They are females although try to a male thats a different story also there are odds wherein the spurs of a rooster can be carried by a hen

We got a big area where we dump all the feed for the chickens to peck. My family's got a tendency to put too much food out which means mice and opposums just come up and snack on it at night while the chickens are forced to do nothing but watch those mice. One day one of our hens caught a mouse and proceeded to beat its head straight into the ground. After knocking it out cold the hen proceeded to lift her head up and gulp the mouse down whole all in the course of a couple seconds. My sister said it was pretty brutal to watch.

I had almost 4 dozen chickens growing up and in the winter time they would create totems like 4 of them would pile on each other to get out of the snow it was the funniest thing to see 4-5 chicken towers popping out of the snow

They’re crazy... I had a pen full of Standard Rhode Island Reds that had plywood sides about 3’ tall and a rat fell in one day. I stood there as this rat made repeated attempts to jump out as about three or four hens just went nuts pecking him and grabbing him. I eventually whacked it with a shovel and killed it but not before getting a kick out of the hens acting as attack chickens.
