ryan, im about 4 weeks new to the channel and i have learned so much how you lead your crew. I'm currently supervising 5 employees in my company. My company is 1 year old, and im passionate about concrete work. However i was unsure how to lead my crew on a daily basis until i found your channel. Im a serious, strict individual so often times i don't have alot of time to make conversations with my workers. The only time i would really talk to them is when i would tell them what to do, or give them a hard time when they make a mistake. Watching your videos inspired me to learn to become a leader and not a boss for my workers, and it has made our working environment and moral of my workers much better than it was before. I never would have imagined that smiling more often, and conversating with your employees would make a huge impact in my crew. Made me also become a better person individually as well. So thank you Ryan for inspiring me, and showing a hard hat person like myself that there are better ways to handle sitations in a work place and showing what true leadership is all about. God bless you and your family and once again, thank you. I would have never imagined myself finding a mentor through a screen, until i found you. Stay winning brother, eeeaaasy money 💪🙏

Hey Ryan! We love your videos man, wanted to offer some help on the GoPro issue. The cameras come out of the box preset to "Wide" lens. Means everything ends up curved through a fisheye. What you want is "Linear". It's super simple to set up on the GoPro itself, just edit the preset and you'll be good. Plenty of tutorials it takes about 30 seconds. Then we'll get a real sense of those "perfectly straight joints" you keep talking about...😂

Ryan, I use to pour and finish concrete back in 05-06 after high school. It was one of the most satisfying jobs I ever had. And back then we poured miles of sidewalks for new developments using the long STEEL FORMS (your crew has it lucky not lugging those around) Wondered if you ever used the plastic strips that would lay down and then peel out to leave expansion joints. We used them a lot in garage and basement floors.

My Foreman has worked for me for 14yrs & he just had a week & a half off due to lack of accountability & responsibility. This costs money, set backs that should never happen cost money...I pay them very well & if you can't do without me spoon feeding it to you every day, I'll find someone that will appreciate the pay & the work. But when point is made & problem is resolved, time to re-set & move on with the project. Well done Sir!

As some who managed people for over 20 years, I’ve learned a few things the hard way. Once you have the “talk” or “crucial conversation” just let it be, don’t bring it up any more. They know, just let it go and move on with the rest of the day. Rehashing has no benefit.

Ryan love your content. For some reason you make watching concrete dry entertaining LOL but I wanted to tell you I’ve noticed your joints looking crooked too. Although with your knowledge and experience they’re not really crooked. It’s from the lens on your camera. If the lens is either convex or concave and when you pan and get to the edge of the lens I think it’s causing the lines to look like that. It is indeed the camera. Even if I’m wrong it’s just an illusion. Hope you feel better soon.

I had similar issues with my employees because I was always the one doing the final checks; they never did, they always relied on me because that's the way I trained them. Now I let them check and report to me if they think all is correct. They didn't do this on purpose, they just waited for their "parent" to check their work. It's easy to say "obvious mistake", but that's not the issue. The issue is to learn that no one is coming after you, that mistakes happen and that you need to find your own mistakes. You can only grow in your profession if you make mistakes, find them yourself and correct them. They're good with the mistake making, but not so much with the "something is not right" part.

Shame on Darryl for not wearing a helmet. Life is too precious. Ryan, the many things I love about you, is that you are detailed oriented. It comes natural to you.

First off I’m new to the channel and love the videos. Personally haven’t done much concrete but I do have one question. Keep in mind I don’t know all the technical wording so bare with me here. I try to be the same with my guys, routine things that they've been taught day in, day out, then you're not there & it's like they forget everything they've been taught.

Vor 7 MonateJakub Galinski
What surprised me is the fact that he needs to tell them each step over and over again. Are all these people 1st day on the job?
