I think an interesting mutation to this challenge would be that you can walk in all four directions from spawn coordinate. That would at least allow for a little bigger spawn base, which can also be spread out over several floors. Another change could be that you get to freely move around and build on your spawn chunk, but you cannot dig below the surface, and outside of spawn chunk you can move in all four directions from spawn coordinate and dig down unrestricted. That would allow for a bit more creative building of mini farms and such, because if you can only move on one line, you tend to avoid any unneccessary building and rush the story line.

Great skill with the Fishing Rod, and the Water Bucket. I tried a similar challenge on Bedrock (so I could see my coordinates) and I started with a starter chest. My rule was to get to the starter chest, pick a direction, then dig down to 63 and stay on 63. I quickly had to change rules when the creeper blew me off course, or when my crafting table drifted away when I broke it. So, I'd stand on top of my bed or crafting table (elevation 64) and break it so it wouldn't fly away. Also, placing block in front of me was a handy thing in Bedrock, making crossing oceans possible -- but that's what finally got me, 6000 blocks of ocean.

Wow, this brings back memories. The first video of WadZee i ever saw was this so this is kinda special.

I actually find hardcore minecraft boring and only watch your channel when a challenge or something in the title catches my eye, so I haven't watched one of your videos in a really long time. This is the first in a while. So, doing what you want isn't inherently bad. I actually much prefer the things you like to do over hardcore.

I remember hanging with my friend at the start of quarantine and getting so hyped over new straight line challenge videos dropping. I always commented on how many subs you were gaining and how you're going to go big with your unique style of content. Didn't even take long for him to change direction, around 445 when he takes down the tree (originally to his right, making straight to the left) he makes these pickaxe and then continues straight from there. Meaning after he turned right to harvest tree, straight was actually to his left. Viable right around 505. Intro was about 3 minutes, so challenge lasted about 2 minutes. Then happened again shortly after that, that or very poorly timed clipping/editing making it seem like he's taking turns, because the terrain layout isn't the same for the direction he was heading already every time he goes into inventory. So either you did challenge with poor timing for timeline skips, or didn't do it. Showing coordinates is an easy way to avoid any issues with clipping/editing, and general doubt. Still has some entertainment value at least.
