Permissive parenting has a price! It may all look cute now! but this can backfire on parents and I have seen it! This is why I would never practice it as a parent. One friend was encouraging the dating thing for her kid about 17 and you would think they would be responsible. They were told about the birds and the bees, even birth control. But young people are foolish. I was once them too and they have those fancy ideas of being together raising a kid ectt.. now 1 year or two later, pregnant with baby in tow! She has not lived her life and neither has he! and she has now changed it irreversibly. now you know the amount of courage and determination it would take to still make something of herself after this. When she the daughter reached out to me. I calmly told her. Accept that your life has changed and do the best for this baby and yourself. It did not have to be this way, babies could have still been made but after college and living her best life. But poor parenting/permissive parenting just failed to steer her in the right direction.
